Wood’s aerial presence could cause problems for Arsenal in Gameweek 25

Gameweek 24 saw double-digit returns for 17 players, 10 of whom have ownership of 5% or less – encouraging our search for effective differentials.

Options such as Jack Stephens (£4.4m), Nathan Redmond (£6.2m) and Aaron Mooy (£4.8m) all delivered for those willing to think outside of the box, while two of last week’s selections, Joe Gomez (£5.3m) and Sébastien Haller (£7.0m), returned eight and seven points respectively.

This time, we focus on three low-owned picks who we like for Gameweek 25 and beyond.

Chris Wood

Ownership: 1.5%

Price: £6.2m

GW25-29 fixtures: ARS | sou | BOU | new | TOT

Chris Wood’s (£6.2m) goal in the recent win over Manchester United took him to 10 for the campaign, which means he is now one of only 12 players to have scored 30 or more Premier League goals since the start of the 2017/18 season.

The New Zealand international has been a model of consistency since joining the Clarets from Leeds United in August 2017, with his latest goals helping to deliver back-to-back wins for Burnley, who now sit 13th in the table, just four points behind fifth.

His tally could be even higher this season, with his 24 big chances only bettered by Jamie Vardy (£9.9m). That points to a player who more often than not, is getting into good positions in front of goal.

With Arsenal, level with Burnley on 30 points, due at Turf Moor on Sunday, Wood’s aerial ability could be key.

His five goals from set plays are more than any other player this season, whilst only Newcastle United have conceded more attempts from dead ball situations than the Gunners.

Sean Dyche’s team appear to have moved up a gear when it comes to attacking in recent weeks, with more confidence on the ball, and given Wood has scored in his last two games, more could be on the way.

Harvey Barnes

Ownership: 0.9%

Price: £5.9m

GW25-29 fixtures: CHE | wol | MCI | nor | AVL

In recent weeks, Harvey Barnes (£5.9m) has established himself as one of Leicester City’s main offensive threats.

The 22-year-old winger has scored three goals in five appearances during January, netting against Burnley and West Ham United in the league, with his performance in the 4-1 win over the Hammers arguably the best of the season to date.

Barnes’ ability to create has caught the eye, too.

He has assisted seven goals for the Foxes so far this season, which is two more than James Maddison (£7.6m).

Whilst rotation is a slight concern, he’s now started 16 of the last 21 league matches, and seems to be finding his feet at the top level.

Leicester currently sit third in the Premier League table and look well-placed to finish in one of the Champions League spots. They have an opportunity to move 11 points clear of their opponents Chelsea, who sit fourth, this weekend, while it’s also worth noting Frank Lampard’s men have struggled to keep clean sheets away from Stamford Bridge this season, with just one in 12.

Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, there aren’t many hotter prospects than Barnes right now in the English game.

Martin Dubravka

Ownership: 1.6%

Price: £5.0m

GW25-29 fixtures: NOR | ars | cry | BUR | sou

Since arriving on Tyneside in January 2018, Slovakia international Martin Dubravka (£5.0m) has firmly established himself as Newcastle United’s number one.

In a season where the Magpies have often struggled in front of goal, Dubravka has produced a number of key saves.

In fact, his total of 97 is the best of any goalkeeper in the league, six more than second-placed Bernd Leno (£5.0m), which combined with six clean sheets, has seen him rise to fourth in the overall goalkeeper standings, on 92 points.

Newcastle boast one of the best home defences in the league this season, conceding just 12 goals in 12 games – only Liverpool (9) and Sheffield United (11) have conceded fewer.

They have also improved their form in recent weeks, having drawn at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton and won 1-0 at home against Chelsea.

Surprisingly, only 1.6% of FPL managers own Dubravka ahead of his home match against Norwich City.

A clean sheet is a real possibility with the Canaries only scoring six Premier League goals on the road all season. They’ve also created the fewest amount of Big Chances (seven) over the last six Gameweeks.

With a kind fixture run, Dubravka could be a major influence in the second half of 2019/20.

Which FPL assets topped goal threat, creativity and clean sheets this month?

Should I sell mane to fund Sidibe to Robertson and double Liv defence would be more economical over this fixture run?Or keep Salah and Mane?

What is your squad? I have 2 FT, and did Mane, Rico to Grealish and Robbo. The reason behind that moves are: now there are good mid price / cheap midfielders opportunity - Grealish, Traore, Cantwell, Fleck, Trossard/Moy. + Liverpool in the last 6 games don't score more than 2 goals and have 8 Clean sheets out of 9 games recently. + They could rotate players more for PL games, or play more conservatively, and putting all efforts in Champions League. + Mane reappearing is seeming too fast, in a rush, and can pick up injury again. Therefore I think double defence + funds is better than approximately 25 mil. for 2 players in a team, that rarely score more than 2 lately 🙂 That's what I think. I could be wrong of course. That game is hugely based on luck 🙂

