Farke benches Duda and selects two strikers in new Norwich formation

Daniel Farke has followed in the footsteps of Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta by making a surprise Double Gameweek 30+ team selection.

Amid some Fantasy interest, January loan signing Ondrej Duda (£4.7m) has been named on the bench, despite proving to be one of Norwich’s best players pre-lockdown.

Farke has also changed the shape of his Canaries’ side following the long lay-off.

For most of the season, they had been operating in a 4-2-3-1 system with Teemu Pukki (£6.5m) playing as the lone striker.

For the Double Gameweek 30+ meeting with Southampton, the Finnish international is paired with Josip Drmic (£5.3m) as Farke moves to a 4-1-3-2 shape.

Todd Cantwell (£4.7m) and Emi Buendía (£6.0m) are expected to provide the width either side of Kenny McLean (£4.8m).

Meanwhile, Southampton will be lining up in their traditional 4-4-2 system, Danny Ings (£7.1m) paired with Michael Obafemi (£4.9m) due to Shane Long‘s (£4.7m) injury.

Nathan Redmond (£6.2m) and Stuart Armstrong (£5.2m) provide the width in midfield either side of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (£4.8m) and James Ward-Prowse (£5.7m).

Owners of Cantwell may be particularly encouraged by the fact that Yan Valery (£4.6m) has been named at right-back, as the player has not had a strong season thus far.

Norwich City XI (4-1-3-2): Krul; Lewis, Klose, Godfrey, Aarons; Trybull; Cantwell, McLean, Buendía; Drmic, Pukki.

Southampton XI (4-4-2): McCarthy; Bertrand, Bednarek, J Stephens, Valery; Redmond, Højbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong; Ings, Obafemi.

Would you BB this team next GW and roll FT?

    Henderson McCarthy
    TAA VVD Boly C.Taylor Lascelles
Salah (c) KDB Richalison Sarr Hayden
    Auba Ings Jiminez

Was going to do Rich to Fernandes but think I'd like 2FT for GW32.

    Which player probably scores more?

    A) Son (WHU, shu)
    B) KdB (che, LIV) + 4 pts

    Won't captain Son.
    No value invested in KdB.

What is Monday's obsession with Duda? First picked him in the differential article, now making a big deal out of him being benched. The guy costs 4.7 and has one assist in 600 minutes.

I was just looking over his stats to understand why. I guess he only has 1 assist but likely had potential in underlying stats to have a decent return given his price.

Statistically Duda was the better pick. Even seemed better and more secure than Cantwell. There's plenty of merit in him being mentioned. He may still end up being the best midfielder under £5m for the remainder of the season.

I think the Differentials are picked by AVFC82 (https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2020/06/17/fit-again-laporte-among-the-differentials-for-fpl-double-gameweek-30-and-beyond/), rather than David Munday, but I take the point that Duda has enjoyed an elevated level of attention for his actual achievements.

Duda a great differential and Aguero must be the captain pick for this week!

I’m done with this website now, after 9 years of membership I can honestly say this forum and guides have been far more of a hinderance than a help.

I had KdB captain and Cantwell in my team before I started reading the hype on here and the not-so-wise advice you get in the videos/articles.

I realise it’s all my own choices at the end of the day but 80% of the time my original ideas are far better than the advice found on this website but I’m a sucker for believing otherwise

The usefulness of this website is for the data. If you like using data and performing data analysis, then it is worth it. Reading only the articles is pointless as at the end of the day it is just one person's reading of the data.

You’re right in that the best thing you can do is make your own decisions. No matter what, you feel better in the end for it. What you’re basically saying here though is you done better when you didn’t have access to lots of stats and data. That may be true but I can’t help but feel it’s better to have the data than not.

I have a few suggestion I go DCL over Jota on FH

    Patricio

    TAA Doherty Maguire

    Mane Son Bruno Barnes

    Kane Vardy Jota

    Martin Lascelles JRobinson Guendouzi

    A. Leave it
    B. Jota to DCL and Doherty to Boly
    C. Jota to DCL and JRobinson to 3.9 defender means I keep Doherty but is the bench too weak?

  15. Does Sane speculation make Sterling more nailed?

So Pepe said in his press conference today that Sane will be going to Bayern this summer or next. Do we think he plays many minutes for the season run-in now? It's a tough one with him being out injured for so long, another setback could scupper a deal. Does this mean Sterling is more nailed on? He played 90 minutes against Arsenal - I've got him in my Free Hit squad so hope he does!

    1. Brosstan
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

I dont think Sane will play much. If City were actually chasing the title it would have been different but now theres no reason for Pep to play him.

      1. HollyShand
        • 4 Years

Yes, but in focusing on the cup competitions with his main core of players, perhaps Sane gets a runout in the League.

What does Pepe know about Sané?

If he's leaving I doubt they'll play him much. Hardly want to repeat last years antics and miss out on a fee due to injury.

    3. Netley Lucas
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

He won't be starting, maybe just covering injuries and come on to give em a rest. Bernardo can play both wings as can Sterling, Mahrez probably the number 1 RW with Raz LW. Jesus can play LW too so they don't need Sane strating at all atm.

      1. HollyShand
        • 4 Years

Let's hope more minutes for Sterling, would be a great way to double up on City in the next few weeks

    4. Deulofail
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

HT title should be 'Does Sané speculation support Sterling?' to reflect the post and encourage discussion imo.

Fwiw I think it does, but only a little bit. Ultimately, he's contracted to play for City and they will likely use him as they see fit. It's not like they need the extra minutes to develop Sterling for the future. Rather, they need the spare men to help out where they can. It only perhaps reduces the chance of playing Sane for the sake of developing him, which is probably only a small factor, since they want to win games first and foremost, and keep everyone fit as a second priority.

    Pope
    TAA, Doherty, Saiss, Lascelles
    Bruno, Son, KDB, Salah
    Jimenez, Tammy
