Masuaku set for attacking midfield in Gameweek 22 opener

David Moyes has re-opened the door to an avenue once thought firmly closed.

Fantasy Premier League defender Arthur Masuaku (£4.2m) looks set for a return to the attacking midfield role he played during Moyes’ first spell as the West Ham manager.

He has been named in the same side as Aaron Cresswell (£4.7m) while attacking midfielders Robert Snodgrass (£5.2m) and Pablo Fornals (£6.0m) are both on the bench.

With the Hammers preparing for two fixtures in Double Gameweek 24, all eyes will be on Masuaku tonight.

Meanwhile, there is just one change to the Sheffield United side that lost at Liverpool.

Lys Mousset (£4.8m) drops to the bench so that Oli McBurnie (£5.7m) can star alongside David McGoldrick (£5.4m) up-front.

That means key Fantasy assets such as John Lundstram (£5.1m) and Dean Henderson (£4.9m) keep their places in the starting line-up.

Sheffield United XI: D Henderson; O’Connell, Egan, Basham; Stevens, Fleck, Norwood, Lundstram, Baldock; McBurnie, McGoldrick.

West Ham United XI: Fabianski; Cresswell, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Zabaleta; Noble, Rice; Masuaku, Lanzini, Anderson; Haller.

Surely ref should look at the footage and determine whether that was a deliberate handball or accidental and whether the goal should be allowed or not. Refs are becoming lazy now.

Read the rules, there is no intention/accidental handball judgement from this season. VAR was correct. Let us double Shef Utd defence owners enjoy our moment 😉

Dreamgoal for us Lundstram owners. But I knew in my heart that it would be ruled out with VAR, was sitting quiet and waiting for it to be ruled out even that I couldnt see anything wrong. That is what fotball has become.

I thought it was rightfully ruled out. I only have Lundstram in FPL so not worth extra points to me by SHU keeping a CS. The ball deflected off Rice's hand in the build up to the goal.

VAR is an utter joke. No one asked for VAR to be used to change decisions anyone with a brain can see are not breaches of the rules of the game. That has never been handball in any season, except this one where they introduced a new joke rule so the VAR morons have more to while sitting with their cheeto dusted fingers up their arse in their little basement.

VAR being used to remove goals that would have been perfectly legitimate if not for a VAR-tailored new rule... Ridiculous.

It's a crap rule but I can see why they thought it would be a good idea.

Sometimes you get those goals where it's hard to decide if it should be handball, so they just decided to make them all handball so there's no argument about it.

Why the F havent they made all defensive handballs handball as well then? The inconsistency is the worst. Its like they realize that if all handballs from defenders in then box were enforced, it would be a ridiculous amount of unwarranted penalties.

How can they not see that when they enforce it like that for attackers, it will result in a lot of unwarranted disallowed goals?? Its baffling. The people who made the rule are literally room temperature IQ
