Allsvenskan Fantasy

Fantasy Allsvenskan GW7 Pre-Match Preamble

Fantasy Allsvenskan 2020 might have started out four weeks ago, but to me at least, it has yet to really kick-off. With the ongoing pandemic throwing a gigantic spanner in the works, it seems like most teams have lost track of who they used to be and it’s evident that no crowds in the stands is affecting the way some of the bigger clubs are performing.

Hammarby used to be a defensive catastrophe but made up for it by scoring a boatload of goals (2.5 goals a game to be precise), so far, they are averaging just 1 goal a game.

Djurgården used to be fantastic defensively but have already let in 8 goals in 6 games, last season they conceded just 19 all season.

AIK used to be a bit boring in attack, solid defensively, and a tad bit on the old side in their lineups. Now they’re trying to be more attacking, they’re letting in goals most games and they have an incredibly young starting eleven – filled with potential fantasy bargains.

Malmö used to be hyped up ahead of the season, have a way too deep squad (if there is such a thing), rotate like crazy, depend on Anders Christiansen to get things done and still somehow fall short of the mark… Well, I guess some things stay the same.

With gameweeks flying by all the time it’s easy to start feeling a bit fatigued, especially when they’ve been so low scoring in general so far. The highs of a good score and a rank boost feel so much better when you’ve gathered 80+ points instead of eking out 45 when the average was 30. It also seems rotation will continue to be an issue all summer so the players on our benches need to be ready to step up, however, we’ve also seen a lot of 1-point cameos due to five substitutions being allowed this season.

The start of the season has been a weird one for sure and I’m hoping I’m not the only one struggling to get a hold of just what football without fans in the stand means for the fantasy game around it. Sitting just inside the top 10k might be an achievement in FPL, in Allsvenskan however with 28k managers, it’s considerably less so. Still, it’s early doors and once the games stop coming three times a week (roughly in September), chances are we’ll get into more of a regular groove.

What seems evident is that Norrköping have got some really good things going for them this season and if the other clubs don’t pick up the pace soon, they’ll struggle to catch up.

Recently becoming a dad has thought me that you can make all the plans you want but in the end, how that pans out, is not necessarily a reflection of the plan itself, but rather circumstances, luck, and adaptability. Adaptability is the only one of those that seems possible to affect and it’s something I intend to incorporate into my season.

Starting this gameweek I’m trying to let go of old adages like players needing to be nailed on for 90 minutes, by getting in Gustav Ludwigson for Nils Fröling. That temporarily takes my Hammarby double up to a treble up which seems ludicrous given their performances so far, however, Ludwigson has demonstrated he can be relevant this season given Aron Jóhannsson‘s continued fitness struggles. Muamer Tankovic could also very possibly be leaving both Hammarby and my squad in a few weeks, so I’m not too fussed about the overexposure.

As for the captaincy, I’m leaning on Tankovic, though I suspect Sead Haksabanovic will continue to deliver even with Malmö away on the menu. If I’m willing to adapt to changing circumstances, I’m hoping Hammarby are as well.

Finally, the latest set of Scout Picks are now up on the official Fantasy Allsvenskan site for your consideration, which I hope you enjoy.

    Thanks Meltens!

As expected, this season is turning out to be very special and difficult. I used my wildcard after GW3 and have since climbed up the ranks, but still only ranked about 6000.

I feel very unmotivated and annoyed with the game this week, after my long term plan was ruined due to a completely unmotivated price rice on Simon Thern (280 transfers in, 230 transfers out = 0.1 up?). Don't have a clue what to do now, so any help or advice would be welcome!

Initial plan was Castegren to Okumu this week, Vecchia to Thern next week. Options now are:

    A) Castegren to Väisinen this week, Vecchia to Thern next week.

    B) Castegren to Okumu (or other defender) this week, Vecchia to Bergman next week.

    C) Save transfer.

It's basicly about turning from 2 defensive Norrköping player to 2 attacking ones, or keeping 2 defensive. Theire fixtures are excellent so I think there are points to earn from both defence and attack there. Don't really trust Bergman to start every game once Levi is back, but to afford Thern I can't afford Okumu and his guaranteed 2 dbp. Any thought?

