FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

The draws for the fifth round of the FFS Members Cup and the sixth round of the FFS Cup have taken place following the completion of Gameweek 19.

As planned, we skipped Gameweek 20 due to the swift turnaround between the two sets of fixtures.

We’re down to the final 32 Fantasy managers in both tournaments after the Boxing Day games.

I am not saying this week necessarily but an early WC, probably next week when the fixture pile up settles a little. Forget about whether the WC is right but comment on the side which is slightly differential. It would cost 20 points to get to this side:
    Ryan/ Fab
    TAA/Robbo/Rico/Lund/Kelly
    Salah/Martial/Traore/KDB/Maddi
    DCL/Jimmi/Ings
2.3 ITB for emergency moves due to cheap forwards.
Feel free to cut me to shreds guys.

You’re going to want Vardy. 4 very green fixtures in a row. With his ownership near 100% in the top 10k you’ll be left behind if not

      1. Eze Really?
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 3 months ago

        I expected the Vardy comment.
If I had stuck to my original plan at the start of the season and captained KDB set and forget, I would have been no worse off ignoring Vardy. It is a risk though.

What's the point of getting this side? You're essentially betting against Vardy not to score and your cheap forwards to continuously deliver

Don't make it differential for the sake of it, do it only if you think the side is a genuine improvement

      1. Eze Really?
        • 9 Years

You make a good point but as I mention above I would have been no worse off C KDB and points per mil with those forwards are off the charts accepting DCL is a punt. See my Grav. It will be the first time since GW4 I have an Everton asset!!

      I like it a lot.
Just too many forwards around budget price for me. Makes it inflexible. Imo
      Benching headache as well.
I’d have one of Ings or DCL.

RE Calvert Lewin. He looks really confident now doesn’t he. Ancelotti saying all the right things to boost his confidence. Hoping his run continues.

DCL is a punt for me and, as you say, maybe one of DCL/Ings. My other thought was Ings to Vardy and moving out Martial to a a 7 mil Mid

Yep that sounds a good idea. You’ll probably be moving Martial on anyway.

Vardy will cut you to ribbons. If you’re dead set on going without I would upgrade Rico or Kelly to a Leicester defender.

It seems to be the major discussion. I do have 2.3 ITB and could downgrade Martial to afford Vardy. A major punt I agree.

If wildcarding, you need to do something sufficiently mental that it differentiates you from the field

But not so mental that it sabotages your season

The move that contains just the right amount of mental is...

Treble Liverpool defence, Vardy perma cap

Salah & Mane will likely just continue going tit for tat all season and end up with only 10-20 points between them & having both is so restrictive on budget

      1. Eze Really?
        • 9 Years
        4 years, 2 months ago

KDB could and has proven just as good as perma cap.
I think DCL Ings Maupay and Jimmi all capable of 90% of Vardy points going forward.
A differential in itself to have Ings Jimmi DCL as forwards and save 6 mil for mids that are not performing per mil quite as well. Mane KDB Martial Maddi and Traore allows a good spread of teams and double Pool back line. The 2.3 mil is cover if I cock up.
By the way Max, Mount has proven to be not quite as good as expected! (smile)

A Brendan Rodgers forward in a top 4 team is an absolutely frightening FPL prospect...

Suarez was the last one & he got 31G 17A in 33 apps... we kept expecting his points to dry up but they just didn't

With Vady on 17G 5A after 19 games I see him being on 30G 10A by GW38 easily enough

          Possibly 35G

But KDB is smashing it - which is kind of why we may all need to take a step back & say is there any need for one 12.5 forward (let alone two!) when they can't outscore a 9.5 mid or a 9.0 striker

Gameweek 20 Rough with the Smooth

How did your GW go? Which of your players were benched? Did you get any injuries? How did your bench perform? Did your captain return?

Maybe your captain was a highly owned forward who didn't play and you got a big score off your bench.. 😉

Smooth - decided on Foster on a WC over the popular Ramsdale. Took a slight risk on Martial which came through and double Liverpool defence returns which looks set to be the next 'template' moves.

Rough - Went Salah over Mane due to the early Salah rest against Leicester. Captain Salah fail.

