FFS CUP

The results from the seventh round of the open-to-all 2019/20 FFS Cup are available by clicking here.

The quarter-final draw in full can be accessed here or viewed below.

Our highest-ranked manager in round seven, Teddy Brewski, bowed out after a 54-50 defeat to TOMYG84.

The all-top 10k clash between Mataatti and Leggend2 went the way of the former, who has now seen off a manager inside the top 10,000 three rounds running.

Our only two site users in the round of 16 who sat outside the top 100,000 met each other in round seven, with stamfordbridge narrowly defeating A Team Has No Name 52-51.

Philman also won by a single-point margin, while site regular AMEY progressed to the last eight, too.

As well as Mataatti, Gamesz Rodriguez is our only other remaining manager inside the top 10k.

I capped kdb last week but weary of capping him again. It's hard to call whether pep will ask him to play advanced or sitting really deep like he did against villa, he was quite lucky to get 2assists. He mostly sat very deep, no chance of a goal. Palace will sit in deep, Kdb normally sits deep to dictate play against these types of teams. A decent choice but not an explosive option..

This is true, hes always capable of magic. But when hes so deep he has to produce magic for fpl points, and his goal threat is non-existent. Then when hes asked to go higher hes devastating. Its pep roulette on this to be honest as he can start a game as an almost second striker and then end it as a defensive mid..

Can anyone help with these 2 possible options over the next 2/3 Gw’s?

    Option 1

    Gw 23 - Guaita > McCarthy
Gw 24 - pereira > Robertson (Robbo + TAA double)

    Or

    Option 2

    GW 23 - Guaita > McCarty
Gw 24 - Pereira > Gomez (Gomez + TAA double)
    GW 25 - Mount > Martial

Problem with 2 is things get in the way and disrupt plans that far forward

Bottomed on previous post. Something that I think is massively being overlooked in the big debate on which Liverpool players to get (on here but also on Twitter), are their fixtures post the double game week.

    They are:
    Sou (H), Nor (A), WHU (H), Wat (A), Bou (H)

Looking at those fixtures double attack could be lethal as Liverpool make a big push to rack up the wins as quickly as possible.

Those teams are 5 of the bottom 8 teams for total goals conceded this season...

    1. Now I'm Panicking
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

Absolutely - and you want all the players that are likely to get the game-changing points (if they happen) in this period. Not even considering anything other than Mane/Salah/TAA.

I have gone Robbo Taa Mane from 3 GW's.
      Not thinking about it anymore.

You are right probably. I am banking on Pool CS all the way ....

this is another thing I wanted to add. All options are excellent!

My point is rather than focus fully on double gameweek look ahead at next 5 fixtures too and make the decision on a 6 week period.

        1. Amey

Thing is, Liverpool have more players to choose from up front, than they have in defence. Robbo/TAA are more or less safe from rotation and are so vital to the way 'Pool play.
Salah and Mané are of course vital as well, but with Minamino, Shaq, Origi all viable options, Klopp might opt to rotate his front three more often.

It's such a difficult choice though. Am currently on TAA/Robbo/Mané.

Taa Robbo are brilliant attacking wise too. Let's see how it goes

But it just feels like all those replace the 3 mids or firmino. Minamino is still 50:50 in a new league trying to break into a well settled team. Salah/Mane might be subbed early but they'll probably feature a lot.

          1. Dion D's Solo Shower
            • 6 Years
            4 years, 2 months ago

Yeah, it's hard to predict. But think Salah and Mané will feature heavily as well.
Will propably go back and forth on this decision right up until deadline!

      3. Don Kloppeone
        • 6 Years

Personally think your Robbo/ TAA option could be equally as potent if we manage to keep a good spread of CSs and they carry on assisting consistently.

Hopefully a nice few weeks for all of us!

This drove my decision to go Salah, Mané, TAA more than the DGW itself.

Hoping that this decision will be the kick I need to get back into decent ranks!

Currently on TAA and Mane and, like pretty much everyone else, trying to figure out who to get for my 3rd Pool player.

Any logic in going with VVD over both Robertson and Salah (if money were no issue)? Just wondering if he is more "rotation-proof" than those two (and, really, than anyone else in the squad)...

        VVD rotation proof, no doubt.
The higher ceiling with TAA and Robbo is just more appealing.

I get the higher ceiling, but also weighing the fact that VVD only has 6 fewer points than Robertson while being 0.6 million cheaper and nearly rotation proof. Mix in VVD's penchant for a headed goal, and just wondering if he might be on par with Robertson at least (at the moment).

