Ward-Prowse back from injury as Redmond misses out for Saints

The key Fantasy Premier League assets are in place for the Gameweek 26 clash between Southampton and Burnley.

Danny Ings (£7.0m) is the most popular player for the lunch-time kick-off, starting the match with ownership of 29.9%.

Behind him in second place is Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope (£4.7m), who has recently made a swift return to the Fantasy good-books.

Ings has three goals in his last three outings while Pope has averaged 9.3 points per game since Gameweek 23 – so it will be interesting to see which of them comes out on top this afternoon.

There was encouragement for Ings owners with the creative option James Ward-Prowse (£5.8m) back in the side following an injury, while Kyle Walker-Peters‘ (£4.4m) debut at right-back means a return to midfield for the former.

However, Southampton will be without Nathan Redmond (£6.2m) who misses the game through injury.

Meanwhile, Burnley have received boosts of their own in defence as Charlie Taylor (£4.2m) is cleared to play left-back respectively, while Matt Lowton (£4.2m) misses out on the other side.

              There's a greater degree of uncertainty in predicting future point scores when picking (relative) value players. Picking the best absolute point scorers like Mane accounts for some of that variance because they are generally easier to identify.

              In an ideal world, where it was as easy to identify the best relative point per million targets as the best absolute hitters, and where captaincy points were not an inclusion, the tune would be different.

              And even in a world where such an assumption were true, one could still argue Robertson, not just the aforementioned players (bar Salah and Mane for relative value), could offer better value than Gomez.

                Gomez has an e(points) of 15.91 over the next 5 games (0.6 r/v). Robertson 25.18 (TAA 26.98, 0.72 relative value; VVD 22; 0.7 r/v)

                The ten point difference in estimation accounts for Robertson getting two assists more than Gomez in this period and a higher likelihood for baps, a modest evaluation if you ask me about their attacking threat.

                Source: FPL Review's massive data planner. Even with some bias seeping into the model, it's a far better 'objective' algorithm than our own judgement, where all host of biases hinder a neutral assessment, even when aware of them (overcorrecting, for instance).

    So I'm just narrowly priced out of getting both Traore and Vardy. I was thinking of getting Maddison and Jimenez instead to cover both teams. Alternatively, I could get Vardy and another mid (5.7 to spend) but then I'd be missing out on Wolves.

    My strategy has always been to target teams as a whole before picking a specific player; usually it works, but I'm not too sure it will this time.

      I'm noticing a trend in the teams that like to attack a lot being pretty bad at home. Saints, Norwich, West Ham to an extent, and even Chelsea. Especially when teams hit them on the break - they leave so much space behind.
