FPL confirm deadlines for Gameweeks 31-35 will remain unchanged

Following on from Thursday’s announcement that no Premier League football will take place before April 30, Fantasy Premier League have issued an update of their own.

As was the case last weekend, the FPL deadlines for Gameweeks 31 to 35 will remain as they are currently scheduled, despite no matches being held in any of them.

If football gets the green light to proceed from the beginning of May, and that remains a big ‘if’, then FPL will recommence from Gameweek 36 onwards.

Where we go from there is another question, given that some teams – such as Sheffield United, below – now have up to seven fixtures to accommodate on top of their Gameweek 36-38 matches.

Will there be three bumper Gameweeks (including a massive Gameweek 38) at the end of the campaign, assuming that we can proceed from early May? Or will be there be additional Gameweeks (39, 40 etc) introduced in order to absorb some of the fixtures?

Only FPL know the answer to those questions and it is possible that they themselves have yet to make a decision, such is the day-to-day uncertainty regarding the coronavirus outbreak.

It may be that the hiatus drags on longer than anticipated and beyond even Gameweek 38, so further disruption could follow.

The fact that the Premier League no longer has to finish by June 1, added to the postponement of Euro 2020, does at least mean that there is plenty of elbow room in the summer to accommodate the backlog of games.

TRANSFERS, CHIPS AND HEAD TO HEADS

Fantasy managers will continue to be allocated one free transfer per Gameweek despite the lack of matches, with a maximum of two rolled over.

All players and thus Fantasy teams will earn zero points in Gameweeks 31-35. If a points hit is taken, an FPL manager’s Gameweek score will reflect this.

Most head-to-head league matches will be 0-0 draws but, if either/both managers involved have taken a points hit, the Gameweek scores will again factor this in (eg -4, -8 etc).

In the FPL Cup, ties will be decided by a virtual coin toss if the Gameweek scores are level, which they will be in most cases.

Any transfers made, or Wildcards or Free Hits played in a Gameweek where all the fixtures are postponed, will not be reinstated.

FPL managers can at least cancel a Triple Captain or Bench Boost chip up until the point of a Gameweek deadline.

DEADLINES

The deadlines for the upcoming Blank Gameweeks are as follows:

GW31 – Fri 20 Mar 19:00 GMT
GW32 – Sat 4 Apr 11:30 BST
GW33 – Fri 10 Apr 19:00 BST
GW34 – Sat 18 Apr 11:30 BST
GW35 – Sat 25 Apr 11:30 BST

        Same.

Already moved Pepe and Gomez out for Bruno Fernandez and Taylor.

Will plan on moving out Mahrez, Zaha, Greenwood, maybe Harvey Barnes going forward.

Because, it takes 5 minutes and why not?

No, but I can see the logic in bringing in players like Rashford who will probably be fit to play when the season recommences. Get them before their prices rise, I guess.
I'm a bit miffed that I'd saved up 2FTs - could've used them for free and had 2 added. Oh well.

Also basically everyone will have players with 2 and 3 fixtures in remaining GWs, that makes to certain extent meaningless FT and WC

Assuming we restart in GW31, will travel back to the UK for foreign players be affected for training and match day? In other words, should we be looking at buying players that live permanently in the UK? Vardy, Kane, Alli, DCL, and the like.

Obviously we can’t answer this now but just wondering what others thought processes are for buying players at this time, ie) fixtures, set pieces, etc

The season has to finish before June 24th because that's when the European finals start. There's also meant to be some international games in June, but I think those will have to be moved if the season is to complete on time.

In terms of the physical demands and to give the players more recovery time for a packed schedule (there might only be a 5-week window to get this done right), what about 30 min halves, instead of 45?

I appreciate logistics is another issue, but breaking it down and focusing on the physical side.

So IF we get back underway at GW36, the fixtures will be as per the original schedule for GW36? ARS v LIV etc etc.
And not starting up from where we left off, pushing all fixtures back?

Seems like a good idea to me and having them on TV reduces the appeal of fans attending. Obviously depends on the players willingness to play, but they could enforce that all players and support staff are tested before each game.

I know football is irrelevant in times like this but I think it would also give a lot of relief and entertainment to increasingly bored people.

May be all doom and gloom at this point but with the FA having no date prioritised to finish the League season, this give you time to sort out your team each blank GW with FT's and FPL will be buzzing as soon as football kicks of again.

My advice start getting rid of players you do not want and ready up your team for the onslaught.

You do not require a WC at this stage ladies and gents.

Bench boost is the mofo of all chips at this point πŸ˜‰

  30. SHOOTER MCGINN

Surely they will create gameweeks 39-45 one they've figured out how. The free transfers for all levels out the playing field and those with a WC would still have the upper hand.

Not sure WC has the upper hand at this point.

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 14 Years
      4 years, 9 days ago

I'd say it depends what the realigned fixture list looks like

It would be a bigger money spinner for FPL by adding extra gameweeks - they would get 8 or 9 times more clicks, more online advertising revenue, more hits to the website by creating extra gameweeks rather than lumping 60 or 70 games into GW38

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 14 Years
        4 years, 9 days ago

Then again, if all of their advertising revenue & contracts were geared around 38 gameweeks, maybe they need to keep it at that - or maybe that can resell screen space for any GWs added post GW38

Maybe their sponsors are already onto them demanding refunds or payment holidays as they've gone from 7 or 8 million hits per day down to 7 or 8 thousand

        Who knows
