FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

Gameweek 26 will see the finals of both the FFS Members Cup and the FFS Cup take place.

We’ve got the full details of which Fantasy Football Scout users will be taking part below.

FFS CUP

The final of our first 2019/20 FFS Cup will be contested between AMEY and Philman.

The two managers are each ranked between the 20k-30k mark and both played their second Wildcards in Gameweek 25.

AMEY saw off Mataatti, our highest-ranked manager in the FFS Cup semi-finals, by 78 points to 69 at the weekend.

Philman defeated stamfordbridge 72-64 in our other last-four clash.

Mataatti and stamfordbridge will now contest the third/fourth-place play-off in Gameweek 26.

As for AMEY and Philman, there may not be much to separate them in the final.

Ten of their 15-man Wildcard squads were identical, while their team values are exactly the same when money in the bank is factored in (£105.7m).

Philman went slightly bigger at the back, while AMEY has plumped for three sub-£4.5m defenders and gone with Son Heung-min (£10.0m) in midfield.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m) and Jamie Vardy (£9.8m) are the big differences up top.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The final of the 2019/20 FFS Members Cup will be contested by Just-In-Cider and Pep Pig.

Both managers sit inside the top 10k and are separated by just 345 places in FPL.

They come into Gameweek 26’s final off the back of five successive green arrows, having each been outside the top 100,000 at the turn of the year.

The second Wildcards remain intact in both cases, too.

Just-In-Cider beat Becker Call Saul 64-53 in Gameweek 25, with the losing semi-finalist having dropped out of the top 1k in the process.

Pep Pig defeated maxp1907 76-73, meanwhile.

Our two vanquished managers will now contest the third/fourth-place play-off in Gameweek 26.

The two finalists share only six players ahead of this Saturday’s deadline, with Just-In-Cider having considerably more money to play with (£106.4m v £103.8m).

I'd probably just have both instead of Webster if that's an option - I prefer Doherty, even if value doesn't agree - not sure how EL will affect things though..

A technical question about Free Hits - I know one of you will know the answer ....

If I click on Free Hit on the Monday and decide to get rid of KDB, maybe I bought him at £9m and now he's £10m so I get £9.5m towards my Free Hit team and I click Save Team. Then on Tuesday I decide I do want KDB in my Free Hit team so I buy him. Do I pay £10m, so losing £0.5m, or do I get him back for the £9.5m I received?

When is it best to use FH, heard some people might be holding it for GW 34 or something but I have already played my WC so there is no point for me to get players for the blank GW 31 when I can not wildcard after it? FH 31 must be best if you have used ur WC?

I think GW31 is best whatever, assuming many big teams won't be playing due to FA Cup commitments

But if there are only three fixtures, and no big teams, there might not be much benefit to be achieved from the FH chip.

I have played my WC last week. I am thinking that W28 will be fine. W31 will be contain blanks. W34 or W37 may be DGW. I have TC & FH & BB available. I am looking at using FH for the best DGW if i can pass 31 in tact. If not it has to be FH31 - TC on a DGW - Looking at the fixtures and listening to the scoutcast i am seriously considering using BB during 27 or 29 with the fixtures and my current team.

For blank gameweek 31 I have seen a few saying not to use the FH because the teams playing aren't good enough to maximise the points. However I think the very fact that the teams playing are not 'good' surely means that most managers won't want to own those players in their actual squad, so unless you're going to ruin your actual squad by bringing in these players, you'll have a very bare team in week 31. Does anyone share my thoughts? For arguements sake lets say NEW v AST and NOR v EVE go ahead with the confirmed WOL v BOU and BUR v WAT fixtures, so we only have 4 fixtures in 31. If you are not using FH, then what are you doing?

    1. FPLShaqiri
      • 6 Years
      4 years, 1 month ago

Of the 2 matches definitely going ahead I own zero players (I realise most will have a Wolves player, maybe 2) so I see 31 as the perfect time to utilise FH. If Liverpool lose to Chelsea then this will massively change the thinking here.

      1. JBG
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

What teams are going to blank is going to be decided after gw29, right?

I'm still unsure what to do about that gw... You do make a good point. BUT i already used my TC, so wanna keep FH for one of the two next DGWs. But so unsure.

      2. Lord.

In your case FH may well be the way to go in GW31, but Managers need to balance what they might reasonably achieve with the chip, compared with what is possible using FTs (or as part of a WC plan). For those with 2-3 Wolves, Pope, and Richarlison/DCL/Digne, there may not be much extra benefit from a FH; especially compared to using it in, say, DGW34.

