FPL confirm deadlines for Gameweeks 31-35 will remain unchanged

Following on from Thursday’s announcement that no Premier League football will take place before April 30, Fantasy Premier League have issued an update of their own.

As was the case last weekend, the FPL deadlines for Gameweeks 31 to 35 will remain as they are currently scheduled, despite no matches being held in any of them.

If football gets the green light to proceed from the beginning of May, and that remains a big ‘if’, then FPL will recommence from Gameweek 36 onwards.

Where we go from there is another question, given that some teams – such as Sheffield United, below – now have up to seven fixtures to accommodate on top of their Gameweek 36-38 matches.

Will there be three bumper Gameweeks (including a massive Gameweek 38) at the end of the campaign, assuming that we can proceed from early May? Or will be there be additional Gameweeks (39, 40 etc) introduced in order to absorb some of the fixtures?

Only FPL know the answer to those questions and it is possible that they themselves have yet to make a decision, such is the day-to-day uncertainty regarding the coronavirus outbreak.

It may be that the hiatus drags on longer than anticipated and beyond even Gameweek 38, so further disruption could follow.

The fact that the Premier League no longer has to finish by June 1, added to the postponement of Euro 2020, does at least mean that there is plenty of elbow room in the summer to accommodate the backlog of games.

TRANSFERS, CHIPS AND HEAD TO HEADS

Fantasy managers will continue to be allocated one free transfer per Gameweek despite the lack of matches, with a maximum of two rolled over.

All players and thus Fantasy teams will earn zero points in Gameweeks 31-35. If a points hit is taken, an FPL manager’s Gameweek score will reflect this.

Most head-to-head league matches will be 0-0 draws but, if either/both managers involved have taken a points hit, the Gameweek scores will again factor this in (eg -4, -8 etc).

In the FPL Cup, ties will be decided by a virtual coin toss if the Gameweek scores are level, which they will be in most cases.

Any transfers made, or Wildcards or Free Hits played in a Gameweek where all the fixtures are postponed, will not be reinstated.

FPL managers can at least cancel a Triple Captain or Bench Boost chip up until the point of a Gameweek deadline.

DEADLINES

The deadlines for the upcoming Blank Gameweeks are as follows:

GW31 – Fri 20 Mar 19:00 GMT
GW32 – Sat 4 Apr 11:30 BST
GW33 – Fri 10 Apr 19:00 BST
GW34 – Sat 18 Apr 11:30 BST
GW35 – Sat 25 Apr 11:30 BST

What does the American football term ‘beating the spread’ mean?
      Might be a betting term.

Spread offence is a formation where only the QB lines up in the backfield.

Ah okay, so the term ‘beat the spread’ is like saying ‘beating the offside trap’ in football/soccer....for example?

Beating the spread originates in the domain of what's called point spread betting; essentially, the spread is the margin of victory by which the favored team needs to be victorious to win the bet - i.e. covering the spread.

Actually you could WC in the empty GW35 to get the best team you can, then play the other 3 chips in the active GWs. Probably BB in the last one assuming that's the biggest.

Home office and isolated apart from going to the local store a few times a week.

Its very boring. Ive coped with it so far by downloading The Witcher 3 which is enjoyable but there are limits to how many hours I can spend in one day playing PS4 before getting a massive headache.

Biggest problem so far is working out less combined with the inevitable eating more crap as Im home the majority of the day. I can see my self gaining some weight if this becomes very drawn out.

This season is basically null and void what ever happens.

Whatever final rank you get will always have a big asterisk next to it as 19/20 wasn't a proper FPL season.

You got 5k? So what? The season wasn't complete.

Going from how the PL have handled gameweeks 30-35, it feels like they'll just let the current normal dates run and then close the site off as normal when we get to the currently registered date for gameweek 38.

I seriously don't get questions about who to transfer in. There's absolutely no reliable info to suggest what is the "right move" o.o

Transfer in whoever you want, it'll make very little difference by the time/if we actually get back to a normal game week.

How can anyone plan under these circumstances?
Most of us have 2 FT and need to make a decision by tomorrow.
If games restart in 36 then will there be only 3 gameweeks for all the fixtures? or will they add more gameweeks? May as well burn the transfers if only 3 weeks as can do FH36, WC37, BB38, but if more weeks added then those who use the transfers will benefit.

"If football gets the green light to proceed from the beginning of May then FPL will recommence from Gameweek 36 onwards"

My question is are we sure that when "football gets the green light to proceed" fixtures to be played in real football will be the ones from GW36 or maybe the ones from GW30?
Thats important as we will use our FTs from now till May looking at fixtures from GW36 so what if officials decide to play fixtures from GW when we stopped?

I think the same but money can do everything so Im doing my moves just in case.

People will do moves looking at fix from GW36 and maybe we should look at fixtures from GW30.
Basically all transfers we will do from now till May are just random moves.

So in that case, why not just transfer in the players that you think will score the best for the last 8 games?

