Scoutcast Episode 334 – FPL Gameweek 31+ Wildcard Options

Whether you have an abundance of Fantasy Premier League chips or none remaining, this latest episode of the Scoutcast has got you covered.

Joe is joined by Lateriser and Andy to look ahead to Gameweek 31+ and beyond, with a close eye on chip strategy.

Lateriser is among the many FPL managers to take advantage of unlimited transfers in Gameweek 30+ and use their Bench Boost chip. With his Wildcard now in play, he reveals the players in his thinking and how best to navigate the weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, Joe only has a Bench Boost to fall back on. Our trio looks at the best Gameweeks to consider using not only this chip, but other remaining chips too.

Andy has used all his chips but after tinkering during lockdown with his team, he feels he is in good shape to match his chip-happy rivals.

Among the issues they discuss are what to do with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m), who blanked in his last two run-outs but has two good fixtures ahead and enticing underlying stats too.

Sticking with the Gunners, there are replacement goalkeepers to mull over, after Bernd Leno (£5.0m) suffered a nasty knock against Brighton at the weekend.

The best Liverpool assets, whether Manchester City can be swerved temporarily and the unlikely appeal of Newcastle United are also in the mix.

In this packed 75-minute show, the Scoutcasters also find time to look at the best clean sheet prospects. Lateriser takes his turn to pick a differential and there are Gameweek 31+ squads to reveal.

Who will they captain and which players can help propel them up the rankings?

    Need help with my WC:

    DDG, (Martin)
    VvD, Doherty, Fernandez, (Taylor, Holgate)
    Salah, KDB, Bruno, Bergwijn (Traore)
    Rahford, Jiminez, Ings

    0.1 ITB

I'm thinking of ditching Traore but need to free up some cash?

I think if you play 3-4-3 it's hard to resist Saka at 4.7.

I would rather downgrade Traore If youre playing with 4 mid. Then use the cash to get a extra Wolves def

I agree. That’s the team I had last night but now decided the Son downgrade to Bergwijn and the Nketiah upgrade to DCL in a 3-4-3 has a much better balance.

I had an idea yesterday but willing to discuss it a bit more. What are your thoughts of going big at the back with attacking defenders on a FH this GW? With only ~103m team value, those players are much more accessible to me. They also have plenty of routes to points compared to 6m-ish midfielders - CS likely if a good fixture, possible attacking returns, bonus point potential too. For example I'd rather have Chilwell over Barnes.

So originally I wasn’t convinced Bergwijn was an able replacement for Son (so I could afford the Nketiah to DCL upgrade) but he’s now played 6 games for Spurs and amassed 33 points. A decent sample of games and very reasonable return. Plus at that price point he can easily become Pulisic/Sarr or someone else if he falls flat. Thoughts?

    1. BNMC
      • 4 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, he gives Spurs another edge going forward, but I have my doubts over whether he will start every game. Definitely worth it at his price though.

Spurs fan here. Bergwijn is a gun and he looks great every time he plays. Only issue is Lucas is back this week and the worry is that they share minutes. But Bergwijn is in much better form and a much better player atm so would be silly to bench him. Just be wary though

I would consider It if the following is true:
DLC or Nketiah is supposed to be a starter in your team, not on your bench.
There is no other route into getting Son.

I think Bergwijn could be a good shout but I have very hard imagening him outscoring Son. Could be a great compromise and a good differential for you if you can pull it of, but Son might punish you for it

The obvious downgrade would be Son, so you can afford the Nketiah to DCL upgrade. It’s the one I’m pondering and think I’ll be going with Bergwijn and DCL.

I’d do any/all of them because Leno and Kun are out. To further that:

      1) unless you have a backup keeper, you must do the first one.\
      2) of the three Kun moves, I like the first one the best. If you don’t have Bruno, I’d get him instead of Martial.

    Current WC draft:

    Martinez (Martin)
    TAA, Doherty, Maguire (Aurier, Lascelles)
    KDB, Son, Alli, Fernandes (Guendouzi)

Yeah. Never really wild about going template--especially this template--but I just got a lead in my ML so template may not be so bad. I was aiming for Rash or Tammy, but the funds were dictating. May do DCL > Tammy next week.

Could do Son, Nketiah > Mount, Rashford to supplement the fwds.

But that doesn't exactly excite me. Rash's price rise took me out of him and Sarr. Oh, well.