Smooth, 67 after a hit was good. KDB playing as CM getting 14 points was nice, Dunk 8 pointer was a good start to the week, Ings again, Martial who i never thought i would own did well, Gomez 8, and i did not need my bench-)

Rough; Salah cap again, not so frustrating as it were against Leicester but when i saw that wolves line up i was hoping for more. No point in doing this anymore, permacap Vardy or Ings-)

Rough; Vardy & Lundstram no-shows. Jimenez benched. Salah(c) fail, first week back in the team after switching for Mane whilst he was carrying that ankle for the two weeks before the blank when Salah went on to haul and Mane went quiet!

Smooth; Trent & Robertson shut-outs, Ryan too. KdB haul.

54 points for the GW. Despite three captain fails over Xmas I've edged up from 23k to 15k.

Smooth - was worried going into Sunday but Mane, TAA KDB(C) saved the week, plus getting Abraham off the bench was nice. 67 points and up to 3k, 10 green arrows in a row!

Vardy (C), Soyuncu, Lundstram no shows.
Salah (VC), Sterling, Aurier, Jimenez, Grealish, Zaha, Pope, Hayden(b3), Kelly(b2) blanks. Only people to return were Tammy and Robertson. Gameweek rank of 7.1 million makes it my worst ever gameweek.

      59 points after a hit
Smooth : Martial/Rash/KDB and double pool defence again saved me.
Rough : Again a disaster transfer. Took out Tammy/Tielemans and went Salah(C)/Greenwood. Had a plan to do Maupay instead of Greenwood but had to do another hit (Pulisic to Traore was that plan) But ditched that last second. Not a big point swing but would have been a great transfer coming this week.

Son ➡ Mane instead of Salah after his red card was the smooth. Mane (c).

Rough. Transferred Abraham out for Maupay. Aurier, Lordstram, Jiminez, Soy, Maddi, Vardy (c) totaled me 1 pt.

Smooth (i.e luck!) - Kdb (vc)

All smooths here after seeing my rank plummet over the last few weeks from 30k > 112K at worst.

76 points after a KdB (c) haul and I'm at 60K. Only rough was losing my mini league top score bonus by one point. £25 quid because Donkey got subbed at 58 mins..

      smooth,
i had enough money itb after selling Son for Grealish the other week to take a - 8 to bring in and captain Martial(16), TAA(8) & Kiko(6), for Hayden Zouma & Guilbert, so for once a hit actually worked out really well

      Roughish
52pts after the hit for a small red, Grealish only getting 1 point off my bench for Vardy + Zaha and Sterling being useless again didn't help

Rough: i missed the deadline on my wildcard and so ended up with most of my old team and a couple fillers who were in for price rises just in case i needed them (dings and traore)

Gw 19 and 20 tale of woe - transferred out Alexander-Arnold (32 points in two games, yes, stupid I know, but I looked at the fixtures and thought they would concede every game for the next five or six) and brought in Otamendi (0 points over the two games). Merde.

I went Maupay 2 weeks ago but I would go DCL now - he seems to be a lot more central to Ancelotti's plan than I thought he would be, and watching Maupay against Bournemouth on Saturday he quite bad.

possibly but I’d wait a GW. If I’ve no other pressing matters I might do the switch. In your case I’d prob just get DCL over Maupay but like I said the next fixture for both isn’t the best...

DCL all the way. Looks like he is central to Carlo's plans now and plays for a much attacking Everton side. Maupay always seems to pass the eye test but as Az pointed out somewhere he is not an fpl option. Brings other players into the game rather than scoring goals

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 7 Years

i bought Maupay, and with the knowledge that he is somewhat wasteful, he is no Ings in that matter but i do like the way Brighton play as it feels like they can score vs anyone, which means i feel less inclined to bench just because the fixture looks bad. He takes pens, that´s nice for a 5.8 striker in a team that attacks.

DCL is a better striker in all departments and a better finisher, so this was close, but he is not on pens (as far as we know) and i like the brighton fixtures. Everton does look better and might be changing if Everton improves.

Those with the Salah/Mane/TAA triple up already... what's the plan?

I *think* I'm happy to stick but the Mane/Robertson/TAA triple-up does appeal. Releases a lot of funds and also avoids the captaincy headache.

