Allsvenskan Fantasy

Fantasy Allsvenskan GW11 Pre-match Preamble

Oh, the joys of hitting a century in fantasy football… That moment when everything seems to come together, the stars align, and your players take to the pitch and do just what you’d like them to do every week – score a bunch of points. It’s truly something magical about it, and it’s a high that, for me at least, makes the bad Gameweeks a lot more tolerable and brings out that special feeling that we somehow actually know what we’re doing, and are being rewarded for it.

Yes, I played the powerful “Park the Bus” chip in Gameweek 10 and it’s safe to say I’m still buzzing after a 108-pointer which saw me reach a Gameweek rank of 25 as well as shoot me up the rankings, roughly 6000 places. I’m still far away from where I’d like to be, but this season, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

With a new Gameweek just around the corner today at 12.30 CET, there is little time to enjoy the heroics of the past though. Rather, now is the time to take stock of my squad, identify the weak spots and gradually start shifting them out for the next big thing. I got rid of Muamer Tankovic last week as a Hammarby attacking treble was reaping no rewards. Alexander Kacaniklic is on the chopping blocks but a nice run of fixtures with Örebro (H), Helsingborg (a) and Falkenberg (H) might make me wait a little bit longer, perhaps foolishly so.

This Gameweek contains quite a bit of interesting games from a purely footballing point of view, with two big derbies taking place in the form of AIK-Djurgården and Häcken-Göteborg. Fantasy-wise, they are a bit harder to call. Surprise package Sirius entertains a Malmö side who are starting to look really good again now that Ola Toivonen is up and running, while Norrköping travels to a Falkenberg side who are starting to develop a habit of scoring goals late on.

I’ll put my faith firmly in Sead Haksabanovic for the captaincy once more and while I have no hope of breaching the 100-point barrier, I think we’re in for a fun Gameweek with a lot of attacking returns regardless!

Scout picks for Gameweek 11 can be found here.

    Deadline fast approaching

Who are you captaining in Allsvenskan?

I'm strongly considering Lauritsen, though Haksa seems the sensible choice..

What are your final transfer calls?

Had it on Lauritsen since midweek but starting to hesitate and gravitate towards the perceived safety of Hakšabanović... Will go down to the wire!

Saving FT, want to have more freedom ahead of next week.

My final decision is who to play from Bergstrom, Augustinsson, and Walemark

Got any other Djurgården defence than Augustinsson? If not, I'd go with Augustinsson. Bergström got great fixtures but his gametime is limited.

Hakšabanović (C) for me. Considered Nyman, but ended up picking Hakšabanović instead.

J V Persson > Väisänen my only transfer. Banking the other for next GW.

4 clean sheet wiped out in 22 minutes. At least Larsson made up for it with an assist. Still don't understand how winning a penalty is not concidered a "big chance created"???

Triple-up in defence? That might be one to many, but overall 3 Norrköping is a minimum. I'd have at least 5-6 if I were allowed to!

No,no – Hakšabanović, Nyman and Lauritsen. Might consider a different striker than Nyman eventually, but it's not a priority.

Not really, may have jumped the gun out of frustration.
But as I say further down there are options now and I very well may end up taking a hit now or next gw cause some high ownership expensive mids(or their teams) aren't performing to my liking. Meanwhile some more expensive forwards suddenly are.
It's a fine line rising up or plumeting through the ranks in top100 it seems.

            1. Bob Sacamano

Just out of curiosity, who are these "underperforming" expensive mids? The ones I got - Irandust, AC, Haksabanovic are all performing equally good to Nyman, IKT and Toivonen. I've been frustrated by Irandust all season, but he's getting his 5-6p per game now which is equal to Nyman for example.

      • GertJan
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

Nyman is a goalscorer, but now he's also chipping in with an assist & bonus.

Kiese Thelin producing points and around the same price as Christiansen.

Karlsson with back-to-back 14-point monster hauls.

Is this the time to shift funds to our forward line?!

        1. Bob Sacamano

A rather drastic conclusion to make, and a big NO is my answer. If it's possible without completely changing formation, perhaps getting one premium striker in could be a good idea, but that's it for me.