    Salah + Richarlison + Martinelli (or 5.0 M FWD)

VS Salah + Grealish + DCL

Already have TAA and Mane. Which one would you go for ? No hits for either. Could easily get Robbo too but I think there are better returns with 2 mids. Can always change after if it doesnt work out.

Kun by far the hottest favourite to score this weekend with William Hill at 4/11. Which means having to bet 275 units to win 100.

Followed by Jesus at 6/10. Converts to betting 167ish units to win 100.

In third they have Tammy at 7/10. 143ish units to win 100.

Better odds probably available if you look around.

I know the FA matches are likely to throw everything into disarray, but how's this WC squad?

    McCarthy - Button
    TAA - VvD - Holgate - Lundstram - Janmaat
    Mane - KdB - Sarr - CHO - Cantwell
    Aguero - Vardy - Ings

    1. Don Kloppeone
      • 6 Years

It's different I'll give you that!

Mostly strong but I think the mids are overall too weak. Sarr is a good pick as a 4th mid but as a 3rd I think it'll be expecting too much of him.

CHO I wouldn't have in a WC squad - or Janmaat for that matter.

Janmaat is another cheapo alternative to Williams and should play if healthy - though I'm not opposed to bringing Brandon back to save 0.1. I have 0 ITB, so I'm not sure what other alternatives to CHO I have, TBH. Maybe Fleck, but that doesn't really solve much.

          All fair points

I’d rather downgrade Cantwell to Dendo and use the cash on CHO

          Janmaat to Williams

Other than that it is a good team and Aguero is a great pick!

Couple of questions for this week for my team:

    Which one to start?
    A) Martial (liv)
    B) Cantwell (BOU)

    Who for Captain?
    1) KDB (CRY)
    2) Vardy (bur)
    3) Ings (WOL)
    4) Salah (MUN)
    5) Mané (MUN)

Currently have it on B 2.

Realised that for me going double Pool at the back is the right choice for the double. For ages I assumed I would just get Mane, to compliment my Salah and TAA. My team is all set up to do it but I realised now that in reality it isnt actually the best choice for me or my team because it comes down to this essentially:

    A. Zaha> Noble, Alli> Mane, play Lundstram vs City
    B. Zaha>Doucoure who has Villa, Keep Alli who has Norwich, bench Lundstram and play Robbo.

IMO the most points A is going to score is probably around 24 points, B is probably going to score closer to 26/28. And B doesnt leave my team in tatters in the following weeks. Cant believe im not going to get Mane but honestly looks like the double defence is better. Dumping Alli that week with Norwich at home feels bad.

I may live to regret this, if Mane explodes, Noble gets a pen and Lunds get a goal :/

    1. Holmes
      • 10 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

Its a long term thing. Over few weeks it should be fine if you can navigate fixtures and make good use of extra cash.

Similarly those of us who have gone with double attack will have to navigate with less cash and comparatively poor quality of players.

      1. have you seen cyan
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 2 months ago

It is long term for sure, but hoenstly I have been modest with the points for B saying 28 max. Alli and Doucoure could both hit double digits that week considering the defences they face. Noble and Lunds will just get appearance points imo unless they get lucky. So long term I figure B wins and short term (GW24) it wins as well.
Unless I have some mega bad luck

    2. SirT83

Good reasoning. I'm somewhere close to your thoughts with my team. If Mane I need to take a hit.

      1. have you seen cyan
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 2 months ago

Yea really depends your specific team, and the following weeks as well. I dont like hits at all, but to get in Mane as TC for a double its probably justified. But my team would be a joke in the two/three weeks after and I would need at least one hit to sort it out. I have spent many hours pondering this lol. My only bug bear with the double defence is I have to cap Salah I guess and I think Mane is the actual better captain choice. That sucks a bit but oh well, at least he is on pens I guess thats one positive and the more differential cap of the two.

Palace at City means KdB captain for me. Suspect a few are overrating Palace defence.

Yes Palace are better than Villa but this is a poor match up. They will sit back and try and soak it up just as Villa did. That’s rarely good at the Etihad.

Also there’s a gaping hole down the left flank and Kelly or possibly Ward on the right. Think that too is a recipe for disaster.

Finally worth noting that the victory at the Etihad and close call at Anfield last season were both in high scoring games. Palace just scored more in one and should have done in the other.

      • 6 Years

Think this game is perfect for KdB. His passing range will be needed to unlock a stubborn defence, his ability to shoot from distance will be very useful as well. If City get's a goal, he will most certainly be involved.

And he was subbed early against Villa, so he will be well rested.

        Interesting on the KdB subbing

I wonder if he’s moving into Kun territory from last season. Once the game is done- he’s off.

Notable that he’s got the most starts if all premium attackers bar Rashford
