New date for Man City v West Ham – which remains in Gameweek 26

Manchester City’s postponed match against West Ham has been rearranged for Wednesday, February 19.

The game will kick off at 7:30 pm GMT.

Crucially, it means that the fixture will still take place within the confines of Gameweek 26.

Originally, Manchester City and West Ham were due to meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, February 9.

However, adverse weather conditions, caused by Storm Ciara, forced officials to call the fixture off.

Since Sunday, the Fantasy community has been rife with theories over when the match would take place.

Initially, it looked unlikely to be scheduled for a later date in the Winter Break with suggestions that it could lead to either a Double Gameweek 29 or even a Double Gameweek 38.

Either way, it appeared as if those Fantasy managers invested in Manchester City and West Ham players would end up with no Gameweek 26 points from these options.

That was an especially painful development for those who had captained Sergio Aguero (£12.1m) and vice-captained Kevin De Bruyne (£10.8m) – and vice versa – as they would not have got any points out of their armband.

However, these, previously unfortunate, Fantasy managers have been handed a reprieve with this latest news.

The rearranged date falls within Gameweek 26, ensuring that Manchester City players selected to start against West Ham will score points for this round.

While that is, of course, an encouraging development, this rearrangement does place a Premier League match just a few days before Manchester City’s trip to Leicester on Saturday February 22, which takes place in Gameweek 27.

Furthermore, the Champions League second-round first-leg trip to Real Madrid is just four days after that match, meaning three important outings for Pep Guardiola’s men in seven days which could, of course, lead to some rotation.

Perhaps the only other managers not cheering this news will be those with Gameweek 26 points on their bench at this current point.

John Lundstram (£5.0m) was a popular substitute last weekend as he scored the winning goal for Sheffield United against Bournemouth, but his seven-point haul may well be consigned to the bench by the re-appearance of Manchester City players.

If let’s say Aguero does grab a brace vs West Ham, is it wise to sell him or hold him for gw28 and work around it?

Am I right in thinking that Derby under Lampard got off to a flier then dipped only to finish with a surge? If so was there any logic to that pattern? Could it repeat?

I’m looking at the golden Chelsea fixtures, players coming back (RLC and not just Pulisic!) and the winter break as excuses to punt on Chelsea soonish especially if I FH31

Yep. Derby really fell away at the end but they did under previous managers too in recent seasons. I think that Chelsea have over performed to date in relation to the ability of the squad. I'm not sure whether they are a decent punt tbh but good luck if you do .

Like Amey I’m looking at Mount. He’d fit in as a 7/8th attacker possibly rotating. Nearly fluked his points last week on a gut feeling but made a sensible move for Fleck instead.

probably wont do it this week but Rico to who? A player less than 5.0.
Current defence is Boly, Lunds, TAA, Lascelles and Rico ofc.

Not overly keen on another blade, already got Henderson. Im think Aurier, he will be a good shout IMO

If 31 matters why not hold? Assume he gets a one pointer then a chancy cs would mean you’re only 1 up.?

You’ve got 3 quite playable defenders anyway and Lund as back up. Or are you 4 at the back?

Taylor looks natural if you’re set on selling,

A triple GW or DGW38 is still on the cards (possibly involving Manchester City), if Arsenal progress to the later stages of the Europe League and FA Cup. They would have three fixtures to rearrange (mci, sou, LEI) and only two free midweeks before the end of the season (GW34 and GW37) to play them in. That's now worse than Manchester City's fixture congestion, they are likely to have three games to rearrange (ARS, che, NEW) but enough midweeks to play them in (GW29, GW34, GW37).

always a tricky subject, I guess we need to win something to attract the likes of Origis quality as back-up. Altho I think Spurs do fine without Kane in all honestly, but yea we need someone. Maybe Parrot will come good

Where exactly did he say that?

Clearly you've never watched PSG play with him, otherwise you wouldn't write this. The stick this player gets is beyond me, you can hate the guy, but denying his talent is ridiculous. Mbappé is a phenomenal player, but Neymar is currently many steps ahead of him, there isn't even the start of a discussion there and anyone following Ligue 1 will confirm it. Actually, in his current form, only Messi can be compared to him, he's flying on the pitch right now and is PSG's offensive system by himself.

For me Aguero starts against WH he wouldnt have played a minute of football in 3 weeks, needs match time for the Madrid game. It wouldn't make sense to rest him against WH and start against Leicester when he will probably start against Madrid and the LC final. That would mean 3 games in a week for Aguero, Pep will NOT do that.

yes and how do get him in prime for Madrid? Match-rythm
so while league is not as important as cl it is important to gain matchfitness, and after two and a half weeks that is needed.

Makes it more likely he starts WH game as game will be less intense, more opportunity to take shots etc. So he will be able to build up fitness

Looking at possibilities of Ederson anyway in 29 or 30 if I FH31.

No particular evidence for it on form so far but City defence is at least a plausible punt once Laporte is back in. 33 safer I suppose.

Still think he will start vs West ham though, because he will need rythm and that he gets by playing and i´m not Pep but i think Jesus plays in League Cup final. 75, 62 and 90 minutes in that consecutive order (West ham, Leicester, Real). Jesus plays vs Villa and Sheffield W Jesus will also play alongside Kun in West ham game. I was looking forward to get Traore and Lascelles in from bench, and VVd as vc, with a goal from each cb-) Now i regret playing Basham over traore-) what it giveth it takes says the proverbial

On a wildcard, who would be your three Liverpool spots?

Seriously weighing up Firmino, gives a better balance to the structure to get to vardy/Kun/Auba easier if needed.

Or is double defence still the best option? I’m finding it easier to fill these spots with lots of good cheap options available.

    1. benbro

Do you need to triple up on Liv without Mané?

I get the fact they are an awesome team but clean sheets are still a tad unpredictable and Firmino is unconvincing - he must be given Origi’s prominence.

I’m tempted to go with just two or wait for clarity on Mané.

Surely best is S, M, Aa but is anyone else actually worth having?

I’m leaning on not a mo and mane Liverpool mid double up. Want to fit son salah and Kevin in there.

Alongside jimmy and Ings, who would be the third striker slot in your wildcard?

Firmino is absolutely vital to how they play and a huge contributor to their success, I don't think he's always the best FPL pick but that's a different matter.

As someone on Mo Mane I’m finding those cs all too predictable. Double defence is clearly the percentage option here.

Mo Mane will only really pay imo if you get captaincy right. The stats over the last 50 games show they don’t haul together and fairly rarely score together. Individually they are great options but together they only really outrank defence if you captain the one that hauls.

Massive rotation for sure, the question is, which game will be affected the most? WHU or LEI? Not clear at all. LEI is the closest to the CL match, but its an away game and lets not forget Leicester can actually take that 2nd place spot... I personally think both matches will be impacted.

Weirdest GW I've ever experienced. Storm Ciara. Postponement. Bench points. Game reinstated. 8 days stretches to 12 days. Salah has a baby. Storm Dennis. Big Pep Roulette. None of us can do anything about anything. There's so many factors out of our control since GW26 deadline. All we can do is wish and hope. The cards will fall where the cards fall... good luck all!