Nyman is the top scorer in the league, yet he's still 26p behind Haksabanovic. Todays (unfair) bonus points was his first in 11 games, while Haksabanovic got 21. Kiese Thelin's got 2 bonus points all season - AC picked up 2 today within the 30 minutes. The ones I'd be tempted by is Jesper Karlsson, who should offer more in form of bonus, penalties, set pieces etc. Toivonen also looks good, but 11.1 is a lot to pay for a regular 5-7p. The same could be said about Nyman, who's scored 7+2, yet todays 7p was his second highest tally all season.

My advice on the premium strikers would be:
Nyman and IKT - Don't buy, don't sell.

Toivonen - Try to fit in if on wildcard and it doesn't affect the rest of the team structure.

Karlsson - If you got a midprice striker, try to find funds to upgrade to Karlsson.

Tried to suggest that on last article ahead of todays games but no bites.

Thing is, AC playing deeper now that Toivonen is playing.
Sure AC gets bonus and will still get goals and assists but today just highlighted the problem. 5 goals and no involvement stinks.
Sugita now gets the fixtures and could allow a cheaper forward to instead turning into J Karlsson for example(though wasn't he löpning when subbed).
In any case I Think it's a valid idea to shift a bit to more money up front. While Sugita maybe wont match AC straight up a more expensive forward may lift points total up.

Just used AC as an example as I'm hung up about him playing deeper. Irandust should probably also go in my case and Seb Larsson another option though his fixtures turn now so I'll be keeping for now

Toivonen could be a great pick and a great differential, I'm not arguing with that. But adding Sugita to the equation isn't fair, since he's more expensive than most mid price strikers that people own, and Toivonen is 1.0 more expensive than AC. So to afford a switch with just 2 moves, you'd have to go for Toivionen + a midfielder around 5.0, and at that price there's not much to offer. I just don't think it's worth it if it means changing the whole structure of the team, if it takes 3-4 transfers to get there, weeks of planning or taking hits. But sure, if the funds are there or if on wildcard, a switch like AC + Selmani to Sugita/Vecchia + Toivonen could be intresting.

I'm planning on Frick + Besara to Sugita + Karlsson, as a small step towards a more expensive attack. My intention was to do so for GW13, but might have to reconcider now and do it for GW12 instead.

Toivonen doesn't interest me at all. Nyman does, but Levi is a better option if no chips will be involved.

What tempts me now is Irandust and Selmani to Sugita and Karlsson. Would be a -4 but also allow attack chip next week with Abraham, Karlsson and Ludwigsson if I want to.
Ideally I would also want to do Bergmann to Levi as also Bergmann now playing deeper and with Hallenius soon also to come into the mix I don't see Bergmann getting much time in front 3. This is where AC out would come in.
Point is there are now options opening up.

              1. Bob Sacamano

Sounds like a good plan, similar to mine but I'm shipping Besara instead. Irandust short term fixtures looks bad on paper, but Norrköping have conceded 7 goals in theire last 2 away games, and Häcken is one of the teams actually performing well right now.

Looks like a decent week for the attack chip as well, although you will miss out on a Haksabanovic captaincy against Mjällby (h). I'm currently looking at GW17 with Karlsson (Östersund h), Abraham (Helsingborg h) and Selmani (Örebro h). Only worry there is if Norling will get the boot, and if that will affect Abrahams gametime.

It seems like Hammarby are increasing pressure on Tankovic to make up his mind, or simply cutting him loose. His form the last few game weeks has been in sharp decline.

This however potentially removes one premium player from the game, freeing up money to be spent elsewhere.

I always like Bahoui, a bit worried with the short time between games in August. Goitom with a double price drop though... I mean he's getting old in footballing terms, but he's still a very talented player and they don't have that many options up front.

Billborn to stay on as coach for now then. To early to say a turn around is on the horizon?

One interesting observation: Ludwigsson was replaced at half time by Aron Johannsson, who was busy: 5 shots, of which 2 were on target. Is it possible that Ludwigson's time as starter is running out?

In contrast, Kacaniklic did not do much in the thirty minutes he played: 0 zero shots.

Better not be injured as I stupidily took a hit during 2nd half and brought Karlsson in for Selmani.

