FPL confirm deadlines for Gameweeks 31-35 will remain unchanged

Following on from Thursday’s announcement that no Premier League football will take place before April 30, Fantasy Premier League have issued an update of their own.

As was the case last weekend, the FPL deadlines for Gameweeks 31 to 35 will remain as they are currently scheduled, despite no matches being held in any of them.

If football gets the green light to proceed from the beginning of May, and that remains a big ‘if’, then FPL will recommence from Gameweek 36 onwards.

Where we go from there is another question, given that some teams – such as Sheffield United, below – now have up to seven fixtures to accommodate on top of their Gameweek 36-38 matches.

Will there be three bumper Gameweeks (including a massive Gameweek 38) at the end of the campaign, assuming that we can proceed from early May? Or will be there be additional Gameweeks (39, 40 etc) introduced in order to absorb some of the fixtures?

Only FPL know the answer to those questions and it is possible that they themselves have yet to make a decision, such is the day-to-day uncertainty regarding the coronavirus outbreak.

It may be that the hiatus drags on longer than anticipated and beyond even Gameweek 38, so further disruption could follow.

The fact that the Premier League no longer has to finish by June 1, added to the postponement of Euro 2020, does at least mean that there is plenty of elbow room in the summer to accommodate the backlog of games.

TRANSFERS, CHIPS AND HEAD TO HEADS

Fantasy managers will continue to be allocated one free transfer per Gameweek despite the lack of matches, with a maximum of two rolled over.

All players and thus Fantasy teams will earn zero points in Gameweeks 31-35. If a points hit is taken, an FPL manager’s Gameweek score will reflect this.

Most head-to-head league matches will be 0-0 draws but, if either/both managers involved have taken a points hit, the Gameweek scores will again factor this in (eg -4, -8 etc).

In the FPL Cup, ties will be decided by a virtual coin toss if the Gameweek scores are level, which they will be in most cases.

Any transfers made, or Wildcards or Free Hits played in a Gameweek where all the fixtures are postponed, will not be reinstated.

FPL managers can at least cancel a Triple Captain or Bench Boost chip up until the point of a Gameweek deadline.

DEADLINES

The deadlines for the upcoming Blank Gameweeks are as follows:

GW31 – Fri 20 Mar 19:00 GMT
GW32 – Sat 4 Apr 11:30 BST
GW33 – Fri 10 Apr 19:00 BST
GW34 – Sat 18 Apr 11:30 BST
GW35 – Sat 25 Apr 11:30 BST

So IF the schedule stays as it is and there will only be GW36,37,38 with matches and I still have FH, WC and BB the logical thing would be FH36, WC37, BB38. That means the transfers I have between now and football restarting are pointless.

Will probably just remove players who are closest to price drop then. Maybe some hope of GW39, 40 etc. being added so other way would be to tprepare for 36 in case there is no need to use a chip then.

      Yes and no (re pointless).

If it resumes in 36, anyone else in your league who has used their second wildcard will be publicly showing their hand week-by-week. To me, the sensible thing to do would be to match their transfers (if needing to block due to leading a league) or go for something completely different (if chasing). Then come 36, as you say, play the FH.

Cheers, that is an interesting take I hadn't thought of, although I don't quite follow. Why match transfers if I can play free hit anyway to match someones team?

As it turns out the main league I am bothered about I have a 20 point lead, but 1 point separates 2nd-4th and only one has used Wildcard, so probably not much I can do to "match transfers" as I have to protect from 3 players.

Thanks for this perspective though, I'll definitely be looking for ways I can mirror the chasing teams!

I suppose in the unlikely event there is a GW39, GW40 etc you would still have your FH.

Though, main focal point being if everything gets put into a mega GW38, you've still either matched (or altered your team) and can play your bench boost without needing to wildcard (seeing as you can't use two chips).

Once things get back to normal (and they will, whatever you may think now), we'll need something to bring the masses back together.
Something to make you forget about your real troubles for a while. Something that touches your soul and appeals to your baser instincts.
    A release, if you will.

And what ticks all those boxes? The beautiful game of football, of course..

That's why I think they'll extend the season with a few weeks.

Strange to see Man Utd linked with Coutinho - surely with Bruno there they are covered well in terms of creativity

A team with Bruno, Coutinho, Rashford and a striker would be a bit lopsided

Centre back, Central Mid, & Central striker would look a bit more logical as big money transfer targets

Skriniar, Partey, Werner or something of that ilk

With Pogba going the opposite direction to balance the books

Yes if your team needs improving.

See my post below, I'm planning to use 5 FT's over the next 5GWs in preparation for the restart of the season (if it happens). I'm expecting to see a very small ranking loss as a result of using the FT's however, as I would have used an additional FT's compared to others on the same score.

Too much in defense, no backup keeper. I'd definitely have two keepers with which you can bench boost.

Defenders I'd have at least 2 guys at 4.3m or lower. And probably a 4.0m as well to fund it.

Mason Holgate is best value defender imo. Strong GW 36-38 fixtures. 4.3m. And Everton are fairly strong defensively.