I have the same dilemma with Castegren. And I am too unsure what to do. Oddly, I would be hesitating to bring Okumu in this week mainly because Elfsborg played yesterday and Kalmar are rested (and I have Rönning too). Thing is Castegren also got 2 defensive bonus, and plays in a more attacking role.

Yeah, as it looks now I'll probably stick with Castegren and save my transfer. And for next GW, against Örebro at home, it seems pretty pointless to use two transfers to get Castegren out and Thern/Bergman in so I guess I'll stick with the current structure.

If Levi is out a bit longer term (or Bergmann gets a spot somehow anyway) I think he’s a no brainier really. Very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. I have Lauritsen, Thern and Haksa, ideally I’d be able to have another Norrköping spot but not sure on the whole Thern/Lauritsen/Bergmann debate if you can only have two, thoughts? 🙂

After Malmo, Norrköping have a nice run of fixtures with possible clean sheets.

Yeah but what about Thern vs Bergmann then? One is a bonus point magnet, the other incredibly attacking.

Good question. I am leaning toards Bergmann, if he stays in the starting eleven, as I currently do not see the need to downgrade my premium mids and can afford to upgrade Norlin. Castergren also got defensive bonus, so needs to be factored in. An 8 point defender in a defensively solid team is something to be considered too, and a defensive double up could be profitable. A very relevant dilemma, though. Thanks for feedback!

If doing the Norrköping swap in the future, I'm defenitly going for Thern. Plays more advanced than I expected and good for bonus points. Bergman looks like a superb talent but there will always be a rotation threat once Levi is back.

That said, I'll stick with the doubble defence now. The fixtures looks good for defence as well and they are usually solid at the back. A regular 6-8 points from Castegren could be gold. It's a shame you cant have 5-6 Norrköping players this season 😉

But I am undecided which to start out of Bjornstrom, Castegren and Norlin. Currently it is Bjornstrom, more due to fear of owneship.

Thanks, Meltens! Congrats again on the fatherhood.

This season has been weird so far with low average scores due to big teams not playing well, but I'm still having fun. Just inside the top 6k right now. I set myself a nice goal of not taking a hit this season unless I don't have 11 playing players. Let's see how it works out 🙂

For this week, I finally took out Kujovic and got Karlsson. My other transfer was J V Persson to Okumu. I believe Okumu is a great pick. Here is how I line up this week, with possible changes to bench order. As always, suggestions are welcome.

    Hägg Johansson
Witry - Krogh Gerson - Björnström - Okumu
    Kačaniklić (C) - Haksabanovic (VC) - Vecchia
    Karlsson - Abraham - Fröling

Bench: Ring - Ahmedhodzic - Levi.

Still need to take care of Ring and Levi soon, but I might very well use my WC next week, depending on how this week goes.

The only thing good about the low scores so far is that I’m not even that far behind despite having a mare! At 10k but only trailing OR1 by 123 points 😉

I think those are solid moves and as we’ve spoken about I’d potentially start Ring over Fröling, other then that all good. Okumo does look great!

    Evening, all!

I was wondering what to do with Castegren. Keep him, play Bjornstrom or transfer him to someone else - who?

    My team:

    Rönning
    Witry, Lauritsen, Tihi, Bjornstrom
Haksabanovic (c), AC, Kacaniclic, Tankovic (vc), Norin
    Abraham

Bench: Castegren, Froling, Selmani, Norlin (GK)

Looks good, and I'd stick with Castegren, at least until we know more about the potential signing of Wahlqvist. Would perhaps concider Fröling or Selmani ahead of Björnström and/or Norin.

Armband on Haksabanovic can never be wrong, but I'm giving Tankovic a final chance. Regardless of how it goes, it will be back on Haksabanovic for at least 5-6 gameweeks after that.

I agree with Bob here, sound advice. The mysterious Selmani should (??) be back but I’ve heard that one before so take it at face value. A start if you have him still seems worth it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.svt.se/sport/fotboll/varbergs-skyttekung-nara-comeback-jobbigt-att-sta-vid-sidan-om

Thank you, Bob and Meltens. Made a transfer: Fröling out, mostly out of fear of a price drop, poor form and coming fixtures. Followed, your recommendation, Meltens, so feel no pressure;). Not convinced by Ludwigson, but he is the next few games. Need to find a more long term replacement.

