Win a year’s membership by joining our FPL mini-league and raise money for the NHS

We have launched a new Fantasy Premier League classic mini-league to mark the resumption of the 2019/20 season, with scoring starting from Gameweek 30+.

Whether you’re currently ranked first in the world or closer to the seven-million mark, everyone is in with a chance of winning as all entrants start from zero.

Head to the FPL site via this link and use the code ‘i3lxye’ to sign up (full details are towards the bottom of this piece).

There’s not only pride at stake in this mini-league but the carrot of free annual memberships to the managers who finish in the top five places.

Don’t worry if you’re already subscribed for 2020/21 – we’ll refund your payment if your finish qualifies you for this prize.

Our new end-of-season mini-league is called the ‘The FFScout Charity Shield‘ and we’re also using this opportunity to try and raise money for the NHS.

We usually offer Amazon vouchers to those finishing in the podium places of our Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Scout Members leagues, and that remains the case in this stop-start season.

For ‘The FFScout Charity Shield’, we at Fantasy Football Scout are pledging the cash equivalent – £300 – to NHS Charities Together.

The selfless work that our National Health Service key workers carry out on a daily basis has been brought into sharp focus over the last three months.

We’re honoured to be donating money to such a worthwhile cause and we’re inviting you to do the same via our JustGiving page.

We should stress that a donation is not mandatory and anyone can enter ‘The FFScout Charity Shield’ whether they are able to make a financial contribution or not; we fully appreciate that these are tough, unprecedented times and some of you will perhaps not be in a position to do so.

If you are able to spare a bob or two, however, then you can do so by clicking on the below link.

Many thanks to anyone who donates to the fund and good luck for the rest of the season.

Interesting strategy with only 1 DGW player up top. I rather like this team. I assume you a have Ings and TAA because of team value, yes?

You’re right on TAA, Ings atm is just a punt but I’m not certain that position. 🙂 May go for Jota or Nketiah.

Quite like it but obvs punty with both Pepe Mahrez.

Fairly certain Ederson is better value than Laporte.

Fleck could work but I’m eying up Sarr. Think he looks better going forward and SU aren’t exactly prolific.

TAA? I’m tempted to hold too.

Can I ask why you haven't gone with Reina over McCarthy? I know the Villa defence is poor but in the member's area the projections think he'll score 3 points more.

Should I switch this team about?

Suspect this side counts as offbeat!!! Thinking to FH 32 for that game and 33 looks ripe for BB esp if I’m carrying a FT. May yet triple the defence but unsure.

    Ederson
    Stevens Lund Saiss*

Wolves fixture list looks better than Leicester or Chelsea and I rate Jimenez over Abraham. Vardy had a lean spell until the game before lockdown so if he hits form I'll prob get him in, despite tricky fixtures because he could tear it up. I have Jimenez and keeping him for now.

He was out for 3 months with injury. Was ready to return in March, just as lockdown began, so I reckon he'll play both.

Watching Samatta play, he gets in good positions (far more so than Wesley ever did), but the main question is whether Villa get the ball to him enough? Maybe with McGinn taking some pressure off Grealish, they might provide better service.

I did a slow WC so my current squad is set up nicely but still unsure which approach to take, hopefully you can help me decide...

Option 1: UT+BB (WC next week, or FH then WC later)

    Ederson
    TAA Doherty O'Connell Egan
    KDB Grealish Fleck
    Aguero Aubameyang Jimenez

    Leno Saiss McGinn Mount

    Option 2: FH

Doherty Stevens O'Connell (or Lundstram if team leak)
    Sterling KDB Grealish Mount
    Aguero Aubameyang Jimenez

    Bench: Martin Guenzouzi Kilman Simpson

Why is everyone so determined to WC in 31+ and overlook SGW players for 30+?

I truly believe that the longer you can hold the WC considering the circumstances, the better. One week of games does not give you enough information to effectively WC. By waiting 2, ideally 3 GWs and possibly a little longer given the time left, you can be at a great advantage. Lineups, rotation, and form will all be there. On top of that, its so easy to plan ahead and include some class SGW players that are better than most of the DGW players. Villa defenders for example, even Arsenal.