Sorry, if these have been answered already...

    1. If the season continues, are the matches which dates are still to be confirmed played in the order they were initially intended to be played? (For example, Liverpool plays Everton before Palace and Palace before City etc.)

    2. If there will not be a GW39 and all the matches are played in just three gameweeks, then FH in GW36, WC in GW37 and BB in GW38 is an obvious choice for those who have still chips left?

    Thanks!

It was a crap cup for teams that didn't qualify for the bigger cups.

I.e. if it was still around now. From the PL you'd have 4 qualify for the CL. 3 for the EL and then 3 for the IC.

I have my suspicions they are only postponing the league instead of cancelling it outright so suckers like me keep paying their Sky+BT bills.
Lots of people including myself must be looking at that black box in their entertainment centers and thinking is it worth it now?

Sky+BT is costing me €120 a month and was €150 last month after paying for the Fury vs Wilder fight.
I was only able to work one full day this week along with some smaller nixers on other days.

The only thing i really pay for Sky is the sports and it is handy tbf to record news and current affairs that i like to keep up with.
Seen as my work situation is looking bleak and cuts will have to be made that Sky+BT package is one of the things that will have to go.

Am i being lead down the garden path by the PL and Sky or am i just being paranoid?

It’s definitely not worth it if were not receiving what we’ve paid for.

Unfortunately the contracts we agree to are usually 12-18 months so guess we are stuck until they run out.

Don’t really know the solution to it all, can’t see them giving any money/vouchers whatever back,

Well, I was reading some of the comments above and I dont get why people say WC lost its value. For people still holding ofc.

I think its quite valuable, just in a different way. There´s one factor the vast majority is forgetting. The competition is going to be stopped for so long - and dont forget, not only competitive matches but also training - that when it resumes, its gonna be uncharted territory. Who knows about team form? Individual players?... Are they gonna all be available to play? The context in which matches are to be resumed going to be a factor (eg. closed doors, neutral ground etc). I have a feeling we all gonna be surprised by many teams/players, so current template is total bolocks!

Holding a WC and be able to act swiftly if you just realise your team needs a complete makeover, is gonna be a huge advantage IMO.

I think the thing is, if there's a massive GW38 then any hits to do-over your team are just a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of points potentially on offer.

True, it levels the playing field for sure, but still think a slight advantage for people that will not need to take hits in that scenario

Yes, and we also have no idea when the cup games are going to be scheduled for, so we could still have that BGW31 somewhere.

I have 4 chips left wildcard,FH,BB and TC and only what looks like 3 gameweeks to use them as well as people getting a free ride by using all these blank gameweeks to mini wildcard.

FH and wildcard look seriously devalued in my eyes and those of us that held them will feel like we have been mugged if the season starts up again which i think it wont tbh.

Apart from the obvious Liverpool and Man City assets what players do you think will be highest scoring over the last 9 or 10 games?

      Fernandes,Aubamayang
      Maybe Kane if he’s back.

      All guess work.

Relegation threatened players like Sarr and Grealish - maybe Pukki if he finds form.

Another thing about Grealish - as loyal as he is to Villa, he may be playing for a move away if Villa don't improve and go down.

there are obvious Man City assets ? Surely their priorities are going to be the CL and FA Cup in what would be a very hectic end of the season for them, if it resumes. So I'm expecting even more rotation than normal from Pep in the PL (they have the squad to do it and still easily maintain second), KDB is enough IMO and that's a risk.

Isn’t it quite like having an additional wc being able to do 5 x FT between now and 36 ? Only difference is making one per week instead of 5 in one week.

You also don't really know what situation we are going to encounter at the end of those transfers.

True as you will always get the Andy Carroll’s that prefer a different type of clubbing in their spare time

Whoever dreamed up that idea in fpl headquarters and pushed it must have burned their FH and wildcard already this season.

5 FT is as good as the wildcard or FH and totally lets less prudent managers off the hook.

      Total bs.

You've still got your WC and FHC so it doesn't matter what transfers you make.

It does if extra FPL GW's are added beyond GW38.

Yes I know! Just in case they extend but I do not see that happening. I would use FH WC BB for the three GW (IF it even goes ahead)

Time will well, but I it's worth using the FT's we are getting now to give yourself more flexibility regarding chips if it does happen IMO.

Similar boat as you with 3 chips in 3 weeks (if we even have football by then). I will probably use transfers as I'm not tied on points in my mini leagues and I don't really care about a 0.01% OR rank swing by using FTs. Worth using them in the unlikely scenario that more GWs are added after 38 imo. I will probably do Traore out to someone (Rice?) as he is closest to dropping in price. Price game is probably the most useful (although still almost entirely useless) thing to do rn.

    A) Robbo -> Doherty
    B) Kelly -> Saiss

2FTs - have TAA, my chasing ML rival has Saiss and only Gomez...

By like 3-400 places? The upside is greater than a slight rank drop for me. I also can get a leg up on my ML rival who has used his wildcard
