This is not a FH team but which 4 would prefer to complete lineup ( presently on Sterling KDB Foden Vardy)- I like B but Foden clearly a risk for cameo for D Silva late on and cannot afford D Silva in that set up

A Mané Sterling D Silva Ings
    B Salah KDB Foden Kane
C Sterling Mahrez D Silva Kane

    Pope
    TAA Aurier Doherty
    Bruno Martial **** **** ****
    Woods ****

    Martinez Nketiah Maguire Fernández

It’s between A and B and it’s very tight. Salah is chasing, Sterling if ahead.

Sorry misread Mahrez in C, you’d expect all 3 of those start but 5 mods from 2 teams could be asking for trouble.

    Pope (Martinez)
    Tark Digne Maguire (Saiss Aurier)
    Bruno Sterling(c) KDB Son Pulisic
    Ings Jimi Greenwood

Am I good to go or would you do something I’m missing for this last week?

A, can see him getting given a pen. Sterling is 4 off Vardy just to match him and that’s before Vardy plays as well.

    4. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 14 Years

A - guarantees him a start - we don't anything else beyond that

Dilva already has 18 attacking returns in ~20 premier league starts this season - home to Norwich should be profitable

I agree to your post to a certain extent. Players like Ings and Sterling who are vying for the GB and not normally on pens, have been given pens to increase their goal tally therefore increase their potential of scoring more FPL points.

Yes that was what I was getting at really. I agree that players are always hungry to score but personally it would just add to the motivation to be at the top and in grasp of the boot. It doesn’t mean you wouldn’t normally be trying anyway.

The bigger impact that I was thinking of was who would be given a set piece like FKs and Pens.

Original free hit before Arsenal became a big problem

    GK Pope
    DEF TAA, Tierney* Pieters
MID Salah, Bruno, Sterling Silva(c), Antonio*
    FWD Auba*, Kane

    Subs (Martin), Niketeh*, Williams Lamptey

    New Plan

    GK Pope
    DEF TAA Aurier*, Pieters
MID Salah, Bruno, Sterling(c) Silva, KDB*
    FWD Ings*, Kane

    Subs (Martin), Greenwood*, Williams, Lamptey

Is the new plan best way to go? Both have 0 left in bank.

Can you talk about Cokey's stat below please, and also just the potential misreading of OR generally

      https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/22178620

I've seen a few people lamenting the fact that they're not able to "finish in the top 10k consistently like the experts" - whereas in reality its extremely difficult to find ANYONE who finishes in the Top 10k "consistently" (maybe its the definition of "consistently" that's the problem??)

Take some of the supermen FPL - Magnus Carlsson, Mark Sutherns, Jay Egersdorff, FPL General for example

      - Lots of buzz about Magnus, and he's having a dream season, but prior to this year, 3 of his other 4 seasons were outside the top 10k (4 of 5 if you count that first year but its probably not fair)

      - Mark, who we all know, love & acknowledge as one of THE greatest minds to ever play the game - is probably looking at a third season in the last 5 outside the top 10k - next season would be a 4th season in 6 outside the top10k if it followed this year's pattern etc

      - Jay had a TERRIBLE season last year - absolutely disastrous foray into professional punditry

      - FPL general had a tough year of it too

And make no mistake - these guys are absolute Gods of FPL

As I've said before, if there was an FPL Mount Olympus they'd be right up there wth Zeus, Thor & Kratos they are that good 🙂 But you can see even they have more than enough bad times to go with the good

So in a rather long winded and rambling kind of way - the question would probably be - is it important now more than ever for people not to beat themselves up by aspiring to some fictional embodiment of FPL greatness that in reality just doesn't exist??

It might help with some perspective & alleviate a lot of the recent trend towards people experiencing these supposed massive FPL-related lows when they get a bit of bad luck or a bad GW

Can you hold fire on that until next week's round up scoutcast. The show this week is looking at preparing people for GWK 38....but the next one will be full of the usual handwringing, its all bad luck/skill, etc.