Haksabanovic captaincy probably, due to form rather than fixture. Glad I have both Tanko and Haksabanovic.

I think the price is enough of a reason to dip the toes in the metaphorical Ludwigson-waters! The coach prefers him for now as he puts in actual effort unlike many of the others so far. Also Aron Jóhansson seems more or less broken (I hope not but it’s not looking great) and Paulinho prefers playing in the Tankovic role which we’ll see more of if/when Tank leaves.

Looks nice, and wise to pick a side in Malmö-Norrköping, not playing the Malmö defenders against the Norrköping attackers. Not convinced about the triple Djurgården defence away to Göteborg though, but let's hope they're still tired after the cup semi.

Looks like a great squad, like the Bergmann pick! You reckon he gets regular game time when Levi is back?

I’m also on treble Djurgården defence for now, mostly because of the perceived value in Berg, Augustinsson and Bråtveit. Might lose one going forward but otherwise hoping for a return to form there.

Bergmann the biggest talent in the Swedish league. We will cash in big time on him, Juve interested and following his progress at us. In fact he turned down Juve to come to us.
I expect him to get rested sometimes as he is young even with Levi out(though I don’t rate Levi at all). But we have 4 big talents fighting over game time in offensive slots. Bergmann should be the first getting subbed on and thus getting a lot of 25-30 minute games coupled with starts which is fine by me at that price. Abdulrazaq number 2 but he is more for next year. Almqvist and Björk the other 2.
We really need our youngsters to step up if we want to be in with a chance this year

Many Norrköping residents dream that we have a kind of new Gunnar Nordahl in Bergmann

You’re not doing anything to keep me from getting Bergmann in with that kind of talk haha! Thoughts on him as a pick vs bonus magnet Thern and goal scoring Lauritsen? Hakšabanović is going nowhere obviously.

Lauritsen is our main target on corners, Nyman the second, plus he has a decent shot but no way he can keep up his goal or the even more surprising assist rate.
Lauritsen also has 4 or 5 clubs abroad chasing him, we are not the type of club to hold him back either so my guess is that he will leave. That said, in these strange times, I have no idea when this could happen. Russian and Dutch clubs are after him(no idea about their windows or when their league will start, no idea about our windows either tbh).
Thern is interesting, he has always had the talent but something has held him back it seems, may have been his mental health issues. Hopefully he can now keep up at this level when he seems to be in a happy place. I’d still go Bergmann though at that price.
Our CEO has said we have a marquee signing on the way in also, he said it ahead of Dresden being done for relegation so I’m not sure it was about Linus Wahlqvist but this would be my guess.

Hehe, I'm doing the opposit sticking with Frick and looking to bring Bergström in.

I still think Söderlund is a very poor fantasy option. Paying 8.5 for a player not even close to picking up a single bonus point, and with basicly a ceiling of 6p, is not good value IMO. Häcken have been terrible so far, so unless they suddenly pick up some attacking form I can't see many points coming from theire attack.

Wow! That would be unexpected, since he looked destined for a move to Göteborg. If he can get anywhere near his performances from 2018 it's a great signing. I think age is an overated factor in a feeder league like Allsvenskan. Young exciting prospects are usually great to have, but you can't build a long term team around them since they'll always leave within a year or two. In Allsvenskan, it's usually better to build around players who still got a couple of years left but wont be looking for another move, like Anders Svensson, Rosenberg, Seb Larsson, Goitom etc.

Oh yeah I completely agree about the age thing, Daniel Sjölund and Andreas Johansson were that exact type of players you describe and they have been instrumental to our success(and 2015 gold) since we came back up from superettan. it’s just that signing a player of his age is not what we’ve been getting used to these last few years and definitely not in that position.

            Reports were true, now confirmed.

My team this GW. Forgot to bench Ahmedhodzic for Jansson/Yusuf… Tankovic (C).