How many free transfers do you have? And money in the bank? From what I've seen Mane to Grealish, and Sidibe/Kelly to Robbo is a good picks. Next week Maupay to Jimenez, because no Wolves attacker (Wolves are in great form and probably will finish in the 4th place) can hurt you. I want to note in your squad the following: Kelly - Ward is back so his place can be jeopardize, so is Lundstram (now SHU bought new midfielder, + Lundstram doesn't start or play a lot recently - that is a reason for concern), Sidibe has two allegedly good fixtures and then his fixtures turn into bad. So I think that double Liv defence will come good for your team. If you do Mane to Traore/Grealish and Kelly to Robbo. Next two targets for you are Jimenez and Lascelles from NEW instead of Sidibe (when the fixtures turns). I hope I helped you 🙂

Cheers. Given the fact that you have money, I can recommend you Grealish and Robbo. From what I've seen thus far, Perez make most of his best performances when Vardy was off the pitch. Now after the fact that, Vardy is back, I am not sure he will continue his good performances. I accept occasionally good games (some goal or assist), but not the same benefit. Though last year he finish incredibly well the season, but he was in NEW and he was in more significant position there. Grealish, on the other hand, is the main talisman for Aston Villa. Almost everything went through him. So I am leaning towards Grealish. About Traore, if you go for Jimenez next week, you will have Wolves cover 🙂 All the best and luck in the game 🙂

Nice mate. Which of these do you like?

                A. Mané+Maupay >> Traoré+Agüero/Auba

Both are very viable options. First of all I need some clarification:
                  1) Do you have 2 FT?
                  2) If you do have, after A) Mané+Maupay >> Traoré+Agüero/Auba, next week will you have the money for Aurier - Robbo or VVD or at least Gomez.
If you want to go for Auba / Aguero, I reckon go for it now. So they will play 3 fixtures and then you may be forced to swap them, due to GW 28 blanks for City, Arsenal, SHU and Villa. And thus far gaining the maximum from them. Aguero is fantastic player, but rotation risk with Pep is appaling. Now given the fact that Champions League is soon to be involved, that worries me about him. There is huge possibility Pep to choose Sterling and Aguero for UCL, and Mahrez and Jesus for Premier league and that can hurt you. I hope it wouldn't went that away, but no one knows for sure. Auba on the other hand has lower ceiling than Aguero IMO, but is more safer pick. + He has great record against Burnley. He scored at least 1 goal (sometimes 2) in the last 4 games against Burnley, if I am not mistaken. 🙂

                    Hi yes, 2FTs.

And Auba would allow me to get Gomez next week. But these options seem a little weak compared to Kun and VVD.

Yes they are. But I don't see a way to managed to do that transfers (Aguero and VVD) without a hit. And don't know if it would be worth for a hit. If you are comfortable ahead in your mini-league, you can risk that -4. Aguero is Aguero, if Pep let him play, he can bang 2-3 goals with easy against anyone and thus repay that -4 pts 🙂 If you go for that, I wish you luck and hope that Aguero will play at least in two full games of that three fixtures before blank GW and brings you a lot of points. 🙂 It will become interesting if they pulled the GW between Arsenal and City early and takes place in GW26 or 7. Then go for Aguero/Auba would be good strategy 🙂

Personally, I think so. Wilder doesn't become the manager he is by being a nice guy. Lundstram's form has dipped and his manager is doing what's best for the team performance. Who knows, Lundstram may even relish the challenge and fight for his place. Which is exactly the way Wilder wants it.

Priorities: Rico, Greenwood and Martial. Get rid.

I would save. You have good options for this gw and reassess later.

    Here's my WC team:

    Henderson ~ McCarthy
    Trent ~ VVD ~ Fernandez ~ E.Stevens ~ Boly
    Salah ~ Son ~ Grealish ~ H.Barnes ~ A.Traore
    Aubameyang ~ Jimenez ~ Ings

    No City attack.

Have value in Vardy but prefer Auba for next few. Good differential.

I love it! A lot of bench points but I understand if you have BB left plus you're better set up for blanks/doubles

Not really... no goal threat and worried about rotation.

            Dont really need the cash

All good then. Easy downgrade in case he keeps starting and you need the cash 🙂

Why though? Having compared SHU defs Stevens looks to be the better pick

I had him, but if you look at the stats in the members area they are very similar, and Stevens actually comes higher in some of them. He also has a much lower ownership

One thing that I could point out is that you don't have a guaranteed keeper for BGW31. Not that it's a massive must but was my reason going Pope over McCarthy (will try to save the FH for a DGW, see hot topic if interested) 🙂

    Tanganga (4.0) vs Williams (4.1) vs C Taylor (4.2)

To join TAA, VVD, Stephens and Lascelles

    Budget is 4.2

    Which one would you get?

I think Taylor - looks most nailed having started the last 7 and Burnley play in the big blank gw31

I like Auba but the problem with him is the poor team he's in. Only 3 hauls from him this season. Not enough for a player over 10m when there are guys cheaper who have been matching or bettering his points returns.

Trying to finalise my wildcard squad. Jeez what a headache. My rank is aweful so I want to bring in at least 3 differentials so my team isn't so template but every time I think I've identified a decent option, the fixture list almost slams the door shut. If it's not that it's the blank week 28 or uncertainty over starting places and minutes for example Perez and Barnes.

Fernandes maybe wait a week and then bring. I think with his internatnl exp and maturity, bruno will keep ticking in epl.if not explode as he will have all setpieces and soon Mctominay to look at defensive duties