Now news yet if Ludwigson was injured or not. He seemed fine and scored a goal too. But Johannsson back from injury and busy on the pitch raises question marks regarding Ludwigsson’s playing time going forward.

As much as I like Aron Jóhannsson there are three things that make me fairly certain Ludwigson definitely not a sell yet.
                    1) Jóhannsson is made of glass and there are 7 (!) GWs in August. No way he starts more than 3 tops in my book, and he won’t play 90.

                    2) As Billborn pointed out post game, what Hammarby needs more than anything right now is energy. Ludwigson is a real workhorse who puts in a lot more effort than Jóhannsson who is a more classical in the box finisher.

                    3) He’s their top goal scorer this season along with Tankovic. Billborn is not one to bench players who are performing, regardless of what the plan was ahead of season. I think it’s his spot to lose.

He went out at halftime because he was tired, not injured. He has played a lot lately and neither he nor the coach wants to run him to the ground: https://fotbolldirekt.se/2020/07/27/darfor-klev-ludwigson-av-i-paus-kande-mig-som-jorgen-brink

Interesting, and thanks for the link to the article. With so many games in August, Ludwigsson, too, cannot expect to start all, or play the full 90 minutes. This is enough to raise question marks about playing time and points potential.

I mean, the same can be said about almost any attacking player in August 😉

I was considering selling soon but after that performance, not so sure. He looks more and more at home in this league.

Mjällby goalie Johansson leaves and heads back to Malmö.
Didn't want to extend his loan deal at Mjällby.

Not good for me as I've no way of transfering him out in near future.
Will just lose money though as I've still got Bratveit

Transfers done, but can't decide how to set up my team, with x3 Elfsborg facing x3 Sirius, and x2 Djurgården defence facing Irandust. I guess I gotta pick a side, right?

        Rönning
        Castegren - Lauritsen - Witry - J.Larsson
        Sugita - AC - Haksabanovi(c) - Vecchia
        J.Karlsson - Selmani

        PK, Irandust, Björnström, PAbraham.

This is my current line-up, but it feels wrong going into Elfsborg-Sirius with doubble Elfsborg defence and doubble Sirius attack. Should probably switch to PK, right? Although that would mean a doubble Djurgården defence against an in form Häcken.

I see this a lot but to me it’s just about picking players on an individual level, regardless of wether or not I have a defender facing that particular attacker. Häcken notoriously bad against the top teams, especially on the road, meanwhile Sirius scores almost every game - PK starts for me.

Moving away from that the ceiling of Irandust seems a lot higher In general than for instance J.larsson. Again if we assume Sirius scores, you’re relying on attacking points and bonus from J.Larsson. If Häcken does score, Irandust is highly likely to be involved. If they don’t, he’s still good for bonus.

That’s my thinking anyway, I try to not pick sides in general and just hope for a bunch of attacking points and bonus 🙂

            Thanks Meltens!

Swapped to PK now. Djurgården looks solid in defence again, and as you say, Häcken rarely perform in these kind of games. Also scores most of theire goals at home and now miss Yasin in attack. I think I'll stick to Larsson though. I think his attacking threat is equal to Witry, and I wouldn't dream of benching him.

Despite owning him all season, I don't rate Irandust, and don't necessarily agree that he's likely to be involved if they score. From the 15 goals Häcken have scored recently, his involvement has been one penalty goal, one tap in goal, an assist from free kick and one assist in open play. He's the king of "hockey-assists" but that doesn't benefit his fantasy stats. And more imporantly, with Friberg and Falsetas out, Alm says he's likely to field Irandust in a more defensive midfield role, since he's so pleased with his work rate.

With that said, I wouldn't be suprised to see a 0-0 draw between Elfsborg and Sirius, with me playing Sugita, Vecchia and Karlsson while benching Rönning and Björnström 😉

Interesting point about Friberg and Faltsetas, though on the plus side that could generate some defensive bonus at least haha. I’m actually 100% with you on Irandust in general, have always had him for the long stretches of blanks. That said, points are points and he still seems to not have to work that hard to get them this year. Pens are always a nice plus as well. He’s not a permanent installation in my squad I don’t think but he’ll do for now.

