With just days to go before the Premier League season restarts, our series of team-by-team refresher articles continues with a look at Southampton.

Taking data from Gameweeks 24-29 as a jumping-off point for wider analysis, we will be discussing the players from Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad who most catch the eye.

Fantasy managers may well be swerving the Saints to start off, with some tricky matches to come between Gameweeks 31+ and 35+.

Should the south coast club still have ‘something to play for’ come the fixture swing in Gameweek 36+, however, then they will likely re-enter the radar at that point.

    I have had a look at Aguero, KDB, and Auba's past numbers against their DGW opponents to factor in to my DGW captaincy decision. Thought I would share.

        He has never played for Chelsea vs Villa in the PL. He enjoyed 4 minutes off the bench vs Villa in 2011/2012 whilst playing for Bolton in the PL. No goals or assists during those 4 minutes. That is all.

    Lejeune could be a very good pick @ 4.4 for a SGW player (provided he gets the start which I think he will). Scored again yesterday and is always a great threat

      Bruno took 2 penalties in the friendly when Rashford was on the pitch but apparently missed the 2nd which slightly complicates matters.

      Bruno is a really good penalty taker and has scored 21 out of 23 in his career I think. While rashford has scored 10 out of 12 in his career. So stats suggest Bruno is a better penalty taker, but this does not mean he will automatically take them.

      Additionally, Rashford wins a lot of penalties for United and my guess is that he will atleast take those. Will not suprise me if Bruno takes some, while Rashford takes others.

          If its a 50/50 between the two the guy that wins the penalty will have a stronger claim. He is after all the reason they can even discuss who will take it. Therefore in a team where there is no clear penalty taker I think this might come into play.

        I haven't been following the Bundesliga.

        There's a process in place to isolate the player for 7 days, but given that he will have been training closely with team mates and close to Spurs players yesterday, it'll be interesting to get the results of the next set of tests next week.

    If Rahsford doesn't take pens I'm not sure if he is still such a good option. He's got 14 goals but 5 are from penalties. His xG per 90 minutes is 0.72 but his non penalty xG per 90 is 0.47, which is still quite good but not as great as before...

      Rashford did not hit top scoring form before GW 9. Before this he used 228 minutes per goal scored (2 out of 3 goals were penalties), while after it was 108 minutes. This is a pretty significant difference and I feel this is when he really started to become a goal scoring player.

    Draft league question

    If you had to choose one for the remainder of the season who would it be

    A. Ings
    B. Wilson

    N.b same scoring system as FPL, but there are no autosubs in this draft league, so if one gets rested it's potentially 0 points if they dont get off the bench