However, Salah's and Mane's hauls are unpredictable so, at least by owning both, you're covering both bases.

I keep screwing up with these 3. Took out Trent to get Salah, lost 24 points, captained Salah for sweet FA, Mane is the one in form.

So... conclusion ? Own all 3 till the end of the season and captain KDB every week !

I hear you Le Buff. Perhaps we have been playing too long and overthink it ?

At the time, it seemed the right decision didn’t it ? Given TAA had not been hauling. Salah was on form. Kept Mane.
It cost about 50 points for me, because I raged TAA back in this week, took out Rashford and Tammy for Ings and Raul.

From now on. Minimal hits and keep the talisman.

KDB is the way to go to avoid frustration.

i have Gomez instead and my plan is to get VVD as i also want a defender around 5.5, Chilwell or Sidibe` as i´m so tired of having either boring picks like Kelly who only cs potential but that was screwed when all the injuries kept coming and Aurier who plays OOP but actually worse than when he is playing in a back four, he never gets the ball from his team-mates, and Spurs concedes in every game. I´m saving a ft now to get Aurier to Sidibe, and then i will probably have to downgrade Martial or Grealish to get Fabianski and VVD. That decision will be detrmined by Villa´s performances-)

    Pope 4.6, 4.0
    TAA 7.2, Soyuncu 4.8, Lund 4.6, Kelly 4.2, Reid 3.9
    Salah 12.2, KDB 10, Sterling 11.8, Alli 8.6, Grealish 6.3
    Vardy 9.8, Jiminez 7.3, Greenwood 4.3
    0.1 in the bank

I'm looking to move Sterling on for Mane this week but I am 0.4 short. Luckily I have a second free transfer but I am struggling to see where I can extract the 0.4 from in my team. I've included the selling values of all my players.

The only move I can see is Grealish to Traore, but I have been quite impressed with Grealish and he is value in my eyes, so if anyone could see an easier route to that 0.4 I'd love to hear your suggestions

I enjoyed owning Maddison before the city and pool games, but I always feel he is quite limited in terms of his points ceiling. Martial comes with his obvious caveats. So overall I prefer Alli, but a cool 1m saving is tempting.

firstly, i would not bother with SHU home next, liverpool will win but not by much. If you want to anyway, i would be tempted to go Alli-martial, then you get 0.4 left itb, Kelly will get 2 or 3 more games at max, so then i would thinking of either upgrade him or Reid, latter could be Femenia and then you could just swap Kelly for Ward.

GW24 isn't very far away now and as we all know Liverpool have a double gameweek (West Ham too...)

Three players seems a must, or is it?

If going for three the big question on everyone's mind is double defence or attack, which is the best way to go?

Could one of Gomez or Van Dijk "cover" for Robertson or Alexander-Arnold?

    What are your current plans?

      3 definitely a must.

Mane/TAA locked in for me. Will prob wait until last minute to decide on Salah/Robbo. No compromises for me though - won’t be Gomez or VVD.

Leaning towards Salah as greater points potential than Robbo for the DGW.

Took out Mane before his blank and lost £0.4 of value. Brought in Salah before the boxing day fixtures.

After some soul searching, i'm going to swallow my pride and admit selling Mane was a mistake.

I think double liverpool attack is much more dangerous and will score more points. Captain headache is not the end of the world.

        Possibly...

Team structure certainly plays a part.

With TAA and cheapies in defence and Vardy, Ings, Maupau (DCL later?) I can afford midfield with Salah, Mane, KdB and Martial.

After having ditched Mane for blank in order to change him to Salah, I thought I was forced to ditch Alli for Mane. And Son red card before that meant straight swap from him to Salah.

So I am early owning my trio due to Son rc and "Alli injury", but hopefully able to handle other matters now.

Robbo, TAA and Salah/Mane for me. Had the double defence all season apart from GW18 & 19 and it has served me well.
The double up on Mane and Salah is probably the better option but for me that would mean selling KDB whom I've had since the start and built up a lot of value in. Also I don't want the headache of which one to put the triple captain on!

      try for the 2 mids.
don't see them keeping a CS at Wolves in DGW and there's Spurs & Utd leading into the DGW,.
Still a lot of money carrying TAA, Salah & Mane.

I already have Salah and TAA.

