Scoutcast Episode 336 – How to get ahead

With just six Gameweeks remaining, time is running out for a surge up the rankings or a toppling of mini-league rivals.

But it’s not too late to get ahead, as our Scoutcast trio, of Joe, Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy and FPL Family’s Lee, find out.

In their search for a respectable end to the season, they have got their eye on differentials. They reveal the low-owned players they are keen to bring in as well as the strategic ways Fantasy Premier League managers can steal a march.

Tapping into Manchester United’s plethora of options is certainly a viable tactic and the Red Devils are among teams examined in the search for mini-league glory.

Meanwhile, getting the right third striker could be key to success. However, should we be basing this criterion of forward on price alone?

Joe does not let the episode go by without mentioning his decision to retain and captain Arsenal’s double-digit FPL hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m). Nor does Lee want his fellow hosts to forget that his team, Liverpool, are the newly crowned Premier League champions.

One community member’s rollercoaster of a Gameweek over his captaincy and bench decisions also gets an airing.

Elsewhere, there are clean sheets to consider and our trio reveal their differing plans for attempting a rank climb in Gameweek 33+. Will Joe stick to his dullard plan? Or change his mind for more exciting options at the 11th hour?

Who would you rather have on your Bench Boost in GW34?

    A) C. Taylor (whu)

    B) Femenia (NOR)
About the same as Taylor. Probably a better fixture, though.

    C) Cresswell (BUR)
Old school pick, but has slightly better stats than the 2 above (Baseline BPS and xA, most notably). West Ham on the up, potentially, but have been poorer defensively than the other options this season.

    D) Holgate (SOU)
Seems to have the best underlying stats, including strong baseline bonus, but fixture is probably one of the worst of the choices.

And could Holgate lose his place?

For the one week B, long term D.

I like C, but aware Burnley could have their forwards back by then though I haven't been keeping up on news.

Cheers R. I think JRod and Wood could be back, but not Barnes. I'm tempted by Holgate, even though he's a CB, which is boring. The other options are perhaps just not in good enough teams to have enough attacking upside - or defensive upside I guess. I still see Kiko conceding against Norwich.

An extra 0.2 over Holgate/Taylor could be worth it if he's a better option. Not much I can do with that money, though it's possible it could block a transfer down the line.

On the other hand, West Ham have good fixtures, so I could use him on the bench and even delay BB till GW35 if needed, when he plays Norwich away.

    Saiss or Boly?

Seems Saiss has the higher goal threat over the course of the season, with Boly the better for bonus.

But the reverse is true since the restart, albeit only marginally.

0.1 in it. Looking for that edge, and not sure the money is the package to glory. Might be though, if there's nothing in it at all.

Saiss 5.1% owned. More than Boly? Take the differential.

Cheers Andy. I'm not a fan of ownership logic tbh. Besides, both are differentials, with Boly's ownership not much different.

I'll probably end up going for Saiss. I wasn't worried about him rising as I figured Boly was the better option, but now I've discovered that I may have been wrong about that. I just have to check my biases and bite the bullet.

But ohhhh the shame of losing 0.1 on a WC is just too much to bear! :'(

    A - Alli & DCL to Martial & Ings
    B - Alli & DCL to Mahrez & Ings

    Hendo Leno
    TAA Lascelles Saiss Egan Lund
    Salah KDB Son Martial Saka
    Rashford Jimenez Nketiah

    1ft
    1.5itb

Awful week so far. The last 3 gwks i have been swapping between Utd assets and always seem to miss the hauls.

Would you swap Son to Bruno this week or do Lund to AWB?

Any ideas what to do with this lot? Got 2FT and 2.6ITB. Top 40k and want to keep pushing:

    1) Grealish + Mount + O'Connell --> Mahrez + Pulisic + 4.1 (-4)
    2) Grealish + Mount + Auba --> Pulisic + Son + Nikitiah (-4) (next week bring in Mahrez for Cantwell)
    3) Grealish + Mount + Auba --> Pulisic + Salah + Nikitiah (-4) (next week transfer out Cantwell for St. Maximan/or another mid priced mid)

    Team:
    Patricio / Button
    TAA / Doherty / Maguire / O'Connell / Edan
    Grealish / Fernandes / KDB / Mount / Cantwell
    Aubamayang / Rashford / Jiminez

      2. If Mahrez doesn’t play bring him in for Son, then bring in sonny the week after.

Hi all, what’s your thoughts on my FH team? 0.1m itb
    Ryan, 3.9m
    TAA, Robertson, Azpi, AWB, 4.0m
    Salah, KDB, Pulisic, Martial, 4.2m
    Jesus, Rashford 4.2m
Plan to play a 442 or do you think a 352 with Foden will be better?
