Who are the best Arsenal players to consider under Mikel Arteta?

Won one, drawn one, lost one: Mikel Arteta has had a so-so start to life as Arsenal manager by way of Premier League results.

Monday night’s victory over Leeds United in the FA Cup was also a Jekyll-and-Hyde display, with the Gunners very much second-best to their Championship opponents in the first half before drastically improving after the break.

While the scorelines haven’t always gone Arteta’s way, there have been visible signs of improvement under his stewardship.

Should Fantasy managers be renewing their interest in Arsenal assets, then?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m) aside, we have largely dodged the Gunners this season: the Gabon international is the only one of Arteta’s squad who can boast a double-digit ownership in Fantasy Premier League at present.

FPL bosses may have been sufficiently scarred by Unai Emery’s team selections or the Londoners’ dismal away form in the preceding 18 months to be tentative about revisiting Aubameyang and co for now.

Still, the fixtures demand our interest.

Arsenal face only two of the current top seven between now and Gameweek 32 (the clash with Manchester City in Gameweek 28 may well be rearranged due to the Citizens’ likely involvement in the EFL Cup final) and sit fourth in our Season Ticker as a result.

With that in mind, we follow up our recent articles on Watford and Everton by looking more closely at the impact that Arteta has had on the Gunners.

That’s true. Although he doesn’t offer much offensively.

Sure... Aurier is a good pick if he keeps getting attacking returns. Had him for a while, but downgraded and moved money elsewhere.

Utd have been and will continue to be the biggest trap of this season. They look great, we get them in and the deliver tripe right afterwards. The mentality is just not right and they let themselves down at the points they should actually be shinning. Personally would touch them but if I had them and this is the worst thing and what the trap is, I would hold just in case they go rampant especially playing Norwich next.

Off topic. I've just red in Polish press that Piatek from AC Milan said "yes" to Premier League movement - Aston Villa seems to be interested the most (30 mln euro). Can be interesting...

Do Villa really have another 30 mill to spend?

Perhaps but that would take their annual spend to something well over 150 mill. That can’t make sense surely.

You should worry about Chilwell's 'defending' mate, that was the weakness in an otherwise solid performance, defensively.

I have had him for since game week 8 and Benched him 8 times. For his price he is benchable and if I don’t think leicester will get a cleanie that is where he will go. I don’t think Ndidi missing will make any difference.

Yeah thx, got Traore as well and combined with the tricky beyond next 2 fixtures making Jimmy less attractive. Compared the two and DCL stats match Jimmy well with Jimmy's sways to assisting whilst DCL scoring ... considering the price difference DCL looks to be the winner. Agree though Jimmy is a better player.

What's going on with Digne? Not delivering anticipated returns. Is Ancelloti in the market for a striker too?

        1. Doolittle
          • 11 Years
          4 years, 2 months ago

We just look disjointed as a team. A couple of positive signs since Ancelotti came in, but we were absolutely dreadful in the FA Cup. Digne isn't looking the threat that he has done previously; that could change with the fixture swing, but I wouldn't be tempted by him at the moment.

I doubt Ancelotti would be in the market for a striker. He seems to really rate DCL (despite reservations about Everton generally, I may bring him in this week) and we know he tried to sign Moise Kean for Napoli.

There's just a toxic atmosphere at the club at the moment. There are a group of overpaid, dreadfully performing players like Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Delph and Walcott, there are clear attitude problems, and apparently some of them are already questioning Ancelotti's tactics.

          https://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com/2020/1/8/21056766/everton-players-mutiny-protest-duncan-ferguson-ancelotti-delph-sigurdsson-schneiderlin-supporters

Schneiderlin is absolutely shocking, I can't believe we almost got our money back on him.

fixtures, good manager, some nice looking punts in DCL and Sidibe/Digne to add to Richarlison...at the 1m mark so nothing to lose and need to try something different to give my squad a bit of a boost as its having a torrid time despite looking very good on paper at times!

See above. I like DCL and may well get him myself, but as a team we're a mess.

Jesus and Aguero to start together against Villa?

Jesus preferred over Aguero after this week too?

very hard to predict who will start that game...

Dilva and KdB should be secure to start. Others ? I dont think so..

        Why is Dilva a definite?

Which player would you really want to own this week but don’t have and no easy way to get? Aguero here

Grealish no brainer. Talisman of Villa. On pens. Best player. Play every game 90 minutes and he is far better player then these 2

    Heaton
    TAA, Lund, Dunk
    Salah, KDB, Alli, Martial
    Vardy, Rash, Ings

    Martin, Traore, Kelly, Rico

This week - Heaton to Fab
GW23 - Rash to Calvert Lewin / Maup (thinking the former?)
GW24 - Alli and Martial to Mane and Felipe

No hits, gives me 3 Lpool and 2 WH, how does that look?
