Aleksandar Antonov wins 2019/20 Fantasy Premier League crown

A fantastic Gameweek 38+ for Aleksandar Antonov was enough for the Bulgarian to leap from third to first in the overall Fantasy Premier League standings and clinch the 2019/20 crown.

Aleksandar scored a whopping 93 points without the aid of a chip, with his successful captaincy of Kevin De Bruyne (£10.6m) proving key.

Double-digit hauls for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) and Bruno Fernandes (£9.0m) also boosted his score, with almost 70% of his Gameweek 38+ total coming from those three aforementioned players.

The two managers who had been immediately above our new champion, Joshua Bull and erstwhile leader Chris McGowan, both used chips in Gameweek 38+ but were edged out on the final day.

Joshua used his second Wildcard and racked up 68 points, overtaking Chris but finishing 18 points short of Aleksandar.

Our runner-up captained Harry Kane (£11.0m) on the concluding afternoon of football but even if he had handed the armband to De Bruyne, would still have finished in second spot.

Above: Aleksandar’s winning team

Chris used his Triple Captain chip on Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), meanwhile, with the Egyptian only registering a ‘one-pointer’ after coming off the bench in the second half on Tyneside.

Again, though, handing the armband to his vice-captain, Raheem Sterling (£12.0m), wouldn’t have stopped Aleksandar from winning.

Chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen had a Gameweek 38+ to forget after a memorable season, captaining Salah after taking a hit to bring the Liverpool winger in.

Magnus’s Gameweek score of 40 saw him drop from fourth to 11th in the overall standings.

Fantasy Football Scout Leagues

Aleksandar and Chris finished as first and second in our Fantasy Football Scout league, with Bill Wilkins claiming the bronze medal after a successful Free Hit on the final day.

Our Members League was won by Nathan Woollaston, who finished three points clear of regular contributor Lateriser.

Tom Russell claimed the third podium spot in that league.

Ismail Hossan Rasel was the victor in our post-restart mini-league, with TopMarx coming out on top amongst the Mods and Cons.

Congratulations to all of the above managers on their hugely successful seasons.

We’ll have more reaction to come on these success stories in the next few days and weeks.

Looks like I’ve crept into the top 50k for a successive year. Considering where I have been most of the season and especially pre-restart; it feels like a win.

Thanks for all the help and look forward to sharing thoughts and opinions soon for 20/21.

Maybe no one wants to speak about this since everyone's pretty much cherishing on their victories/successes but what do you think will be prices for:

    Salah
    Mane
    Bruno
    KDB
    Sterling
    TAA
    Robbo

If no one replies, i can understand why aha. But thanks

          I can't see Trent below 8.

No forward beat him, level with Vardy, 4th highest scorer in the game at 7m.

          He's the perfect FPL defender.

The main benefit of high team value is that it gives you more options which must be a good thing. However if you don't take advantage and make the right choices then it's pointless

It blinds you to the lower priced great options which often outscore the more expensive ones

Out of curiosity, Was the City lineup leaked on here before deadline?

Could have easily done Mahrez to KDB, I had the money ITB.

I read the LVP leak just 5 mins before deadline and that kept me distracted from any City leaks as it took me by surprise. Anyways removed Trent and Salah to fit in VVD and Auba in the last minute.

It’s a lot of luck I’ve found. During this season I’ve found myself going into gameweeks thinking my team looks terrible with bad fixtures etc, and I’ve scored brilliantly.
Likewise many weeks (more than the above) where I’ve been really confident on paper and scored terribly.
Unless I’ve got bad judgement it’s mainly luck to be honest.

I search for the predicted lineups and what really helps me is to know who will be on the team sheet along with my player. For example: Dilva shines when KDB is benched while when they play both together KDB is the one who hauls. Also very important for me is the history of every game and every moment. For example: Auba scored one or two goals in each of the last 2 final pl gws

Perhaps the most important advice if rank is important to you, and something which I actually to avoid doing (because I want to be different) is having around or at least 2/3s of your team being highly owned players, and with good balance of that in each position too.
E.g 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, 1 striker and some of the cheap budget highly owned ones.
That way you are only punting on a few players in each position.
You should steadily rise through the ranks then with sensible captain choices.

Lucky? Sounds like your rival played smart. OR winner captained KdB as well so it wasn’t exactly a silly decision as that guy is the best in the premier league, everyone was just chasing last week’s points with Sterling.

Anyone ever searched how many time do top players take hits in the whole year. I doubt if they are more than 3-4.

Hits rarely pays off and still I keep taking them 🙁

Ikr, who’d have thought the one I took today wouldn’t pay off:

        Bruno & Connolly
        To
        Antonio & Ings

Fixture, form, position everything pointed towards the latter outscoring but it didn’t

KDB the best player weather its real or fantasy football. Yet hendo wins the award. What a joke. Totally hate this.

An award that off field activities has a say.

      KDB will win players POTY.

Kdb has the respect and a fuller trophy cabinet. Terrible reflection on the award. If the award was for a nice bloke who had a decent season, Rashford should have won. In footballing terms, Kdb was head and shoulders above the rest.

Shame FPL doesn't award non attacking midfielders more
Henderson was never owned by more than 200k players in FPL this season

to use a Chael Sonnen catchphrase, 'its about the intangibles'

You cant track on field influence, determination, attitude, communication etc etc.

and at the end of the day, no need for him to be highly owned - his pricing reflects his FPL appeal, not his value to the team in real life.

Then work the team from there.

Trent is handy effectively as like a premium mid using a defender spot. Not sure I'll get him as the Pool have become leaky.

      ~34m + ~17m bench = ~50 from 8 starters.

  27. FCSB

So I had KDB since GW1, was chasing a 34 point ML gap so thought I’d do KDB >> Mahrez as a differential.

Turns out I had enough differentials and I missed out by 8 points, KDB got 10 more than Mahrez.

    Sickening 🙁
