Pulisic and Willian the Fantasy focus as Lampard benches Alonso

All eyes will be on Christian Pulisic (£7.1m) and Willian (£7.1m) as Chelsea host Watford this evening.

The American has been the subject of much transfer activity in the build-up to Gameweek 33+ after scoring at least seven points in each of his three appearances post-lockdown.

That has earned him 180,000+ new owners for this round, as Watford come to Stamford Bridge.

Even more Fantasy managers took an interest in the penalty-taking Willian, whose pair of double-digit hauls in Gameweeks 31+ and 32+ convinced 188,000+ to sign him up for Gameweek 33+.

Outside of the attacking midfielders, investment in Chelsea’s starting XI is rather scant by comparison, with the more fashionable options finding themselves on the bench.

Mason Mount (£6.2m) does still shoulder the responsibility of 16.2% managers worldwide and starts against Watford, but the 15.6% owned Tammy Abraham (£7.5m) is named among the substitutes alongside Marcos Alonso (£6.2m).

Those who witnessed Chelsea’s defeat at West Ham last time out will not be too surprised to see the left-back lose his place as he was largely responsible for the winning goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta (£5.9m) moves over to take his place for Gameweek 33+, allowing Frank Lampard to reintroduce Reece James (£4.9m) into the Blues’ starting line-up.

Hardly anyone stands out for Fantasy purposes in the Watford side.

Ben Foster (£4.9m) remains their most popular asset but is still only owned by 3.7% of managers worldwide.

Second-most-fashionable Craig Cathcart (£4.3m) doesn’t even make the starting XI, benched for the second away match in a row.

Chelsea XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, R James; Mount, Kanté, Barkley; Pulisic, Giroud, Willian.

Watford XI: Foster; Femenía, Dawson, Kabasele, Mariappa; Chalobah, Capoue; Hughes, Doucouré, Sarr; Deeney.

Has anyone ever taken a season off FPL, or considered it? I wouldn’t say FPL affects my mental health, but it sure does effect my mood in a bad week. I was deflated and annoyed after the United game today, shooting down the ranks. Anyone else ever feel like this? I quickly get over it but in the heat of the moment, it sure is frustrating. Considering taking a year out next season, see if i can get the excitement back.

Yeah anxiety is the word i was looking for. Seeing the 3 United boys scoring big when ML rivals all captained was really frustrating. I actually had a good day today, before the football begun. But the United score had a negative impact on my day, signs that i need a break maybe

Do you tend to play for OR? If so maybe try just playing to win mini leagues for a season? It's easier competing against a handful of managers rather than 7,000,000 and if you're playing with mates you can have a bit of banter when you have a crap week instead of obsessing over how you dropped 100k in rank.

      1. DAZZ

I play for cash in ML’s. There is £260 on the line for the winner. I dropped from 30 points to 70 just today, because of Bruno (c) and (tc). But all suggestions are great

        1. Hulk Smash
          • 8 Years

Another thing you could try is to set up
a set and forget FPL league where everyone picks their team at the start of the season and there are no subs or transfers at all. It's almost impossible to stress about it because anything can happen and you can't affect it. You could pick someone who moves to another league before the season starts or someone who gets a 6 month injury. The downside is if that happens you tend to lose interest pretty quickly so you need to set it up with manager of the month and top weekly score prizes etc.

I did last year, not because it affected my mental health, but due to the time excessive I commit for this. I used to spend hours - reading comments here, watching highlights, keeping an eye on price changes, examining ML opposition's teams, thinking about next transfers etc. I can't take it lightly like many of my ML friends can do. After taking a break, this year I am doing the exact things, but I feel refreshed and more excited. I am taking more risk this year, and so far this has been my best season ever!

Totally get it mate, I’ve always been obsessed with FPL and 2 seasons ago was spending record time fretting about it and getting up in the night etc to tinker with my team. I took a year off last season and it was really refreshing- I just watched the matches and actually enjoyed them for the football rather than wanting certain players to bag points. Came back to it this year refreshed and enjoying it again but still have to make an effort not to get sucked in too much. Bottom line is it can really impact your weekend so no harm in having a wee break from it if it’s weighing on your mind, there’s more important things!

Of course. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Went out for something to eat this morning, did a bit of shopping and cleaned the car, my day was great. And my mood sunk worse and worse after every united goal, anxiously checking the scores. I know it doesn’t sound good, and i’m pretty sure it isnt healthy getting angry and frustrated and letting it affect your day over a free online game

The lockdown has been great for FPL. The form of so many players and teams has changed so much and with the unlimited transfers in the first week back it has felt like the start of a new (mini) season. Plus in lockdown it's been easy to find the time to watch most of the games. I've loved it.

Made that move - but it does mean I end up with a crazy subs bench of Jimenez, Alonso and Aurier

    Evening all
    These moves yay or nay?

    Rashford + DCL > Kane + Greenwood.

If I do it will allow me to do Hayden + Son > Mahrez + Foden the week after