        Bråtveit
        Ahmedhodzic - Witry - Widgren - Lauritsen
        Tankovic (C) - Kačaniklić - Haksabanovic

Yeah it’s looking really, really bad. No sharpness, too little will, really missing the supporters it seems. I’ll give them one or two GWs more but the sensible thing is probably to start shifting out if there are better alternatives

I've got 2 ft's right now so I'll start looking but it's gonna be tough since it's impossible to match the potential of Kaca and Tankovic

Maybe something like top 500 or even higher. This is my 3rd season and haven't achieved that. The bonus point system makes the scoring and game quite different to others, and takes a while to get used to.

Anyone concidering using any chip for GW8? For my team it looks like a good week for eighter of them:

            Two captains:
            Haksabanovic (Örebro h)
            Lauritsen (Örebro h)

            Attack:
            Selmani (Mjällby h)
            Abraham (Sirius h)
            Holmberg (Falkenberg h)
(would require me to get Holmberg in)

            Park the bus:
            Lauritsen (Örebro h)
            Castegren (Örebro h)
            Ahmedhodzic (Östersund a)
            Tihi (Sirius h)
            Björnström (AIK a)

If I play Park the bus I would try and get rid of Tihi and/or Björnström for Augustinsson (Falkenberg h)

            Any thoughts?

Can't really see a better week for PTB except for GW30. The Attack chip is usually hard to get much out of, and the Two captains chip could just just as well be used on Haksa/Lauritsen in another game, perhaps Varberg or Falkenberg at home.

Interesting shout with the two captain chip! Will consider this as well.

PTB is nice but I’m just worried Augustinsson could get a rest and it also means having to bench one of Thern, Haksa, Kaca, Tank or AC in my case. Would also ship Tihi then as I struggle to see he AIK CS

Good point about Augustinsson. I still think he has a good chance of playing, if not at LB then at CB. Berg is more likely to be in need for a rest, which would mean Augustinsson is in contention for a spot at two different positions. In my case, playing PTB would mean having to bench Abraham which I could live with. I'm more concerned about missing out on captaincy points from Haksabanovic.

Not a bad shout at all. For me PTB is a no go this week with Nielsen 'injured'. Even if back(Or I use ft for suitable replacement) I wouldn't use it this week due to Örebro being considered a tough fixture here in Norrköping historically but that is me being supersticious.

2 Captains could also be used in gw10 with Haksa(Varberg) and Lauritsen(Varberg) or Witry(Östersund). Or this week with Haksa and Witry or AC, Malmö really looked much better long periods of last game. I will own Lauritsen from next gw onwards.

Attack looks a decent option for you. For me it's a no go as trading out Sylisufaj for anyone doesn't fit in with my plans.

                Thanks for the input!

Leaning more and more towards PTB. Looking at the schedule, this seems like the best option except for GW30, which would be risky. It's always risky planning for a chip 20 GW's ahead since you don't know how things will be by then. What I do know now is that:
                - The games are low scoring right now
                - Norrköping still have Lauritsen
                - Örebro, Östersund and Falkenberg ar 3 or the 4 lowest scoring teams so far
                - Sirius have only conceded 1 away goal, and AIK are in awful form

My goal for the season was to win, but I'm now so far behind that even top 500 looks unlikely. So I figure I might as well have a go, with nothing to loose really.

I think many people are waiting for DGW, but looking at the schedule I just can't see it happening this season. Every weekend and midweek is scheduled for the entire season, so no games can be moved as far as I can see. The only possibility is that the early CL/EL games for Djurgården, Malmö and Hammarby(?) are postponed, but then if these teams actually reach the group stage, there wont be any dates available to play the postponed games. Although it seems unlikely that the teams will reach the group stage, I can't see Allsvenskan approving this, by basicly saying "It's okay to move the games, because we don't think there's a chance you'll qualify anyway".

Forgot to mention the main doubt I have about Norrköping and that is that I would want defensive key player Fransson to be fully fit and back to his best.
But you have a point in that waiting as long as gw30 is a gamble.
Could be a way for you to catch up a bit though, I don't Think it's to late

A very interesting thought: there is merit to it. To me, I am hesitating to use the park the bus chip as the IFK Norrköping manager has spoken about the need to use more player in the coming week(s), which sees three games in the next week. To me this is a sign of a possible rotation. I have Castegren, which kind of pushes me to get Ahmedhodzic of Malmo.

