New date for Man City v West Ham – which remains in Gameweek 26

Manchester City’s postponed match against West Ham has been rearranged for Wednesday, February 19.

The game will kick off at 7:30 pm GMT.

Crucially, it means that the fixture will still take place within the confines of Gameweek 26.

Originally, Manchester City and West Ham were due to meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, February 9.

However, adverse weather conditions, caused by Storm Ciara, forced officials to call the fixture off.

Since Sunday, the Fantasy community has been rife with theories over when the match would take place.

Initially, it looked unlikely to be scheduled for a later date in the Winter Break with suggestions that it could lead to either a Double Gameweek 29 or even a Double Gameweek 38.

Either way, it appeared as if those Fantasy managers invested in Manchester City and West Ham players would end up with no Gameweek 26 points from these options.

That was an especially painful development for those who had captained Sergio Aguero (£12.1m) and vice-captained Kevin De Bruyne (£10.8m) – and vice versa – as they would not have got any points out of their armband.

However, these, previously unfortunate, Fantasy managers have been handed a reprieve with this latest news.

The rearranged date falls within Gameweek 26, ensuring that Manchester City players selected to start against West Ham will score points for this round.

While that is, of course, an encouraging development, this rearrangement does place a Premier League match just a few days before Manchester City’s trip to Leicester on Saturday February 22, which takes place in Gameweek 27.

Furthermore, the Champions League second-round first-leg trip to Real Madrid is just four days after that match, meaning three important outings for Pep Guardiola’s men in seven days which could, of course, lead to some rotation.

Perhaps the only other managers not cheering this news will be those with Gameweek 26 points on their bench at this current point.

John Lundstram (£5.0m) was a popular substitute last weekend as he scored the winning goal for Sheffield United against Bournemouth, but his seven-point haul may well be consigned to the bench by the re-appearance of Manchester City players.

City news makes next to no difference in my MLs - everyone has KDB, nobody of note has Kun. I'm kind of glad it will now reward those of us who actually started Lundstram, but still a bit gutted to see the dream of a TGW iced for another season.

"I'm kind of glad it will now reward those of us who actually started Lundstram"

I think that's a little bit rich. Lundstram was benched by Sheffield Utd again so everyone in FPL who benched him theoretically made the right decision.

You didn't start him because you expected a goal in a 30 minute sub appearance.

Thanks, and honestly well done for getting his points! I just think that anybody who had even a half-decent alternative to Lundstram made the right call by benching him this GW.

He’s not Frank Lampard, Bale, or Ronaldo. It’s John Lundstram. Relatively unlikely to score in 90 mins, never mind 30.

A goal every 660 or so mins prior to the weekend. Or a goal every 22 or so games if he plays 30 mins. IF he plays 30 mins (played 12 and 22 the other two, consecutive games he’s been benched).

                    Almost certain.

OK, goal or assist every 330 mins. Every 11 games at 30 mins/game.

Still 10% chance of a CS in all but the most horrific fixtures.

You can tell yourself all you like it was a calculated gamble or the right decision. In reality it was just a long term -EV gamble.

I think starting him over Soyuncu, for example, is a horror show of a decision.

Out of curiosity, I'm wondering if you think my alternatives were half-decent. I have Cantwell, Rico, and Dendonker. Would it have been the right decision to start one of them over Lundstram?

In your case, probably not. I think I'd have done the same and just hoped that Lundstram would start or get some points as a sub (which he did).

I started Brandon Williams instead of him which is easy to look at as a silly decision right now, but my logic was that Utd are posting some good defensive stats, Chelsea aren't brilliant and there's a chance that Williams plays as a LWB in a 3-5-2 and offers some attacking threat, or he doesn't play at all so I get Lundstram's points off the bench.

By reward, I'm not bragging about the decision. I just mean it woukd be nice to have the decision - which I did deliberate over - have some benefit in my MLs, rather than everybody getting them off the bench for KDB & effectively all cancelling each other out.

It was a calculated risk. Straight choice between him and Lascelles, and decided the chance of a Lundstram goal off the bench was higher than the chance of a Lascelles cleanie. A few in my MLs have him 1st on the bench, I don't think it's out of order to hope he stays benched for those teams.

I get that, and it's paid off well for you! Also, I have Lundstram 1st sub and Lascelles 2nd sub so I (in theory) made a similar decision to you!

I only meant that I think anyone who had a half-decent Lundstram alternative made the right call in benching Lundstram this GW - it was just your 'reward' comment which I didn't agree with!

Based on Wilder's comments, and how he played the last times he was substituted made it easier to start him. After all he is a 4.0m attacking midfielder categorized as a defender.

if you interpreted that he would start from those comments, take a course in rethoric and maybe political speeches as a sub category. Sorry but those words from wilder could point in whatever possible destination because you have to put them in context (they bought a new record signing and he is at the end of his contract).

I'll go out on an optimistic limb again and say surely the way City's next three games fall has to be positive news for Aguero owners/captainers/triple captainers. The most logical game to bench him for would be the Leicester game as it falls between the West Ham game, where he'll be fresh off the back of 2 weeks' rest, and the all important Champions League game, giving him a slight rest in between.

West Ham have been known to play the spoilers role before and City have been vulnerable of late. I wouldn't be shocked if West Ham pulled off a draw or something silly like that.

I feel it will be the opposite way round. He’ll want Kun fresh for CL so will probably start Jesus vs Leicester.

Salah benching this week, time off with the new baby.

It's a pretty decent first XI with a view to the coming weeks. I'd probably focus on boring stuff like replacing Ryan (don't see many CS for Brighton in the near future) or strengthening your bench with a view to the blanks. Kelly is deadweight now.

Storm Dennis hits this weekend... it will cause a freak performance and Norwich will end Pools unbeaten run and beat them. Salah blank.

Kun starts vs West Ham and claims 4 goals and an assist.

Writing this down obviously makes it more likely to happen.
