Lundstram benched again as unchanged Sheffield United face Bournemouth

While Manchester City v West Ham United has fallen victim to Storm Ciara, the Premier League’s other scheduled game on Sunday goes ahead.

Barring any late developments, Sheffield United v Bournemouth will kick off at 14:00 GMT.

The Blades are unchanged from Gameweek 25, meaning that John Lundstram (£5.0m) is benched for the third league match in a row.

Lundstram was the most-sold ‘defender’ of Gameweek 26 but is still in 43.3% of Fantasy Premier League teams overall and almost two-thirds of all top 10k squads, although his effective ownership statistics suggest a significant number of those benched him ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Of course, with City v West Ham now postponed and not guaranteed to be rescheduled within the winter break, Lundstram could well be auto-subbed into many of those sides.

Sander Berge (£5.0m) is handed his Bramall Lane debut, while Billy Sharp (£5.6m) makes his third successive start up front.

Dean Henderson (£5.1m), George Baldock (£5.1m) and John Fleck (£5.1m), who each enjoy double-digit ownerships in the top 10,000, all start.

Eddie Howe has made only one change to his Bournemouth side, with Andrew Surman (£4.7m) replacing the suspended Jefferson Lerma (£4.8m) in midfield.

Josh King (£6.1m) and Jack Stacey (£4.3m) are among the substitutes after six-week absences.

Diego Rico (£4.3m), who still sits in almost 25% of teams within the top 10k, also starts at left-back.

The Cherries have failed to score in four of their last five away matches, while Sheffield United have kept five shut-outs on home soil this season.

Sheffield United XI: Henderson; O’Connell, Egan, Basham; Stevens, Fleck, Norwood, Berge, Baldock; McBurnie, Sharp.

Bournemouth XI: Ramsdale; Smith, Francis, Ake, Rico; Surman, Gosling, Billing; H Wilson, C Wilson, Fraser.

At this point, pre GW28 blank, I feel like there’s no point in me replacing Lundstram with another Blades defender. Maybe after the blank, but...

If you have enough cover for GW28, why not? Their fixtures are great either side of the blank. I'll be replacing with SHU defender myself and playing Taylor/Rico in GW28.

      50% luck - 50% making wise decisions.

The 50% luck part seems like it’s kicking your ass this season.

It's part skill part luck and very emotional. The trouble is when you have bad luck you become despondent and convince yourself it's all luck based. When you haul you convince yourself it's skill and that you're an FPL maestro.

If it was down to luck, the really good ff players wouldn’t be able to be so consistent.

Of course luck plays a part (as it does in most games).

Easy to blame your poor decision making on bad luck.

Aof course luck is involved, I think the biggest factor is how you respond to 'bad luck', it's about keeping a steady head, thinking rational and making wise moves whilst taking the odd calculated risk.

When bad things happen, which we perceive to be bad luck, I think we can all easily make silly decisions etc in response. It's this bit which the separates the good and bad players.

I disagree. It is the cumulative impact of bad luck, which can't be accounted for.

There will be people (not me) who will have transferred out Pope to Ryan or Foster (or someone similar) and then Pope hauls.
A week later they will have TC Mane
And this GW they will have Aguero(c).

No 'bad' responses there, IMO. But destoryed by bad luck.

But if you did nothing, don't you think good and bad luck would even out over 38 gameweeks?

No. Another fallacy about 'luck'. "Swings and roundabouts", "it all evens out in the end".

It doesn't even out most of the time. There are some who are very unlucky. There are others who are very lucky. Of course most are in-between (a little lucky, a little unlucky). But this idea that it all evens out is just a way of making people feel better. There is no evidence that for every good piece of luck you get a bad piece and it all evens out.

Gameweek 27 does not start until 11.30 on the 22nd Feb.
If the game is played before then (albeit unlikely). Does that mean that it will count towards this gameweeks points.
Only asking cos I have kun (c) KDB and mahrez. I'm sounding desperate I know. At least I didn't have KDB (vc). Cmon Salah.
