FPL managers turn to Pope and Burnley defence as Spurs visit Turf Moor

The Fantasy Premier League community will have a keen eye on Nick Pope (£4.8m) in Saturday’s team-time match.

The Burnley goalkeeper, preparing to face Spurs this afternoon, is the most popular Fantasy asset at Turf Moor, sitting in 18.1% of teams.

His owners will be hoping for either a clutch of saves, a clean sheet, or both as he faces a Spurs team with a point to prove.

Jose Mourinho’s men were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Norwich midweek and their most recent Premier League outing resulted in a home defeat at the hands of Wolves.

For that reason, the Fantasy interest in Spurs assets remains relatively low. In fact, their most popular fit asset, owned by just 5.8%, Serge Aurier (£5.0m) finds himself on the bench this afternoon.

Joining him among the substitutes is Lucas Moura (£7.1m) while Dele Alli (£8.3m) and Steven Bergwijn (£7.5m) both feature in the starting XI this afternoon, neither one owned by more than 5%.

Fantasy managers may be monitoring these attacking assets in light of Spurs’ upcoming fixture in Blank Gameweek 31 when they host West Ham.

Burnley XI: Pope; C Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Cork, Westwood, Hendrick; Wood, Rodriguez.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris; Vertonghen, Alderweireld, D Sánchez, Tanganga; Dier, Skipp, Ndombele; Lamela, Bergwijn; Alli.

Neither of them too impressive. Bar Pool, despite recent form, and Sheffield United, decent recent United form, it's not been a PL season of such good team performances. I"m sure I've forgottena few there...

        Never fancied Auba.

Owned him for 4 easy games earlier in the season and he only scored once.

Think he's Hazard-esque in FPL terms. You literally have to hold him for months/the season to get his returns. Targeting 'good' fixtures doesn't really work with a team like Arsenal.

Terrific player and goalscorer, don't get me wrong.

But Arsenal as a team are unreliable. And I think you have to factor that into captaincy decisions.

Completely agree regarding Auba. The only big advantage Hazard had was his classification as a mid so you were generally happy to hold through the blanks.

Came down to Salah vs Mane. And Mane is still such a differential compared to Salah = higher upside.

Really tempted to get Lundstram back in these 2 Frees:

    Ings to Jota

    Vardy | Jota | Greenwood

KDB captain to come...need to him to start against Arsenal or not feature at all. Playing against United too would be a big plus.

I avoided Aubemeyang because it would have meant losing Mane but lucked out with him not scoring.

Obviously we can make sensible decisions and my decision was sensible but so much is luck, especially when it comes to the captain. I'd rather the game not feature captains at all.

I’d definitely be interested if he was an 11.0 mid - he’d probably have 15-20 extra points season to date after baps deductions

        But even then...

At that price you want a reliable captain - and that’s the one thing Auba categorically is NOT when you look at that string of plum home fixture fails

Assuming Wood doesnt get crocked this game, im getting Wood after the game. Form for me, Wood can score vs City. Wont be at all surprised to see another Ings blank vs Norwich

I'm selling, he's out of form and Norwich have tightened up at the back. Will bring in either Wood or deeney. Leaning towards deeney