Speaking of Malmo, I am wary in what condition they will after the defeat yesterdsay, which must have taken some toll. Also, they have a long trip to Ostersund for the game on Thursday, which might also be exhausistive.

On AIK, the defense is a mess without Per Karlsson and their first choice GK. So shipping/benching Tihi makes sense, at the time being.

On Djurgården, I would be looking to get Augustinson, but fear rotation with Kack, as has been shown before this season. I do not trust that Berg will be fit to play three games in a week.

Results/cs form just aren't predictable enough for me yet to play a chip, esp PTB.
But yeah GW8 or 10 look hypothetically best for now.

Thank you all for the input! You all make good points, and I'm still undecided about whether to play PTB or not. There are so many factors to look out for, and I think it will be impossible to fulfill them all. Ideally, you'd want:
                  - Easy games for Norrköping, Malmö and possibly Djurgården
                  - Weekend games coming after a whole weeks rest
                  - Players beeing in form and guaranteed starters
                  - Players not being injury doubts

Norrköping, Malmö and Djurgården all have great fixtures, and Sirius got great form. Except for maybe Augustinsson, all look like guaranteed starters. However, the games are played midweek, but it's the beginning of run of 5 games in 2 weeks, so hopefully the rotation will wait for another game or two.

Read on twitter that the chances on a clean sheet this GW is:
                    Norrköping 51%
                    Malmö 49%
                    Djurgården 48%
                    Göteborg 40%
                    AIK 38%
                    Sirius 28%

                    Is that good?

Would you sell Tihi or Björnström for Augustinsson? Or both for Augustinsson and someone like Holm?

Looks great for this GW, so you might as well save the other FT. Abraham a doubt for AIK, so look out for theire line-up tomorrow, it's usually published about 10-15 minutes before deadline.

Team looks good long term as well, although bench could be a little stronger. I'd look to swap Yusuf or Jansson depending on your budget, there are some interesting players at that price, like Vecchia, Löfquist, Hussein or Norlin.

Didn't know that – I'll have a look before the deadline!

Yusuf is definitely on my transfer out list; I just haven't been able to do so yet. With 0.6 in the bank, I can get any of the mids you mentioned here. Löfquist has some decent fixtures coming up, so he's particularly tempting to bring in. Jansson is just a bench player for now (though I will upgrade him at some point).

Abraham not in the squad for tonights game. I can also mention that for the last two games that Djurgården have played at 19:00, the line-up have been published on twitter 17:59, so there might be a tiny chance to see the line-up before deadline, if only for half a minute or so.

If it's likely to be a tiny window between the announced line-ups and the deadline, I might wait until then to make any transfers.

Does any of you know for how long Nielsen(Malmö) is supposed to be out?

Was set to use my '2 Captains chip' this week on Haksa and Witry but Bob might have won me over to go for PTB if Nielsen is likely to be out for a few gw's. Can afford to do Nielsen instead of Tihi to Lauritsen. Would mean I'm stuck with Tihi a while though instead of double Malmö defence. Wont foil my Besara in transfer next week either.
Would mean I bench Kaca and Bergmann this week, which I'm ok with.

The one fear is that rotation screws with secondary "2captains chip' plans in gw10.

How would you line up your defence if playing PTB? I took Tihi out last night, but I still think he's a decent option with good fixtures long term.

I think rotation will always be an issue this season, regardless of when you play your chips. I guess you could aim for a gameweek where there's been a whole weeks rest for the teams. But then you need to find a GW where 5 defenders have a good fixture, they will all have to be fit, not sold nor suspended, and of course you'd have to make a plan to make sure you have them all by that GW. This GW at least 4 of my 5 defenders have a great fixture, they are all fit, and I was able to get that defence with just a single substitution. It would surely be convinient for me to play the chip now.

As it feels now, I would prefer to use the "Two captains" chip on Haksabanovic and Lauritsen. GW10 against Varberg looks tempting, but it's the 4th game in 9 days so there might be a rotation/injury risk there. Otherwise might have to wait for GW28 against Falkenberg, and who knows how things will be by then?

