Wood starts for Burnley as Long owners subjected to team sheet ordeal

Following a week of interest from the Fantasy Premier League community, Chris Wood (£6.1m) keeps his place in the starting line-up as Burnley travel to Norwich.

The New Zealand international is paired up-front with Jay Rodriguez (£5.7m), who has four attacking returns in his last five appearances since the Premier League restart.

The Clarets may be short in defence, with Charlie Taylor (£4.4m) and Ben Mee (£4.9m) still missing, but a return for Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.9m) in midfield means Erik Pieters (£4.2m) can slot in at left-back after several outings on the right wing.

Kevin Long (£4.3m) is the man who continues to deputise for Mee, but his owners were given an arduous few minutes when the team-sheets were announced this afternoon.

Burnley’s official Twitter account posted a line-up which featured an injured Mee at centre-back and Long nowhere to be seen.

However, this was deleted within a few minutes and owners of the budget centre-back were given a reprieve upon discovering that he had, in actual fact, made the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, as interest in Norwich’s squad continues to diminish, Teemu Pukki (£6.4m) is on the bench once again, with Josip Drmic (£5.3m) leading the line supported in attack by Onel Hernández (£5.3m), Todd Cantwell (£4.5m) and Emi Buendía (£6.0m).

Norwich City XI (4-2-3-1): Krul; Lewis, Klose, Godfrey, Aarons; Tettey, McLean; O Hernández, Buendía, Cantwell; Drmic.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; Pieters, K Long, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Westwood, Brownhill, Gudmundsson; Wood, Rodriguez.

Based on recent starts and minutes, the next "main attackers" (sorry Bilva) to be benched are Jesus and Foden, one before the other. Predicting who's benched first between them is a coin toss. Predicting who's benched after both of them is also up in the air

Dilva gets FA Cup and GW38 (farewell game). Benched in GW37 as he's been a regular in FA Cup and this rests him for GW38
KDB and Sterling have no reason to be benched again until UCL
Mahrez should miss only one of the next three games. Maybe GW38, since that lets Foden start a home game
Jesus is due a rest. More likely FA Cup (Sterling false 9). If not, GW37. Starts GW38
Foden should only play two more games (or one) out of the three. GW38 should happen for him. GW37 could be a miss, letting him keep the trend of starting home games

        Yup

There's also a chance of Pep tossing Bilva out there to replace KDB or Sterling for one of the three

          Right now I think:

          Silva - 37 38
          KDB - FA 37 38
          Sterling - FA 37 38
          Mahrez - FA 38
          Foden - 37
          Jesus - FA 38

          Something like this.

Goes against Pep's current trend with Mahrez (1 sub : 3 starts), but matches Foden (1 sub : 1 start)

Actually, Sterling being benched in GW36 drifted from the trend and made it quite tricky for me. Problem is Bilva

                  Agreed the problem is Bilva

Think he'll get a start and 37 seems most probable to me.

Wait. No. This doesn't match Foden's trend

Sub in GW36, starts FA Cup, sub in GW37, starts GW38. According to how he's been played since GW31, that is

This isn't based on tactics though, priorities change through a season.

The early round cup team is now the league team. That is, squad players are playing out the penultimate league game and the top picks are in the Cup side.

This may well change next Sunday at home to Norwich but has been clear in gw36 and gw37.

I'm using my FH for the last week.

My first time doing this, but does anyone else 'play the market' when it comes to this?

I've hit the button already, but rather than picking the players I actually want, I'm transferring in players that look like they might rise in value, and therefore protecting as much of my team value as I can.

Obviously if they rise and they're a player I want, happy days, I've made a saving. If they're a player I don't want, but happen to rise 0.2m, then that adds 0.1m into my transfer pot when I sell.

Is this a strategy that has actually worked for people, or am I wasting time here?