I had 2 FTs and enough money for Alli -> Mane, but I didn't find a replacement for Otamendi that I liked. And no replacement for Grealish either, for similar price...

So yesterday I did Grealish -> Martial, and I will get Robo for Otamendi. Team looks more balaced that way.

Or should I get VVD instead of Robo? VVD have no replacement in this team...

Currently it is Gomez and the two mids, if i´m right Klopp will persist in playing Gomez even if the other is back, but might go VVD as what i saw yesterday is that Gomez stays in midfield on set pieces and that was off putting, i have a possible route to move to VVD, so might do that

If I triple up, it'll be with Alison.

3 games in 9 days, after they've played United at home.

Surely there'll be some rest before UCL gets going again.

I've had Trent & Robertson since first draft, and Salah nearly all season, apart from switching to Mane for a few weeks before the blank. Just brought Salah back in after the Son hokey-cokey disaster only for Mane to outscore this week lol.

Is this the best week to use triple captain? Or will there be easier fixtures in a double down the line. Think this is important to factor in as might make the attacking double up more attractive as can triple captain either salah or mane depending on form

I think Salah + Mane is not ideal. First because it imbalances your team structure, it's inevitable. Either you lose KDB or Alli. Either you lose Kane or Rashford. If it's defence you downgrade ...well .... good luck with that.

Secondly, because with 3 matches in 9 days I seriously doubt Salah & Mane won't be rotated. Defensive assets are clearly less prone to rotation especially VVD and Alisson. Those 2 are guaranteed starters in all.

I guess it's wait and see for now. Monitor who will play until then and how many minutes. I have Mane and TAA already. Currently, I am leaning towards Gomez or Firmino as a differential. For now, I don't like the idea of having Salah, but that could change. In that case, I would downgrade Rashford to DCL and could bring him on for Maddison. Wolves away look problematic so no guarantee for that match in terms of goals. Double defence could maybe work better.

As I read responses think persuaded rotation likely- got Salah TAA for now and for best security of starts may well go Van Dijk. Certainly structure wise easier to achieve as don’t want to lose KDB and with Spurs home to Norwich that week don’t want to lose Alli either

Current plan is actually TAA, Mane/Salah and Firmino. May switch to a double defence. Unless using a free hit mane/Salah is going to cause a lot of issues to the rest of my team.

Not going to get cute and just get Salah, Mane, TAA. I have the means to do it with good team value and I don't think cheap strikers like Ings or DCL are actually worse than their more expensive options.

      Look:
      Salah, Mane, KdB, Martial
      Vardy, Ings, DCL

Late to the question and long-time lurker/infrequent poster but here's my thoughts...
Looking at upcoming fixtures I think one of the key questions is also about the timing of the triple-up move.
My main rival has gone early with getting Salah in to give himself Salah, Mane plus TAA which may be influencing my thinking but SHU, tot, MUN doesn't seem attractive enough to me for me to go for the triple up immediately. I'm going to wait until week 23 to make my move which will also allow me to assess further whether to go for VVD (easy switch) or Salah (involves more surgery and possibly the departure of KDB).
By leaving the decision until week 23 I can also feel a little bit more comfortable about losing KDB with City fixtures not that appealing: shu, tot, WHU, lei, ARS versus very appealing Liverpool fixtures: wol/whu, SOU, nor, WHU, wat
Am hoping that by postponing my move I can make some gains over the next few weeks and still benefit from week 24 and beyond.

it would be wrong to say no risk, but minimal as he is so important to Pep right now so unlikely. Everton are no push overs and Pep will take pride in beating Ancelotti team.No games to rest him for is it? 10 days til next league game. Likely subbed after 70 min, if they lead comfortably. Same goes for Klopp, Milner and Keita will start in midfield, but very likely he plays the front three vs SHU as he will see them as a difficult match and Shaqiri out for a couple of games also, so not really that much choice, he might go Origi but to break down that SHU defence he will need cleverness and heel-clicks, Origi is more suited to games where opposition tries to play our game.

Slightly disagree. Lallana is the midfield backup and Milner being kept as cover for Trent/Robbo as Matip/Lovren are out
Origi will most likely start vs Everton in FA cup, as he’s scored against them a few times (maybe shaq too)