On the other hand, if Liverpool don't progress in the FA Cup, managing GW31 using FTs could also be very doable.

In my experience there can never be a one-size-fits-all approach to chip strategy, it will largely depend on what your team needs. I think a lot of people are going to navigate GW31 with a bare team just because it will be a low scoring week anyway, unless we see some crazy high scores by the likes of Wood, McNeil etc. Last year the big blank was extremely low scoring and those who saved their free hit got a better use out of it in one of the doubles. The year before, however, the free hit helped me navigate the blank that sat in between the doubles given my team structure.

If as you say you have 0 players, I see no reason to load your team in advance with players you don't want long term, so free hit in 31 sounds right for you.

Even if its just Norwich, Everton, Wolves, Bournemouth, Burnley and Watford who have games, I'd still be pretty confident you could make a decent one week team on a Free Hit, and hopefully make up some ground.

Exactly - people are being put off by the names of the teams involved and are not understanding it is a one GW chip. FPL points are scored in every match, even if it is crap v crap.

Wolves have nice fixtures leading up to it, and Watford after it - both have cheap decent options. The other teams have players that you can ordinarily bench (Lascelles/Cantwell/Rico etc.).

The problem with FHing a week like this is that you can still miss the highest scorer and potentially get an average score anyway - it's quite easy to load up on a load of 1/2-pointers and then be beaten by people that got Josh King or whatever

it does depend on what you already have though obviously, I'll have 3 Wolves and already have 3 Everton (probably 2 soon), Cantwell, Foster and Stacey so it shouldn't be too hard for my team

This is a good point too - free hitting in a double gives you much more room for error, whereas in a big blank you have a much, much smaller pool of high scorers and a whole bunch of 1/2s.

The problem with not using your FH is that you either end up fielding half a team, or you field a full team of players you don't want in your squad for more than one GW.

I will be using FH that week and use my transfers to get the players I want in my squad long-term leading up to the DGW.

I think that's the better strategy.

I agree - the only slight problem is that we won't know which teams will have a DGW in 34 until likely after GW31.

100% agree, for most not using FH on 31 means using all of your transfers between now and then for players on those few teams and it would be a big waste in my opinion.

The fact that it will be a big blank means a big DGW which makes sense to prepare with WC (or FTs if you don’t have WC) as many of the big-hitters will have a DGW and it will make sense to keep most of those players before and after anyway.

Hey fam! On WC! Have a few questions! Would be great if you all give some input!

    1. Fleck or ASM

    2. Robbo or VVD

    3. Moura or Bergwijn

Fleck now, if you have good cover for gw28.

      Vvd, Robbo not doing much.

Coin toss, both looked bad imo. But Bergwjin got a goal so, him I guess.

Fleck, but keep in mind 28.
      Robertson for sure.
Not keen on either, better options around that price point, IMO.

Afternoon all. Conscious that this question has been asked many times, but...

    Who should replace the lord?

    A) Stevens
    B) Egan
    C) O'Connell

Basically, is Stevens worth the extra dough? If he isn't, who is better out of Egan and O'Connell?

(Stevens numbers are much better than Baldock's so not considering him)

Yeah points are more important than cash at this stage of the season. Stevens is just more likely to get more points. Do you have him in your team?

Go with B,C if you're good enough with regular 6 pointers. With Stevens, you are giving yourself a shot at some 9-12 pointers, with a slightly higher outlay. You need to check how that 0.5 additional saving could help you in the future.

Stevens as long as it doesn't prevent some obvious future move you'd like to do

Interestingly Liverpool top the table for defensive errors over the last six (with 8). And yet none of those errors lead to goals. Still holding onto my double Liverpool defence but watching the games is definitely tense at the moment 🙂

Now I'm thinking about WCing, cause I have about 7 players I wanna get rid off, can get rid off them slowly but surely, but need to start with a -4 this GW. I'm arouns 180k OR.

    My team is:

    Henderson-Button*
    TAA-Lund*-Webster*-Catchart-Chilwell*
    Martial-Kdb-Salah-Maddison*-Dendo*
    Jimenez-Vardy*-Greenwood*

    *=Players I want out.
This GW I'm taking out Maddison and Greenwood for Traore/Grealish and Ings.

But what do you guys think?

I’m in much the same kind of situation. Really want to keep my wildcard to help navigate the blanks and doubles though so I’m considering a twelve point hit spread over two or three weeks.