              Genuine question:
You see a lot more Elfsborg games than I do I’d imagine, has Johan Larsson really been Witry-esque? He’s shooting 0.4 shots a game to Witry’s 1.2. Is he on some set pieces? The assist rate has been phenomenal lately, just curious.

Haha I would be VERY surprised if Elfsborg-Sirius finishes 0-0 ;D

Yeah, I realize it will probably boost his defensive bonus potential, but that's still just 1-2p more than he usually gets.

I've watched all Elfsborgs games, but only a few from Djurgården, and based on those games Larsson has actually been a lot more attacking than Witry. Witry's on 2+2 so far, with only 1+1 coming from open play. Larsson's got 6 assists, with 5 of them coming from open play. His last "assist" was against Varberg when he won a penalty inside the 6 yard box, and he's also "assisted" two own goals this season. If Witry's got the better stats, it's because he's much more effective so far.

I’ve watched pretty much all Djurgården games this year as my wife supports them, have to say Witry has been unlucky to not be on both more assists and goals. Djurgården draws a lot of free kicks in decent positions, he’s been whipping in great crosses that really should have been put away but they’re missing both Buya Turay and Marcus Danielson a lot in the penalty box. When they’re chasing, he’s playing as a wide forward.

I’m all for more attacking defender options so if Johan Larsson can keep it up he’s very interesting no doubt 🙂 He’s in the Scout picks so I obviously rate him, just wonder if it’s sustainable.

Anyone planning to use there double captain ship this GW?
Lauritsen and Haksa against a Mjallby in poor form.. I'm tempted 🙂

And what to do with Kacaniklic? Transfer to S.Larsson and hope for a new manager boost? Or maybe a sideways move to Khalili?
With that said, if Kacaniklic starts this weekend he could do damage.
        Not a easy decision!

Could be an option, though to be honest Norrköping defence hasn’t impressed lately. I think I’m holding that chip either until a very nice opportunity arrives or until GW30 to be able to differentiate a bit with most going for Hakšabanović captain.

I don’t think I’d sideways move Kacaniklic to Khalili just yet. It’s a bit of a case of how much you think last week was a fluke or if they’re going to start performing on a more regular level. Fluke - get rid, otherwise hold for this GW and probably next with Falkenberg at home, then get rid if he hasn’t picked up form. I sold this gw as part of a bigger plan to shift around funds but not sure it’s the best timing really. Still have Ludwigson though.

I would save the chip. There will be other interesting games further on, where the players will be more rested, and the opposition worse than Mjällby (like Falkenberg). Still think Lauritsen and Haksabanovic is the best choice for that chip though!

I would keep Kacaniklic for the next two games, then ship him. That will give you two weeks to watch how AIK play under theire new management. If it looks like they can turn things around, I'd concider Bahoui. 9.0 for Larsson is an awful lot of money for a couple of bonus points and an odd goal or assist from set pieces. At that price, I want a threat from open play as well.

Both great options IMO, especially with the fixtures coming up. If you can live with the managed minutes and rotation risk, I'd go for Vecchia. He's the more attacking player and the more long term pick, with Sugita leaving after August. That said, I got them both 🙂

I like Vecchia a lot, got him in this week. He shoots an insane amount, costs a million less and he won’t be leaving at the end of August like Sugita when the loan expires. Minutes will continue to be managed but I still have faith in him delivering while in the pitch.

Nice picks! Not sure about Augustinssons position though. I only owned him for two games and in both, Käck was the one playing LW while Augustinsson played a much more defensive role, almost like a LCB. In the game I played him, he also list all set pieces to Walker.

Yeah I don’t see him playing there too often but against AIK he was definitely playing further forward than Käck. Neither has looked great in that position though so we’ll see 🙂 Just hoping he doesn’t get benched now haha.

Boring answer, but just leave it as it is, because it looks fine. I know it might sound stupid to waste a FT, but it's not! People tend to forget that when two team's are on the same amount of points, the one with the fewest transfers made will be ranked higher. I'm currently ranked around 400, and 23 other players got the exact same amount of point as I do. 6 of them are ranked above me because I've done one or two luxury subs/short term punts, but 16 teams are behind me because they've made more transfers while I've been rolling mine.