                  Witry, Berg, Amhedhodzic, Lauritsen, Tihi

Am I right in that there will be no Captain points if one uses A chip?

That is correct, the regular captaincy will be replaced by doubble points for all defenders. That is of course a downside to it, but I think it will be the same regardless of when you play the PTB. If you for example play it when Norrköping face Falkenberg, you'll miss out on the Haksabanovic (c) that week.

I’m also toying with the idea of a PTB, defence is Lauritsen, Berg, Augustinsson, Björnström and Tihi. Tihi would go then.
Issue is not certain both Djurgården defs start and also not captaining Haksabanovic in that case.

                  Thoughts?

Looks very nice! A slight rotation risk on Berg/Augustinsson of course, but as I've said before, that risk will always be there in a season like this. Would be ideal if you were able to see the line-up around 17:59. I'm hoping for that, and if so I'll push the button seconds before deadline.

A theory I've come up with (in order to support my own decision, of course) is that teams might be happy to just grind out a result now when the schedule becomes so hectic. Norrköping have had an excellent start, scoring twice as many goals as many other teams, but with 4 games in 9 days they might settle with just low scoring wins. I can't see them smashing Örebro, so perhaps a 1-0 or 2-0 win with a chance of rotating some attacking players? In that case, it hopefully wouldn't be a big loss going a week without Haksabanovi(c).

Reckon Krogh Gerson and Lauritsen “safe” from rotation?

Hard to say, but I think at least Lauritsen should be. My impression is that CB aren't rotated as much as wingbacks or attacking players. Gerson could possibly be rotated, there are other options like Telo or Binaku, but he could also be moved to RB in order for Castegren to be rested.

I might be naive but do young players really need as much of a rest as older players? Especially defensive young players. My oldest defender is 24 and none of my defenders have a history of injuries.

Might not be ready to start though, according to Norling. Good news for my potential PTB chip, with a weakened attack and defence against Sirius and Björnström.

Is this season impossible or am I just terrible at Allsvenskan?

It’s really, really tough this season. It will get better once it’s not three games a week I think!

Hope so! I just took a -4 to move Kačaniklić to Ulvestad and Ludwigson to Söderlund so I'm hoping it pays off. Shame to lose Ludwigson after only a week but I'm unconvinced, it also allowed me to get off Brattberg just before his red card so it's saved me some points in the long run.

                  Good luck in GW8

It's a completely bizarre season where everything we know about Allsvenskan and Allsvenskan fantasy is upside down. At this stage, no knowledge at all would have been better than knowing everything.

You just need to take a quick look at the table. Mjällby, Sirius and Varberg in top 7, Göteborg, Hammarby and AIK 10-12. Some rotate a lot, some doesn't rotate at all, 5 substitutions, AIK trying a new strange system, Djurgården swapping keeper and benching Kujovic, Hammarby scoring less than a goal a game, Helsingborg not scoring for 5 games...it's impossible to predict this.

What's interesting to me is that after 7 games, only 4 teams have scored more than 10 goals. We all know there's little value in strikers in this game, but so far there hasn't been much value in midfield eighter. Defenders are usually strong but the clean sheets are so hard to predict so far. It felt like there were no clean sheets at all last GW, but infact there were 5 of them. But who's playing defenders from Östersund, Örebro, Helsingborg against AIK and Sirius against Hammarby away?

What that means is that if you're in the top, say, 7754 players you have probably got lucky and all the good players are 7755 or worse :)?

Being serious, it's a bit like GW1 in FPL. The GW1 dream team always has the likes of someone like Ayew or Moura scoring a brace and some crazy individuals have actually picked them (or captained or TC'd them). I'm hoping a pattern emerges which we will be able to follow. Doesn't normally take 8+ weeks though!

Nah, this season is crazy. Nothing works out well - at least for me - but as the others said, should be better when the schedule won't be this loaded (if it will be).

I genuinely don't think it will get better, at least not for a very long time. Schedule will be tight for another two months, and by the time we go back to a more normal 1 game a week schedule, 2/3 of the season will have been played already. I think a few of the bigger teams suffer a lot from playing at empty stadiums, and that wont change for this season. Hammarby are certainly better than scoring 1 goal in 3 home games against AIK, Varberg and Sirius.
