Scoutcast Episode 323 – Reacting to the Double and Blank Gameweeks

This week is pivotal for Fantasy managers as they look to navigate their way through a tricky set of fixtures as the season nears its conclusion.

The midweek announcement of a Double Gameweek 29 for Manchester City and Arsenal is among the key developments that our Scoutcast trio of Joe, Pranil (Lateriser12) and Az discuss in this busy episode of the Scoutcast.

They are also keeping a close eye on how Blank Gameweek 31 is shaping up, with this latest episode broadcast on Tuesday during Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup .

The deployment of chips will clearly be crucial in the Gameweeks ahead, so our trio look to cover as many permutations as they can.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other topics to consider, including the ‘form versus fixtures’ debate that Southampton and Everton’s strikers are creating.

Teams and players who are highly motivated also come under scrutiny, with relegation and European places still up for grabs. In contrast, those already dreaming of their holidays are also debated in their chat.

The ‘Rough with the Smooth’ round-up of your Gameweek 28 scores focuses on how Leicester’s wavering form has been a hindrance for some and a blessing to others.

Az takes his turn to pick a differential, with a former favourite firmly in his sights.

Clean sheets get an airing and the Scoutcast crew round up proceedings with a look at their transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 29.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future live episodes.

So let me get this right, if Leicester win today they will also have a blank in GW31 and same goes to the winner of spurs v Norwich? As well as the team they were scheduled to play in GW31?

Might save me FH for later on then(maybe gw34) given that my main ML rival has used his already so neither of us will have too many playing in bgw31

    Only KDB from City&Arsenal's DGW.

GTG or going for some Arsenal asset?

    1 ft 0.0 itb

    Ryan
    TAA, Soy, Stephens
    Salah, Mane, KDB, Barnes
    Ings, Jimenez, Vardy

    a) Save transfer
    b) Ryan ---> Pope
    c) going for Arsenal's player.

      Wait on Leicester

If they win I suppose you FH31. If they lose then you have a team. I’d personally use the FT on a 31 player. Don’t see an extra Arsenal player this week is worth it - bar Auba.

  6. Rainer

DGW Fever is in overdrive but Auba has been given just 1 extra game - the champions away...

    Is it worth the chaos?

Just going with KDB myself. If we get the pool lineup linked and Manè is missing I’d be tempted by Pépé but I don’t plan on using FH in gw31 so I’d only want him back

Brighton won't be that easy, followed by a blank, then NOR, wol. Long term prospect not looking good.

The GW30 fixture also helps tbh. I'll probably be going without (unless I get some early news that Firmino isn't starting at the weekend). Trying not to deviate too much from my strategy and get involved in all the hype.

Likewise, not using FH in 31 has got a lot trickier now with the DGW.

I saw a couple of members yesterday asking where liverpool early team news was available, and noticed they didn't get any replies. As this is a sharing forum, would anyone like to tell me (an fpl player for 13 seasons and a member here for half a dozen) where I can catch this early team news. I have only once seen early team news when Anfield Express was active.
Any help please? It would be appreciated, especially this gw.

It’s a fair point. But I reckon W Ham at home is enough justification to bring him in & it’s not crazy to think he can notch against city’s inconsistent baackline.

the WC is your friend - just about the only time you can get the maximum number of DGW players and 11 players in the blank GW31 without taking any hits ... probably an extra 8 players over the two game weeks compared to the masses, most of whom will be the the thick end of a -12 over the two games 😉

      1. I Member
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 25 days ago

Everytime I suggest this strategy it gets shot down. Is it just because people are scared to play their WC? It makes so much sense to me. You're almost guaranteed to gain a bunch of points just by avoiding hits this week and in 31, never mind the fact that you'll have more/better players in those weeks.

        1. Rainer
          • 7 Years
          4 years, 25 days ago

I think HFT is right and it looks a very good strategy once you plan it out well - I just want more info regarding the future DGWs, wouldn't be shooting down a WC29.

when i first saw it mentioned in here I though what a silly idea, but when I ran the numbers and a few goes at picking a squad it really does work quite well.

I only have Ederson and Guendouzi 🙁 for the DGW and just Salah, Firmino, Gomez, Sarr and Pope for the blank at the moment

I can get 9 extra players (exclude Guendouzi) over the two game weeks if I use my WC - it really is a no brainer for me, even more so if Spurs and Leicester go through (4 players blanking for me)

Yes, theyve stayed oddly relevant for not releasing any new music in many decades. Theyre likely your parents favorite band! They've sold millions upon millions of albums...super popular, esp in Europe, Australia and N. America

I’d say they are as famous as The Beatles, or Elvis Presley. Don’t need to be into music, or around in the 50s/60s to know who they are/were.

Would you play your WC now, if it allows you to get 11 players out for GW31?

If I won't play, then probably just 7 out for free. Maybe hit or two to get 8-9 out.

Its okay, but dont have any Ars player and only KdB from City.
Have only 3x Pool and Jimenez. 3 free transfers before gw31, so plan is to get 7 players out.

    Ryan
Taa Robbo Aurier -- Boly Rico
Salah Martial Kdb Perez -- Stephens
    Vardy Jimmy Ings

Depends also on gw31 strategy and today's result imo.

    How's this wildcard looking?

Got 1.3 ITB. Plan would be to leave it GW30, and then GW31 transfer Sterling (11.7) and Saka (4.6) to Richarlison ( & Bruno

    Pope
    TAA, Robertson, Doherty
    Salah, KDB, Sterling, Saka
    DCL, Jota, Nketiah

    Krul, Saiss, Cantwell, C. Taylor