I'm just bringing in the players that I have been missing that I think will outperform my players.

Ex: Bruno Fernandez is now in, Pepe out.

Mahrez will likely be out because Man City will be competing for FA Cup and Champions League if play resumes, and Sane back.

Might be a good time to consider Son or Harry Kane as a speculation. Of course don't take any hits, but use the free transfers to make your overall team better.

I've gone Pepe to Fernandez and Gomez to Taylor so far.

I have Mahrez, Zaha, Greenwood, Lascalles, and Harvey Barnes to consider transferring out. Will likely try to keep some money ITB so I can get a big hitter if needed.

They're won't be a shred of match fitness, or form, so fixtures won't really be a big deal

Yes, thats my point. People are not aware that even if football returnis in GW36 we can have different fixtures in that GW.

I know it sounds a bit irrelevant but are same rules apply for the fpl draft game? Because there when you check a players remaining fixtures they only give gw36 37 and 38 only (not the ones that got postponed). Im wondering if it's a mistake or they will finish draft by the deadline of gw38 no matter what.

If I remember correctly from previous DGWs, draft version has never added postponed fixtures in until they have been confirmed. So they will be added in later coinciding with the regular version.

They might choose to add additional game weeks. That would make sense if/when the rearranged dates for fixtures are announced. Could be an extra 5 or 6 game weeks, if the season continues until the end of June.
Planning isn't really possible I agree. I'm just going to stock up on players with good value and fixtures over the remaining 7 or 8 matches. eg Man United, man City, spurs.

However it works out, it is still a test of your managment. Can you make use of the transfers (effectively a free wildcard) and then make use of another wildcard. There is no guarantee that they won't add game weeks beyond 38. People suggesting it is hard, it can't be that hard. The game will reward those that come back to the site to make transfers. Actually that's probably why they did it, to keep advertising revenue up.

Stock up on Arsenal, Blades, Man City as all have a game in hand to claim.
Agree all probably futile. But still... got to prepare for best possible outcome still.

Might as well - Pereira (out) for Kiko last week, now swapping Stephens (out) for Fernandez and next week I will probably move on McCarty

Going for nailed set piece takers who are relatively immune to rotation: Kane, Salah, KdB, Bruno, Jimenez

Dear FFS tomorrow is the deadline day, any chance to kindly update the ticker and start on GW 35 or so? And put the leftovers game-weeks at the end or something around those lines?

What's the point of that we have no idea what order the remaining fixtures will be play in. We could just as easily restart the season in early May (in the unlikely events it happens) with the fixtures from GW30 as GW36.

Hi, can I ask y'all please, the only active live tactical part of the game operating is that we have 5 weeks worth of transfers to do. I have 2 FT's , so need to use as many free ones (ideally) to get my optimum squad out for 36 onwards?

    Thanks

Yes, your score won't change but your overall rank will.

you still think there will be people out there taking hits this GW ? Last week was understandable because fixtures were still scheduled to take place up to the day before the GW deadline, but why would you take hits this GW when there are no fixtures for over a month and plenty of FT's to use between now and then.

Your overall rank may change if some players on your score make transfers (without hits) and others don't.
But if the transfers you make improve your squad, then you should reap the benefit when games resume.

No transfer = passing people who make 1 and have 1 extra total transfers.

Thanks folks. So, still better to transfer (obvs without hits) and clear out dead-wood or just improve team (you hope), than do nothing?

Here is a copy of the email i just sent to fpl towers.

    Subject:
    Where's my mug?

    Message:
    Dear FPL:

Seen as ye have not contacted me yet (probably as ye were busy trying to work out what happens next) it is about time i made contact with ye in regards to my top of the weekly leaderboard prize after i finally managed to achieve something after 13 seasons.Very proud moment for me getting that GW OR1 after all this time.

You may as well keep the copy of Fifa Soccer as i am a PES head and am not a fan of junk mail.Ye might as well keep the ball too as i already a pair of them.

I am looking forward to sipping tea out of that mug though as i ponder even more future fpl achievements and that stress ball might come in handy while i am waiting for the football to start up again.

Thanks in advance,i love the game and the work ye do.

    Always yours,
    Ógie

      "25. In the event:
      a) more than one Player is at the top of the monthly, weekly and/or final leader board; or
      b) there is a tie for the runner up prizes resulting in more than nine (9) runner ups for the Monthly Prize or more than nineteen (19) runner ups for the Weekly Prize, the relevant prizes shall be awarded to those teams which were first to register on the Site. The Premier League's decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into."

Getting hit with lots of things we can't see of late so a mega gw38 could be on the cards if the season is actually played out.

It will make a mockery of the game really. Those without chips will be totally screwed and even those of us with all our chips will feel like we have just been mugged as the value of the wildcard and FH chips are devalued by the 'mini wildcarders' that have a free ticket to sort out their teams over all these blank gameweeks.

I don't think we will have to worry about it though as i feel there will be no more games played this season.
