Jimenez, Doherty and Adama benched as Klopp keeps rotation to a minimum

The final two matches of Gameweek 20 overlap one another, with Liverpool v Wolverhampton Wanderers kicking off at 16:30 GMT and Manchester City v Sheffield getting underway at 18:00 GMT.

Despite having threatened to utilise his peripheral squad players in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has kept the changes to a minimum for the Reds’ final match of 2019.

Klopp’s only alteration sees Adam Lallana (£5.8m) replace Naby Keita (£5.8m) in central midfield, so there are starts for popular Fantasy assets Mohamed Salah (£12.3m), Sadio Mane (£12.3m), Roberto Firmino (£9.2m), Virgil van Dijk (£6.4m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) and Andrew Robertson (£7.0m).

There isn’t such positive news for owners of some of Wolves’ most-owned FPL players.

Having beaten Manchester City in a five-goal thriller less than 48 hours ago, Nuno Espirito Santo has understandably freshened up his side for this trip to Anfield.

Raul Jimenez (£7.5m), Adama Traore (£5.5m), Matt Doherty (£6.1m) and Romain Saiss (£4.4m) all drop to the bench, with Pedro Neto (£5.0m), Ruben Vinagre (£4.2m), Ryan Bennett (£4.9m) and Max Kilman (£4.0m) all drafted into the starting XI.

Diogo Jota (£6.1m) keeps his place up front, however.

Adama was the fourth-most-bought FPL asset of Gameweek 20.

Salah and Mane were both among the top five most-captained players this weekend, with the Egyptian second only to Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) for armband duties among the top 10k.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last seven away league games, although Liverpool have, of course, only dropped two points all season.

The big news at the Etihad is that the most-owned ‘defender’ in FPL, John Lundstram (£5.1m), has failed a late fitness test and misses out.

Mo Besic (£4.4m) replaces Lundstram in midfield, with Lys Mousset (£4.9m) and Callum Robinson (£5.0m) getting starts up front in place of David McGoldrick (£5.4m) and Oli McBurnie (£5.7m).

The Blades are, remarkably, still unbeaten on the road this season.

All three of Pep Guardiola’s changes are made at the back.

Teenage centre-half Eric Garcia (£4.5m) replaces Nicolas Otamendi (£5.0m), while Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.2m) is in for Benjamin Mendy (£5.5m) at left-back.

Claudio Bravo (£4.8m) starts in goal in place of the suspended Ederson (£6.0m).

It’s the same front six that started at Molineux on Friday, meanwhile, with Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) leading the line.

Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) is back on the bench after recovering from illness.

City have scored in every match over the last 11 Gameweeks, averaging 2.27 goals per game in that time.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m) is the second-most-popular captaincy option in Gameweek 20, having been handed the armband by 764,890 FPL managers.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson, Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Wolves XI: Patricio, Jonny, Kilman, Coady, Dendoncker, Bennett, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre, Jota, Neto.

Manchester City XI: Bravo, Walker, Garcia, Fernandinho, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Bernardo, De Bruyne, Sterling, Mahrez, Aguero.

Sheffield United XI: Henderson, Baldock, Stevens, O’Connell, Basham, Egan, Besic, Norwood, Fleck, Robinson, Mousset.

Such a bad rank I have to play aggressively so did Mane to Salah for a hit. Nothing I try this season is working. On 16 points with De Bruyne left. Good chance this will be the worst game week of my life, in without a doubt the worst season.

To be honest selling mane to Salah for a hit was a very dumb move. Mane clearly the better player overall and the better fpl player

They should take the calibrated measurement out of the offside issue and only allow the VAR referees 30 secs to confirm or overule the desicion by viewing a simple replay. Goalline technology works for the ball crossing the line and multiple replays are OK for fouls, handball etc.

Offside deslcision are the biggest controversy for VAR and by fixing that issue I'm sure most fans would be much happier.

But then by whose eye? You’d get differences still and inconsistencies.

The only partial fix I can see is define offside by the boot and maybe set a 1-5cm tolerance in favour of attackers.

