What impact will Rose’s arrival at Newcastle have on FPL?

The arrival of Danny Rose (£5.3m) at Newcastle United has added a new dimension to the options at St. James’ Park.

The former Spurs left-back joins Steve Bruce’s squad with plenty of Premier League and European experience, which bodes well for the Magpies.

However, it is unclear at this point whether or not Rose will have any impact on the Fantasy Premier League scene.

That’s what we hope to achieve by assessing what he achieved at Spurs in the first half of the campaign and taking an early look at Rose’s initial contributions to Newcastle.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the 2019/20 season either as a full or half-season package, or monthly members, can access it in full.

Would you do Kelly to Boly or Saiss for a -4?

If no, then play Lundstram with Robbo and TAA and hope he starts. Kelly(injured)and Soy(against City) on the bench.

Meanwhile, in Dortmund, Haaland has scored two for Dortmund, the second of which was a screamer.

But don't worry, Man Utd fans. I'm sure Ighalo will prove to be a great signing.

    1. HamezMace

Signing a player not connected to Railo can only be a good thing, regardless of how good Haaland is.

Would you have turned down Messi in his peak if he was connected to Raiola?

Probably not, but Messi is the greatest footballer of all time.

Haaland right now is an exceptional young talent, but there are many exceptional young players around.

In hindsight has Pogba/Raiola been good for Utd?
When Utd signed Pogba he was regarded as the best player in his position in the world.

Man Utd are desperate now though. A player like Haaland would have easily made them title contenders next season if he had kept that scoring record up.

            1. HamezMace
              • 9 Years
              4 years, 1 month ago

In what way are they ‘desperate’? Genuine question.

If any player could guarantee that goal scoring record over the course of a whole season he’d have had more interest than Utd, and Dortmund.

Utd are much further away from being title contenders than signing the latest wonder kid.

They are desperate because they are so far away from Liverpool and City right now they have more chance of being relegated next season than winning the title.

Why do people think United chose not to sign Haaland? They wanted him, it's Raiola who put a stop to it. He's publicly said he wouldn't send any of his clients to United right now.

      1. BigBillyBass

Because we like to wind up Man Utd fans and we like to see them bite

My understanding is that it was a combination of the two.

In the deal with Dortmund are huge sell on clauses for Raiola, up to 50% of his next transfer fee. That’s why Dortmund got him so cheap in the first place.

Utd didn’t want to be treated as a stepping stone club.

But yes, Raiola has publicly criticised Utd, as part of his tactics to get Pogba moved on this summer.

Haaland is breaking records in Bundesliga already truly amazing.

The last young striker who burst up on the scene in similiar fassion was Mbappe, dont think any team in Europe is out of his reach and we are witnessing a new star being born.

Haaland did the best thing possible for his career.
He is very young and Bundesliga is much better for a young player to develop his skills.
English teams are known to put a tombstone to promising kids' careers. The schedule is heavy and the pressure from the fans is insane.
Specially Utd, that lack creativity in midfield to feed attackers, wouldn't suit him at all.

Let him develop for a couple of a years and eventually we are going to see him in PL. Even though i would prefer to live in Spain than in England.

      Nah I don't think so.

Wolves seem to have moved to a 3-4-3 system, which benefits Traore (as a RW) more than Doherty.

Doherty better in their 3-5-2 system.

Utd can only get better - defence now keeping CSs (+1), Bruno playing passes forward and decent set piece delivery, if Ighalo comes in, won't be Tony who loses his spot.

For me I'd wait and see on getting a Spurs replacement until you see how Mourinho sets up without Kane and Son so wouldn't go C for a hit. Leicester have City up next so not sure I'd want Maddison for a hit so A seems reliant on Jimenez getting a couple of goals against Norwich to pay off. Don't trust Utd at the moment (or all season really!) but might consider Bruno ahead of Martial if he keeps getting the assists but again probably not for a hit.
Son -> Traore might pay off and won't cost anything??

Agree about Spurs situtation just wanted to see some opinions. Also in B I can do Bruno&Ings but not Bruno&Jimenez. 0.1 short unfortunatelly. But I was going to get rid of Maupay anyways so looking for best combo. Cheers

Current midfield is: Salah - Bruyne - Son* - Mahrez - Grealish
    Already have 3 liverpool players.
Who would be best Son replacement? Considering Traore...

    The irony given this thread but I'm tempted to Bench Boost GW27 because my players all look like relatively tasty fixtures;

    McCarthy
    TAA, Robbo, Stephens
    Mane (c), KDB, Barnes, Traore
    Auba, Jimi, Ings

    Button, Lund, Williams, Hayden

    B 1.8M | FT 1

Button upgrade as he's the only non-starter or another alternative?
Only person with a "tricky" fixture would be Barnes v City.

I had two free transfers but I decided that Vardy > Jimi was fine and GW28 I'll still have 11 players (providing Lund/Williams start) but if I want to reinforce I can do Auba > Vardy (tasty Norwich fixture)

I'm really stumped what to do this week. 2 FT, 0 ITB. I feel like I should at least do something so as to not lose a free transfer, but nothing is jumping out at me. Thoughts chaps?

    Henderson (McCarthy)
    TAA Robbo Stevens
    Salah KDB Martial Traore
    Auba Jimenez Ings

    Bench: Stephens Lascelles Cantwell

I know he scored but I just don't rate Martial, could you lose him?
