Lacazette and Luiz benched as budget FPL forward Martinelli gets first start

The final match of Gameweek 16 takes place this evening, as West Ham United take on managerless Arsenal.

Kick-off at the London Stadium is at 20:00 GMT.

Interim boss Freddie Ljungberg takes charge of the Gunners for the third time and has made a big call with his team selection, dropping Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) and David Luiz (£5.8m) to the bench.

Nicolas Pepe (£9.1m) and Calum Chambers (£4.4m) come into the side, as does Kieran Tierney (£5.4m) at left-back.

Budget Fantasy Premier League forward Gabriel Martinelli (£4.5m) is handed his first-ever start in the English top flight, meanwhile.

Sead Kolasinac (£5.2m) and Joe Willock (£4.9m) are also cut from the starting XI, with the latter failing to make the matchday squad.

Hector Bellerin (£5.4m) was injured in the warm-up, meanwhile, so Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£4.6m) comes in at right-back.

The West Ham United team news is far more straightforward: Manuel Pellegrini’s only change sees the fit-again Michail Antonio (£6.9m) replace Sebastien Haller (£7.0m) in attack.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.2m) recovers from a minor knock to start, while there is no place for Andriy Yarmolenko (£5.6m) even among the substitutes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) is by some distance the most-selected player on show this evening and the only FPL asset from either side who can boast a double-digit ownership.

The Gabon international sits in more than one in five Fantasy squads and in 8.59% of the teams who were in the top 10,000 at the point of the Gameweek 16 deadline.

Aubameyang has scored 50 FPL points on the road this season, compared to just 39 at the Emirates – and has played one fewer away fixture.

FPL’s cheapest playing goalkeeper, David Martin (£4.0m), gets his third straight start for the hosts.

Martin has already banked one clean sheet, three save points and two bonus points in his two appearances so far.

West Ham United XI: Martin, Fredericks, Ogbonna, Balbuena, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Snodgrass, Fornals, Anderson, Antonio.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Chambers, Sokratis, Tierney, Torreira, Xhaka, Pepe, Ozil, Martinelli, Aubameyang.

Squad needs major overhaul which probably takes 2-3 transfer windows at least. Anyone who comes in now will want to see results but this team has no identity on the pitch

City's offensive points tend to be widely distributed.

        Aguero 39%, KDB 37%, Sterling 26%

Happy with Jesus & KDB, but wouldn't get one in for the game.

AFTV is good entertainment for non fans but if you watch it as an Arsenal fan you are a joke. Its just comedy laughing at the club and the fans parading as a show for people who are concerned about the club.

Exactly, it’s a waste of time and brain cells. The biggest problem is that their existence makes new and old fans hard to associate with the club. How can you start supporting Arsenal if this is the group of people you “belong to” by doing so?

See above. They’ve created an important platform for not only spreading negative energy but making the club extremely unattractive. The fans are there to support, these guys don’t even do that and lack the mental capabilities to produce anything that’s beneficial.

in all fairness they have valid points to rant, they had to endure over 5 years of their board sticking by Wenger when it was clear they needed another manager. Secondly, the club just hasn't invested in players over the last 10 years.

I am considering getting Grealish for Villa's kind run of fixtures
but I haven't watched any of their games till now.

Is Grealish really playing good and having chances to score points or he is just too accurate?

I'd be pleased if anyone can help me

Talisman, C, holds ball excellent, dead balls & getting goals.

Got him in two gws ago after looking at his stats and watching the highlights ... for his price why not punting ...

If it was more convenient, I would bring him in. One of the best at his price atm

What is it with Lacazette and Auba playing together?....The fact the previous manager didn’t start those two together week in and week out I put down to him just being a bit nuts...but already Freddy has done it...

Is there something going on that we don’t know about?...I would have those two as first names on my sheet every single game without fail....and i’m sure most folk would. Any thoughts?

I have no idea. The team should be built around those two.

I would play both them and maybe Pepe every week and build a team around them. Don't understand it either.

Martinelli deserves a shot tbh. Lacazette has hardly inspired recently, which can't be said of Martinelli. Wouldn't be surprised to see both Auba and Laca benched soon to give the kids a run around. Nothing would surprise me at this point. No one is proving their worth besides Leno and the kids.

I’m not surprised Laca is lacking in inspiration....how many times does he score to be followed by a benching. This was a chance to reinvigorate...but seems not...

Same for Martinelli though. Scoring shouldn't secure you a place in the XI

They celebrate every goal together so its nothing with them, just two incompetent managers.

Mystery. I would start Laca every game. I'd bring on Sub for the last 30 min of games to run teams ragged. Biggest puzzle is why Xakha gets a start.

The more people play together the better they become...it’s a well worn path, especially with forwards.

Emery played them both a lot but insisted on playing Auba as a winger.

I guess it’s because 4-4-2 is out of fashion.

Looking on twitter this was the arsenal team the fans wanted to see before the game.

      Goodness

Everytime the camera points to Freddie he is just sitting on the bench cluelessly. Hardly inspiring

Most fans are clueless. They dont understand team balance. You cant field 4 lazy attackers and expect anything against any team in the PL.

Lampard joined Chelsea in a much better place than Freddy.

Time at Derby surely helped too.

Freddy isn't the problem though, the club is rotten.

Yeah. Because they picked him to fill the spot(even for temporarily) and judging by the responses, how the heck they made that decision? It's just baffling.

Rashford’s has 7G 1A from 6 games vs Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester City so far this season

He has 3G 4A & 2 missed pens in the other 10 games

Talk about being a big game player