There should be a rule where if the player is less than a required length, say 1cm, offside give the goal. These tight decisions are taking the advantage away from the forwards and taking away goals.

right, but if this length is n milimiters, then the debate simply becomes `was the player n milimeters offside?', which is no easy to answer than the question `were they offside at all?'.

But if they are using technology surely on their computers it would say the length between the two lines.

Why do people get upset when it's 5mm offside, but are fully acceptant when the ball crosses the line by 5mm & is given as a goal?

The rules are the rules though 1mm offside is offside, just like 1 metre offside is offside - it's black & white!

Yes, that’s true, but the problem is that the offside rule ought to be used as it was intended to be used when it was first introduced I.e to stop blatant goal hanging. Marginal infractions that can only be detected by lasers do not offer any advantages. The spirit of the rule should be reintroduced and it’s enforcement should be relaxed.

Exactly, it's black & white. Obviously it's incredibly frustrating, but just don't be offside!

do you even understand what offside trap is? Defenders intenionally push forward when the opposition has the ball to force offsides from the opponent attacker, the line is constantly moving..

              not at all

5mm off side by a toe or worse an armpit, aligned and referenced against when the ball is kicked (the ball touched by the boot or actually moved ? how accurate is the technology? - two moving target factors that has a degree of error and interpretation based upon geometric lines across the pitch? ... and it may not even be the actual goal scorer

              or

a simple round ball in a fixed localised position of the pitch crossing a static line, with the technology already in place, simple, tried and proven

Then there would be exactly the same checks & you'd get someone onside by 1mm because a fraction of their boot was onside - what's the difference?

Why are people getting upset about correct decisions? VAR needs to speed up and maybe change the offside rule to be feet only but it's not the technology that is the problem it's the interpretation. It works fine in rugby and cricket so why not football?

It's not the technology that freezes the frame. Also human bodies are so different, how you can be 100% sure where the shoulder ends and where the arm starts ?

You cannot compare cricket to football as the ball is more dead ( not in play ) than live. Also cricket allows a margin of error in the batsman favour

they are making calls about millimeters or 2 centimeters that make absolutely no difference to the outcome. They are breakign the PL and the VAR officials are scum bags. They chalking out goals left right and centre for arm pit hair, but can watch Sterling dive 25 times and give a pen.

They are breaking football, and teams will be releagted. At least 3 games this weekend ruined by VAR (Pukki and Zaha).

the camera technology is naff, that Wolves player was not offside, his hand was but that doesnt count, and his hand masked the Pool boot which dictated the line, they literally gussed the line and disallowed a goal for an arm being off side.

TalkSport have an interesting write up on how Liverpool would be better off WITHOUT VAR. That was a few weeks ago, although I doubt there's too much difference since then.

Does their analysis cover situations where VAR should have overruled something, but didn't? Those tables get thrown off by not considering those incidents (e.g. the Lamela foul on Rodri in GW 2)

Great post. VAR worked in and against their favour at times. The score should/ could be 1-1. The second decision was too perhaps too harsh. That being said, Liverpool are at the peak of football. You'd be salty to deny that.

Im a Liverpool fan and VAR is killing the game. The Man City Wolves game was borderline farcical. .
          Mane's goal was a goal
          Neto's goal should have stood

That Neto one is like Firmino's earlier this year and a few others e.g. Pukkis - that was a joke....... soul destroying....If I wanted sterile, clinical action I'd watch a surgeon do a routine operation.....

Before the season i said that VAR isn't needed in leagues as you play 38 games and each one is as important. Sometimes the decisions go against you, sometimes not. It works in cup formats as the one game has a bigger stake.

Can't they just use common sense regarding offside VAR decisions?

Their bodies are level, the attacker has not gained a clear advantage because of a hand, armpit hair, overgrown nail, whatever. So it should be down to the referee's discretion and give advantage to the attacking team.

I've got TAA, but this is just ridiculous now.

I think the rule should be as long as your feet are on side you are onside ...and there should be a degree of discretion in favour of the attacking team.....just as there is with speed cameras in favour of the driver as the science involved is NOT PERFECT
