Pro Pundits - Tom

The Everton and Man City assets I’m considering for the FPL season run-in

One of the world’s best FPL managers, Tom Freeman (aka avfc82), discusses Everton, Manchester City and more in his regular column.

So, as I write this, we’re just two games into Gameweek 32+ and I sit 44,693rd overall in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), having banked 89 points in Gameweek 31+.

It feels like I’m back on track after a sluggish Free Hit in Gameweek 30+, which saw a 30k rank drop.

However, with a Wildcard and Bench Boost in hand, and this week’s captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) still to play, a ninth top 10k finish remains within reach.

Since the restart, I’ve been watching loads of football and individual players, so I thought I’d use this article to talk about two of my top targets, and why I’m looking to bring them in.

Looking ahead, one of the reasons I moved away from my initial plan to Wildcard in Gameweek 33+ and Bench Boost in Gameweek 34+ is that my team looks in pretty good shape right now. It feels like I’d be making changes for changes’ sake, which can be dangerous.

With one free transfer and £0.3m in the bank, here’s how I’m currently set up…

I’m still undecided on transfers but am considering moves for Foden or possibly Jesus.

I’ll likely make a late call on that one once I’ve watched all of this week’s games, along with captaincy.

Thanks for reading… until next time.

Tom Freeman – aka avfc82 – comes onto the team to make most of us feel wildly insecure about our overall rank history. A long-time Fantasy Football Scout user, he has finished inside the top 1,000 a staggering five times since 2009.

Best Aubameyang replacement ? I am chasing in ML- in second place, 26 points behind leader who has neither. He has Salah and I might get rid to get in Foden and Pulsic over next 2 weeks

    Jesus or Kane

Dropping almost like a stone. Some days ago when I last checked he was -55 and I thought that I don't need to worry. If he doesn't drop tonight, it will happen tomorrow.

So do I, but in that case he will drop tomorrow. It doesn't help the case. I think I'll just get Nketiah now. That .2 swing might hurt my future plans too much.

Non pope owner.. the only solace I can take from tonight, is that ml leader who I am chasing down, played his FH, taking out Pope for foster, as well as bringing in PVA and Sarr.

Looking for his punt on Auba(C) going the same route!

I went without Burnley defence in my WC team (having had Pope or Taylor in almost every draft) and felt quite satisfied when they were stuffed at City and the contract situation seemed to be unsettling them...

Then an ML rival has Ben Mee in his team! and a couple of others have Pope... The game week is still young but this is hard to take!

Thinking of selling Holgate or Lascelles to bring Taylor back in? See how the GW goes but this is how I’m set up for 33:

    2FT, 0.1ITB
    De Gea
    TAA Doherty Justin Lascelles
    Salah KdB Fernandes Son
    Rashford Jimenez

    Martin / Nketiah Holgate Guendouzi

    Cheers

Don't chase points, you don't have Burnley defence okay, but don't burn transfers on 4th defenders to bring one in.

You have a strong team, it's not over yet.

2 FT, thinking of punting on Foden.

    A) Doherty + Guendouzi --> Aurier + Foden
    B) DCL + Guendouzi --> Nketiah + Foden

In B, Nketiah would always be benched. I have Saiss too, if it helps.

I'm of the opinion that top 50k is the new top 10k given the amount of new players + open info from FPL Show, Twitter etc. There's so much more exposure to the game now, where casuals even know what they're doing because they're being spoonfed.

Chips give failing teams a massive chance to leap the rank with an accidental wild punt.

I prefer old school one wildcard a season. I suppose it's harder to keep the general public engaged though.

I don't hate them (despite triple captaining Andy Carroll once and getting negative points on a dgw bench boost), but I feel they could use a refresh for next season.

I think OOP Martial is a better pick than Rashford and other striker like Jimenez, DCL or Ings. Keep Hendo and AWB

    Evening,

For those who have BB in their pockets, when do you plan on playing it and what teams you targeting?

I'm currently looking at GW34 but I might change my mind. I still have my WC

I've just looked at the team news on here and its saying son could be rotated? Dear god please say thats a very remote possibility!?

10 milion and you cant captain. I am out for now, until Salah and KDB start not performing and being heavily rotated. I I prefer them and heavy defense instead of a bulky midfield trio.

Barnes to Foden? Yes or no? Foden will be part of a bench boost when i will think he will get minutes

        Rice is coming too.

Rice and Foden for Guendoozi and Barnes. Bam bam bam 😉

Declan will score. Watch my words.

I have Martinelli (punted on him, injury news only came out after deadline :/ )

Worth a straight switch to Nketiah - or leave on my bench? Will probably stay there as Nketiah doesn't have great fixtures anyway.

depends on if you ahve other things to manage in your team. If you ahve absolutely nothing to do then yeah go for it

Nothing particularly urgent, but would be a waste of a FT. If I save it, I get 2 for next GW.

Would I want to move-on Martinez, etc.

        Martinez
        TAA / Doherty / Saiss
        Salah / KDB / Son / Fernandes / Martial
        Jimenez / DCL

        Button // Lascelles / K. Femenia / Martinelli

Nothing urgent to change. Save ft to give you some flexibility for GW34

Well he won’t play and won’t get you any points.

If you can handle that then leave him sure.

My original plan was to WC33 BB34 but looking at my team maybe I should hold the WC.

Should I use the ft on my bench instead?
Williams to AWB or Traore to Foden? Cheers

    1ft 3.9itb
    Pope
    Saiss TAA Lascelles
    KDB Martial Salah Bruno
    Ings DCL Jimenez
    (Ryan Traore Stephens Williams)

Thanks both were on my WC draft. Which would you prefer current team or WC draft below.

        WC draft:
        Pope Martinez
        TAA Doherty Saiss Aurier AWB
        Salah Martial KDB Mahrez Foden
        Rashford Jimenez Nketiah

Well definitely WC cause its a WC team isnt it. But do you want to use it now or save for one of the last teams? I think if you want to WC just do it as theres not many weeks left anyways. But you can put out a decent team with your current team if you just make 1 or 2 FTs

Well, I guess that's that for Rhian Brewster. I appreciate that he's on loan but no mention of him in relation to next season and use of the next gen to strengthen? Am I misreading this?

Read the Athletic if you have it - Special mention of how Klopp took the time out of his day off to watch Brewsters game for Swansea.
