Meet the Manager #19 – Pranil Sheth (Lateriser12)

Among ProPundit Pranil Sheth‘s standout phrases when he discusses his stellar Fantasy Premier League career is, “hit home, hit hard”.

Making high-impact decisions quickly, around form and fixtures, is how Pranil has achieved the remarkable feat of two top 200 finishes and has never completed a campaign outside the top 50K in his last seven seasons.

The pinnacle of this remarkable run was his finish of 77th in 2015/16 and reaching the dizzy heights at one point during the 2012/13 season of 22nd, before finishing in 189th spot.

Over these campaigns, he has ruthlessly focused on ensuring he has the best chance of beating those around him with strong, often low-owned, premium options that can better the game’s popular picks each week.

A case in point was this season when he successfully backed Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah with the armband over runaway favourite Jamie Vardy.

During his chat with Joe, Pranil reveals why he is happy to take hits as he looks to take out his opponents swiftly. Bold moves are also needed for success when reaching the very highest rank spots, he explains.

Such is his commitment to FPL that he took a break during the 2014/15 campaign to spend time setting up his business. Embarking on a season not fully focused on FPL is simply not an option for Pranil.

Elsewhere, he explains why his ranks were so bad at the start of his FPL career in 2008 and why friendly rivalry took precedent back then.

He also pays tribute to this site and its community for helping with his recent success.

Half wondering whether KdB finally gets a rest. He’s been rotation proof almost all season - which is spooky. Could Dilva back be the catalyst?

Are there many people playing COD these days? Haven’t played in over 5 years myself.

Seems so. I’ve only just discovered. Haven’t played computer games for years but I was away in Hungary, bored to tears at my wife’s house and needed something to save me. Heard COD was popular and am absolutely loving it.

In my opinion, a lot of people are ruining their teams in the scramble to get both Mane and Salah. Removing key players like KDB could seriously backfire, likewise Maddison with a plum home fixture.

I see a narrow win for Pool in each game, Wolves away won't be easy and even West Ham look much tighter under Moyes, especially with Fabianski back in goal.

And by the way, I have a fairly decent TV and could easily afford to get both before anyone asks, ha. (I'm going with Salah, TAA & Robbo for what it's worth).

In any case, GL with whatever you choose.

This, likely a DGW disappointment again. Pool wins yes, but not high scoring

But if they win by a 2/3 goal margin (as many expect), the likelihood of both Salah and Mane being in the points is extremely high.

People are trying to justify the defensive double-up by claiming these could be tight games, which probably means they half-expect Liverpool to concede which will immediately wipe TAA's and Robbo's main source of points.

What do you do with the extra spare cash if you don't go for Salah+Mane+TAA, though? I currently have:

      Pope / Button
      TAA / Balbuena / Lundstram / Rico / Kelly
      Salah / Mane / KDB / Grealish / Cantwell
      Vardy / Ings / Abraham

I don't feel I've compromised anywhere to get to that team. Salah and Mane are posting the best stats, playing for the best team as midfielders but are basically strikers, and have a DGW with very little chance of rotation.

Sure, Kelly could become Robbo and Salah/Mane could become Maddison/Richarlison, but there's so much more potential owning both Salah and Mane, IMO.

    Callum Wilson:
I’m SO tempted to bring him back into my squad. Those fixtures look amazing and they hammered Luton in the Cup. Surely they can turn a corner with the upcoming fixtures and find their form again?

All good points and thank you. Yeah he has been inconsistent but the upside is huge with him too. Eddie’s too good a manager to see them fighting a relegation battle - I really see an upturn in form and Wilson coming to the fore again.

Awful shout. Bournemouth are woefully out of form and have the lowest xG in the league at the moment.

Ings, DCL, Maupay, Abraham, Vardy all better picks.

I'd rather go 3-5-2 and invest Wilson's price tag into someone like Richarlison/Martial instead.

    Hi All,

    2 FT's, 0.4 ITB

    Pope / Button
    TAA / Robboo / Soy / Lund / Kelly
    Salah / KdB / Alli / Grealish / Cantwell
    Vardy / Ings / Pukki

    Thinking Alli/Pukki to Richarlison/Maupay or Martial/DCL.

    Any thoughts?

GTG? Starting DCL over Grealish look fine?

(Tripling up pool as I plan to do Aurier & KDB to Gomez and Mane in GW24)

    GK: Ryan (Button)
DEF: Lundy, TAA, Aurier (Targett, Kelly)
MID: Richarlison, KDB, Son, Martial (Grealish)

Morning all, I’m truly stuck. Got some options mind. Will be looking into obviously getting Liverpool attacking options. And got some benching issues.
But definitely need some help for this GW. I have 2fts and 0.8 ITB. My priority is Gazzaniga our for Ryan or Fab. But who do I bench this week, Alli perhaps? Do I play Otamendi after he played last night. Is Sterling a viable choice after playing 90mims last night and also not very well. Not sure how I got in this no KDB and Liverpool pickle. Any suggestions most welcome, cheers all.

Perhaps meaningless but Mane has been more consistent away than Mo.

Going for the obvious Vardy - have all 3 of the above

    Vardy(c) Jimenez Abraham

    This team ok?

      Very nice

(By which I mean of course my squad is close to identical - Martial for Tammy and no Soy)