Ekpolo's got 3 great games coming up after Norrköping, so I wouldn't get rid of him at this stage. Kacaniklic and Hammarby looked slightly improved against Helsingborg, so I would defenitly keep him for Falkenberg at home. Berget is a big no for me. If I pay 8.5 for a player, I want it to be a key player, or at least a guaranteed starter, not a constant rotation threat competing for spots with Toivonen, Rieks, Traustasson, AC and Nalic.

Might be risky going without Björnström and a Djurgården defender, but on the other hand, your team looks fine. For the future, I'd look for another keeper, and maybe ship Kacaniklic next week for someone like Sugita. That would free up cash to upgrade Väisinen/Kahl to Björnström/Augustinsson. Also keep an eye on Vecchia. Although his injury didn't look serious, he could still be out for a few weeks.

                Good luck!

Bob that's awesome, you were around 8k a couple of weeks ago! You must have had a few monster scores. I started slightly above you and I was pleased with my rise to 5400, so in comparsion you're absolutely smashing it.

Thanks! Mostly green arrows since GW8, but not as big as I would have wished for. Riddiculasly tight there, with 23 other players at the exact same score, and a single point could see me gain or drop 20 places. Had Björnström second on the bench last week, got Irandust 2p coming in instead. Frustrating as it would have put me up about 200 places.

It's tricky, but it looks good to me. Always difficult with attackers playing defenders like AIK-Elfsborg and Häcken-Norrköping. If you can afford Väisänen to Björnström that looks like a good move this week, and save the other transfer. Vecchia looks unlikely to play, so the bench must be set in order. Abraham - Ekpolo - Kahl looks right then.

I think the proposed Berget and Witry transfers looks like a great idea to be honest. Yes Falkenberg at home is a plum fixture but neither Hammarby nor in particular Kacaniklic has looked that great. Fixtures after that aren’t great either with Djurgården and Norrköping away coming after.

Kaca could indeed deliver this week but Malmö and Berget should do better in the coming weeks, also Witry is pure fantasy gold in my very humble opinion 🙂

Haksabanovic (VC), Christiansen (C), Larsson, Ulvestad, Vecchia

Bench order is really tough there! I would actually concider Okumu first sub. Elfsborg are usually solid, and AIK lacks edge this season. I can't see Elfsborg conceding more than 1goal, and with Okumu almost guaranteed 2 defensive bonus points that would give him at least 4p.

Thanks Bob, then I will probably do that. Abraham is good value fodder but he's hardly pulling up trees and he's seeing his minutes managed.

I have Abraham 2nd after Bjornstrom (playing Witry, Lauritsen, Augustinsson, Ahmedhodiz), but coin flip really

Now that is a benching headache! Is Bjornstrom really not a better shout than any of your starting players?

Maybe better than Lauritsen on paper, but I don't really want to bench him either. The rest are AC, Haksa, Alm, Kaca, Vecchia, Karlsson. Kind of hoping Vecchia misses out to make my mind up for me

Yeah fair enough. Can't see Vecchia starting (a propos of nothing since I don't watch Allsvenskan and I get all my info from here and the official site XD) so you will probably get him off the bench anyway.

I would defenitly pick Björnström over Alm. Doubble Elfsborg attack away to AIK looks a little to heavy. On the other hand, Vecchia absense would solve the dilemma for you.

I got no real issues going forward now, but I do have some different plans for my "Attack" chip in GW17 and would love some input. If fit, I will play Karlsson (Östersund h) and Selmani (Örebro), but who should be the third striker?

                    1) PAbraham (Helsingborg h). Great fixture and is already in my team. Wouldn't take a major overhaul, I would be able to keep my current structure. AIK doesn't look good though, especially in attack, and Abrahams minutes could be limited with theire new manager coming in.

                    2) IKT (Falkenberg h). Premium player in a great team with a great fixture. Would however take an overhaul of my team with at least 3FT in the coming weeks, downgrading Johan Larsson to be able to make a straight doubble swap like PAbraham + Irandust --> IKT + Isak Jansson. There is also a major risk going for IKT, with GW17 squeezed in between Malmös Europa League qualyfiers. I will also have missed most of Malmös great fixtures between 13-16.