Just my opinion at least, and how I am viewing/thinking about the end of the season.

    1. GreennRed
      • 12 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

Not just your opinion. Plus benchboosting in GW30 when there is uncertainty on lineups, when you can pick fodder, hae 11 or 12 nailed on players, possibly TC. Can setup WC later with playing fodder for the following week's benchboost is an alternative worth considering.

      1. E25
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

The other thing is, most want 3x city, 2-3 x sheffield, 1-2 x villa for 30+, all of which have bad fixtures for the next few

    2. E25
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

It's the obvious "simple" solution, hence why so many are going with it. UT and BB, then WC to get a strong 11/12 for the run in.
I get your point with holding until 33+ or so to WC with more info. I do think this will likely lead to losing out on some price rises too though.

I've used Benchboost already. Get a good 11 and prob 2 playing fodders with 3.9 keeper and 3.9 fifth defender for GW30 and TC Aguero. Prob Aguero, Jimenez, Samatta up front. Try and run with that team and transfers, no hits for 2 or 3 GW, then WC or FH, the order depending on lineups, form and price changes.

nice, seems like a calculated approach, wait and see what players are in form and lineups etc...

what do you think I should do below:

I know I'm in the minority and being super careful/paranoid but I'm wary about a DGW bearing gifts. And if we can't judge form, because there is none, lack of match fitness and possible injuries thrown into the mix, I don't see the wisdom of using BB when we don't know form, lineups are unpredictable and we can pick a good 11 with a few cheap playing subs and fodder with an eye to GWs 30-33. Can then WC for 34-38 and pick playing fodder for a GW35 BB. Sure there are loads of ways to play this even in just 9 GWs. At the end of the day captain picks will be crucial. But I'll also pick Samatta for the double just to feel some sort of rush 😉

    BB to WC

Which defender with up to 6.2? Currently tempted by Alonso.

    Leno - Henderson
    TAA - Lascelles - Stevens - Lund - ???
    Mahrez - KDB - Cantwell - D Luiz- Grealish
    Aub - Jimenez - Aguero

    A. Salah + Saka (dgw) 0.0 itb
    B. Fernandes + Mahrez/Richarlison 0.4 itb

which one is more beneficial until the end of the season?

Repost for comments please, and want to lock in my strategy so I can tweak my team...

I did a slow WC so my current squad is set up nicely but still unsure which approach to take, hopefully you can help me decide...

Option 1: UT+BB (WC next week, or FH then WC later)

    Ederson
    TAA Doherty O'Connell Egan
    KDB Grealish Fleck
    Aguero Aubameyang Jimenez

    Leno Saiss McGinn Mount

Option 2: FH (save BB for maybe 31+ and WC for whenever)

    Henderson
Doherty Stevens O'Connell (or Lundstram if team leak)
    Sterling KDB Grealish Mount
    Aguero Aubameyang Jimenez

    Bench: Martin Guendouzi Kilman Simpson

    ????

    Thanks all!

I think FH would be better.

Allows you to take advantage of DGW without compromise.

If you still have FH and WC then it's like as if you have 3 WCs.

But if you FH now it looks to me you will waste one WC of the three.

So if I were you, UT now (regardless you BB'ing or not), and save the FH and WC later.

yep i appreciate what you're saying... but then if we throw in the added complexity of team value it makes it a difficult decision

if I UT then i lose about 2.5m TV, which means I can build as good a WC team in future

        decisions!

Anyone with no WC and only BB & FH left what's your strategies or lineups like? Thanks all

BB this week. FH in 33

      Leno Ederson
      Besham Egan TAA Oconnel Doherty
      Barnes Fernandes KDB Grealish Mount
      Auba Aguero Nketiah

(Oconnel and Mount may instead be Soyuncu and Fleck)

Aguero and Mount to Jimenez and Son next week (-4)
Oconnel to Wan Bissaka in 32
      FH 33
Auba and Grealish to Rashford and Richarlison in 34 (-4)

That's the plan but there's other options to chop things around over time. I will need a couple of -4s but the guy im chasing in mining league still has a WC and I don't. I have TC and he hasn't.
