What impact will Rose’s arrival at Newcastle have on FPL?

The arrival of Danny Rose (£5.3m) at Newcastle United has added a new dimension to the options at St. James’ Park.

The former Spurs left-back joins Steve Bruce’s squad with plenty of Premier League and European experience, which bodes well for the Magpies.

However, it is unclear at this point whether or not Rose will have any impact on the Fantasy Premier League scene.

That’s what we hope to achieve by assessing what he achieved at Spurs in the first half of the campaign and taking an early look at Rose’s initial contributions to Newcastle.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the 2019/20 season either as a full or half-season package, or monthly members, can access it in full.

    Do we reckon Holgate was just rested? He had played 16 x 90 minutes till last time out. But that 4 min cameo was disturbing (as well as killing my Lund bench points!), normally you get 90 or nothing from a CH but his versatility goes against him. Also a decent chance of a game in 31. He is young...

    4 of these are not playing in gw28, but team looks great for the upcoming gw. What to do - burn a transfer or am I missing something?

            Agree, but my point was that if he had appeared in the PL from the Norwegian league like he did for Red Bull at the beginning of the season, he probs would have been priced very low. A bit like Salah on his return started at 8m and then next season was 13.5m 😀

      No, no. Auguero takes the penalty and it's saved but it hits the post, comes back and hits Fabianski again deflecting it straight to De Bruyne who scores. Aguero is so pissed off that he thumps Fabianksi, then the ref and is sent off.

    What to look for when making a transfer? cos this yeah I've just got players in with high total points and good fixtures regardless of form and I'm around 25k every other yeah I used stats and been around 300k plus fora about 5 season.

            I don’t look at stats. You don’t need stats to see Ings is playing well and scoring goals. While Vardy is out of form right now.

            I don’t need a stats table to tell me about touches in the box etc.

          I keep it simple. Actually watch football, and look at who’s playing well.

          Couldn’t care less about heat maps, shots in the box, touches in the final third etc.

          So many times I hear ‘player X had 3 big chances last week, he’s due a goal’ and I’ll have watched the game and thought ‘player X missed a few good chances, I’ll avoid him until he starts actually scoring’.

      As the season goes on, everyone starts gradually gravitating towards the same (limited) pool of players. Probably around 40 players or even less. Because of that, advancement at that stage in the season is hard unless you do a good job picking captains. So, if I was you, I would be watching a lot of football (highlights are fine cos that covers the action areas, you don't get any points for # of passes) and try to pick at least 2-3 guys that others don't have who are playing well but just coming into form. Aguero a few weeks back is an example (returning from injury), Traore from earlier in the season who seemed to transform his game, Boly just coming back from injury could be a good pick. That's the fun (and enjoyment) of the game as we will all buy and sell players we shouldn't have (with hindsight)

    so I have 6 players starting now, 5 blanks and 2 non starters/injuries. And only 2 transfers.. Would you do FH in this case or make an -8 next GW to field 10 atlest?

    The only person with a "tricky" fixture for GW27 would be Barnes v City. Granted the entire bench may not start, but isn't that the risk we run? *Note* I have no WC left to play.

    I had two free transfers but I decided that Vardy > Jimi was fine and GW28 I'll still have 11 players (providing Lund/Williams start) but if I want to reinforce I can do Auba > Vardy (tasty Norwich fixture)

      I'd be doing Button to McCarthy given how close they are in price, giving you a backup option as well moving forward. Then Grealish to someone like Barnes or other mid you like

      I am the comment above yours and I'm in a similar boat. I'm flirting with Schmeichel because his fixtures look lovely and GW28 would be Norwich away. His only "horrible" fixtures are GW34,37,38 of which I have McCarthy already who has "OK" fixtures those weeks.

      How many do you have playing 28?
      I just did Vardy > Jimi
      I'm going to probably do Auba > Vardy for 28 and then I'll debate doing Vardy > Auba for 29 (rest of my team is pretty set so not worried about anything unless a red card or injury arises)

        I’ve only got Auba out in 28 so was toying with some similar Hokey Cokey moves. Possibly even just:

        27: Vardy -> Jiménez
        28: Jiménez -> Vardy

        Feels like a bit of a waste though...