To sum it up, is it worth using 3-4 transfers to get IKT in for the "Attack" chip? I would really love to maximize the chip, but it's also a lot of planning and transfers to do just to get one player in.

IKT (or Nyman?) the better option but I probably wouldn't overhaul things for one player in a sgw unless they're moves you want regardless. Having said that I wouldn't be keen on playing a chip for an AIK player.

Thanks! My stance is pretty much the same as yours. I've always been sort of a spokesperson against premium strikers in Allsvenskan fantasy, and that the "Attack" chip is not something worth planning for since attackers usually get much fewer points. From that point of view, it makes more sense to keep Abraham. If IKT were guaranteed to start, I would probably lean more towards that option. Hopefully AIK can pick up some attacking form until GW17. If not, I could actually save 2FT and make the the decision as late as ahead of GW16.

I think the attack chip is just going to have to be played whenever the moment seems right, preferably when AC/Haksa either have worse fixtures, seem off form or even are suspended. I’m not going to plan for that this season but if I were to, I’d probably want to target games like Falkenberg at home - planning 3-4 transfers ahead though seems like asking for trouble with this congested schedule. If going Abraham, perhaps target a fixture that AIK will be first out so you can be sure he starts. Good luck regardless of when you deploy it! 🙂

                          Thanks!

Yeah, I've been very fortunate with injuries and suspensions this season, so I've been able to carry many transfers which have helped me a lot. Having planned transfers that far ahead is probably a bad idea, but as it stands, I could actually wait until GW16 before making the decision. GW17 seems like the best option to me though. I'll miss out on a potential AC captaincy haul against Falkenberg, but again, the game is squeezed in between two Europa League games so he could just as well be rested.

Ask me again in about 3 hours when AC grabs his hattrick ;)...

Defenitly keeping Vecchia until I get more info, as first reports sounded promising. They said he was able to stand and walk yesterday that he felt less pain and that it at least wasn't anything more serious than he's old jumpers knee. I can't see him playing on thursday, but I'll start him just in case, with Johan Larsson coming on as first sub. Even if he'll be absence for a couple of weeks, I might keep him anyway. I want him long term, I got no other issues with my squad, and it's not as if I can get anyone even near his quality at that price. Whoever would come in would still be a bench fodder.

About Malmö, I'd love to triple up, but can't afford it. The only Malmö players I'd concider owning is Dahlin, Anel, AC, IKT and Toivonen. Already own Anel and AC, don't wanna drop any of my keepers and I'm not even close to affording IKT or Toivonen. Not sure they're worth it eigher at that price, and most of Malmös players seems to be rotation risks, especially with the Europa League qualyfiers coming up. So triple-up would be nice, but it's not essential IMO.

It strikes me that it's a good, maybe not amazing GW to do it. But if you're thinking about benching a good defender just so you could play a nearly equivalent mid/fwd then this might be the time.

I considered PTB with Witry, Lauritsen, Kahl, Björnström, Okumu but I have too many playing away (4 out of 5) which is putting me off.

Yeah, having 3/5 playing away kinda puts me off too. I'm quite liking gw15 as the one for my PTB chip. However I still have my WC which I was intending to use then. Perhaps I'll have to bring it fwd to next gw.

I think I probably won't someone more attacking than Ahmedhodzic for that and probably some better home games too.

It's also no easier to bench the rest of my players. Got a pretty strong squad:

Yeah, finding it really tough. Feel like there's no easy choice. Ahmedhodzic feels like the lowest ceiling option but probably most likely CS, then there are about 4 other players I'd consider but all could easily burn me. Falkenbergs have been very poor defensively but good going fwd so maybe I should just bench Widgren?

Vecchia out, AC(c) and Witry bench...will be happy if I can field 11 players this GW, and big red arrows will be flying in. Got the AC news in good time before the deadline, unfortunatly the idiots reported he would be "rested" not benched. In my book "Rested" = not in squad, so I kept him in my XI as captain and can now expect a strong 2p after a 10 minutes cameo. Dream scenario now would be an early injury to Toivonen and AC coming on early, but thats hoping for a lot.

At least Vecchia's injury isn't serious. According to himself, he was never worried, and hope he can play again this weekend.