In terms of consistency I think that's mostly referred to as those who have finished high up a number of times, even with the odd blip.

        (eg 7 top 10K out of 11 seasons 😉 )

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 14 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

Of course - it's not a particularly time sensitive issue anyways, and in fairness, it maybe doesn't even need to be discussed as its just a lot of common sense - but good to acknowledge it now & again i suppose!

Oh, and 7 top 10ks in 11 seasons is as good as it gets - you're up there on Mount Olympus as well Joe, don't worry 🙂

          1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
            • 14 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

And the other thing is that "so many more people play the game now" and "people are so much more informed now becuase of twitter"

For my money - neither of those are anywhere near as big a factor as the chips

The introduction of the chips just overnight jacked up the variance in a season to levels that were previously unheard-of

Its not that anyone who gets a good rank in the last 3-4 seasons (since chip intro-gate) is just lucky - but rather a SIGNIFICANTLY higher proportion of good ranks are now generated by the luck of a chip in a gameweek rather than good old fashioned steady hand on the tiller throughout a season

      Burnley for Pope?
A few considering city albeit at the detriment to attack
Liverpool with potential hangover from tonight?
Spurs, who have been pretty flakey despite some favourable results?

Any early shouts for either young or promoted players to watch for next season? Foden and greenwood of course look like great options if they can stay cheap, but Pereira at West Brom for example looks good if they make it up. Mitrovic maybe if Fulham can sneak in? Bamford a bit of a trap? 😉

Over the last 2 seasons the top 6 have underperformed on the final day. But GW38 does see more goals, so who should we be looking to for those "unexpected" hauls.

What are some tips for people to make one final push up the ranks?

Say from 20k to top 10k, assuming no ML worries. Both in the case of free-hitters and non-free-hitters.

Who are the MUST HAVE 6 players in a Free Hit team.
Name two differentials who are essential for leap in rank should they perform.

      Kane or Stirling ?

Salah and Jesus to Kane and David Silva

      or

      Salah To Stirling ?

Leading mini league by 8pts and he has Kane

Can't have 'em all. Salah/Mane/Mahrez/Dilva/KDB/Sterling/Bruno/Martial all warrant inclusion.

Not on a FH but he'll probably be my last transfer in, for Pulisic (assuming no injuries tonight).

Thing is, the game could have a different flavour now that Villa have their destiny in their own hands. I hope Antonio is still the good pick I think he is!

I think if you were looking for a midfielder punt for the final GW, Trezeguet is a better option than Antonio.

West Ham are guaranteed safety, Villa will fight for it. Also he is on form and has haul potential. And he's nearly 2m cheaper so "enables" the big hitters up top

Clawed my way to first spot in cash ML and made up a 50+ point difference in 1st week after restart but since then it has gone wayward. And now sit 5th.
    60 points behind top.
30 points off second but 3rd to 6th are all close.

    Need advise please

There’s more people this year meaning a higher rank is harder. More and more on websites too meaning takes more luck to finish higher

      Cheers, really interesting.

I completely disagree with the post above about it being the season of the casual.

In the past, I could always pretty much guarantee I'd rise over the final 10-15 weeks, as people's luck ran out and I avoided obvious mistakes. This year, I've been around the top 10k all season and cannot make any progress. The standard is much higher than the past as people make fewer rookie errors.

For context, this will hopefully be my 5th top 10k finish. Definitely the hardest season so far, and I had a ton of luck early on.

agree. also the definition of 'casual' is inappropriate. The average standard of folks in my leagues, even if they aren't as into the twitter/analysis side, has vastly increased, due to the amount of FPL content on FPL's own site, and the way it is much more mainstream now.

I consider myself very lucky that I managed to finish in the Top 10k for 3 consecutive seasons before this one.
It's definitely not an easy task and I've learnt that the hard way this season. Need a lot of luck to consistently get those top 10k ranks every season.
