    Which transfer is best?

    a) Son, Mahrez, Rashford ---> Martial, Mane, Vardy

    b) Son, Mahrez, Jimmy --> Mane, Pulisic, Vardy

Option B would be a purely covering tactic as both my ML rivals own Pulisic

    First post 🙂

    Hi lads,
First of all, thanks to all the community for the great advice on here!
Currently leading ML by 70 pts
    1FT, 1.5 MIL ITB
What should I do with this lot ?

    Martinez (Button)
    TAA Maguire Doherty (Ritchie Robinson)
    Mane KDB Fernandes Pulisic Foden
    Jimmy Greenwood (Ings)

    Two serious rivals in ML
One of them has Martial & Sterling
The other one has Salah, Auba, Martial & Vardy

Is it time to play it safe ?

    Cheers

I think that's what he'll do, no club will even pay half of what he earns now, the only way he goes is if Arsenal heavily subsidize his wages, like we're gonna have to do with Sanchez if we want him to leave.

    TAA, Doherty, Saiss
    Salah, KDB, Fernandes, Martial, Saint-Maximin
    Greenwood, Jimenez

    Button, Calvert-Lewin, Lascelles, Holgate

    1FT 0.2 ITB

Any suggestions of what to do here? Feel I need to lose Calvert-Lewin and possibly a Wolves defender to get in Vardy or Ings? Anything worth a -4 or should I hold the FT?

Dumbest take on here lately that I see a lot

"VAR isn't the problem, it does what it's supposed to, it's the people in the box who are the problem"

VAR IS the people in the box ffs..

Yep - the clue is VAR = Video Assistant Referee. It is not a system it's a person.

      1. DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy
        • 10 Years

...so it is just as subjective as the on field ref, who by looking at the monitor himself can simply do away with a VAR on the non-line decisions. The VARs just back up the on field ref all the time anyway.

    3. diesel001
      • 7 Years

I disagree. VAR and goal-line technology has improved decision making in football. You can see that with the number of offside goals that have been ruled out and goals being given that have crossed the line, but don't look like they have.

People focus on the marginal ones or the one obvious howler (Sheff Utd vs Villa 'goal'). That is wrong. Focus on the ones where the player is 5 yards offside and the lino hasn't raised their flag (been a few of those for Man Utd and Man City this season). What about the howler when Roy Carroll spilled the ball into his net vs Spurs and no goal was given? What about the howler when Henry deliberately handballs vs Ireland and the goal stands? What about the howler when Lampard 'scores' a screamer vs Germany and the ball is 2 yards over the line and it isn't given?

The biggest issue is not using the onside pitch monitors. The onside ref has seen things in real time and has the context. Give them the second, third, fourth looks so they can corroborate what they think they saw with what has happened.

I agree with you but you are missing the point. You are refering to clear and obvious, and i dont hink anyone would disagree. However VAR is 100% the problem, all the time its still the opinion of a human to decide yes or no, and life and sport is not that binary. Apart from all of that, it has killed the passion and common sense of the beautiful game. When a referee makes an honest mistake we can understand it, but when 300 referesees in a box with all the technology in the world to help them make the wrong decision ( Three times in one night ) then VAR is of no help or use to anyone. I fully get the ball over the line decision and if VAR was used for GLARING OBVIOUS errors, it has no place. GET RID

        1. diesel001
          • 7 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

Thing is, people couldn't understand it when referees made honest mistakes. In fact, they would get abuse and death threats (especially in CL games etc.). You are looking at it with rose-tinted glasses, harking back as if the pundits never criticised the referee on Match of the Day in the 2000s.

I remember all those marginal offside decisions when Hansen and Lawro were the MotD pundits and they would crucify the ref if they thought it was wrong when watching the highlights. They would go on about how such decisions could relegate a team or cost them the title.

Now we have consistency on offside (yes it is technical, but it is pretty consistent with the use of lines) and people are still complaining.

      2. DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy
        • 10 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

Correct - VAR great for line decisions (though I would prefer daylight gap for offsides) but pointless for subjective decisions. Just needs the on field refs to have the bottle to admit they are wrong sometimes, nobody should blame them with the speed of the game. Let them decide if they want to double check on a monitor.

      3. Brosstan
        • 9 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

I dont disagree with any of this, and it wasnt my point to go into whether VAR has been a success or not. It just annoys me that people seem to think VAR and "the people in the box watching the monitors and making decisions" are two differenti entities.

The way i see it is you set your team up, if there are leaks on Twitter or here from reliable sources and you need to switch a benched player out you use the edge that way.

Don't wait to build the team at 2.55 pm.

Absolutely this mate. I consider FH every week and always weigh it up but it depends on your situation. In my main ML i'm 70 pts clear and the next 3 have all used their FH. Feel GW 38 is going to be a lot more fun having this up my sleeve.
If your rivals still have the FH chip, your teams may look very similar in the final GW so it depends where your team needs to be. I can see the advantage of using it in GW 36 in different circumstances

No, but no different from GW36 then and I actually prefer GW38 fixtures for the FH. Plus it’s just so much more fun playing it in the final week with players going for golden boots and no need for managers to think about next games etc.

Looks like he lacks confidence. better to go for Greenwood and invest the cash into a City/LFC midfielder.

He will take the next pen though and as Man U get min one penalty a game (they just need to throw reckless tackles around the opponent's penalty box and VAR complicitly obliges)...

Vardy motivated for golden boot and Champions League.

Could be the crunch game 38 Leicester v Manchester United.

      Toss a coin.

Pulisic more reliable and could haul.

Willian has edged it recently but Pulisic higher points per game.

If I didn't take Mane last week I would have got 45 points this week, four red arrows but happy enough with this.

    Jime -> Ings next

    Ederson
    Trent / Lascelles / Doh
    Martial / Bruno (c) / KdB / Mahrez / Pulisic
    Rash / Jime

    Buttton / Kiko / DCL / C.Taylor

Go Mane - More upside as your ManU points will be spread around your three assets.

Anyone thinking of free hitting this week?
    Pope playing Liverpool
    TAA potential rotation
    Salah likely rotation
KDB who knows but played last game
Vardy (not owned) plum fixture with tough ones to follow

no, saving for 38, half of those factors don't affect me and I got Vardy in on a hit, with Pugilist.
