Hall of Fame number one Fábio Borges joins Fantasy Football Scout for 2020/21

We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

Full-year subscriptions are available for the pre-season price of £17.50 until August 31, while rolling monthly Memberships can be purchased for £2.99.

What chances Bergwijn is nailed? Unfortunately I can't stretch to Son and want to capitalise on Spurs good fixtures.

If you’re question starts with ‘any chance of’, I think you’ve answered your own question about a player being ‘nailed’.

Something to ponder over. With everyone not owning all the premium assets, how will this influence prices?

Will prices fluctuate more, be stable or we could see these bizarrely* priced premium assets to correct their prices and fall?

*bizarre in the sense that they're too many and you can't even have more than 3 this season compared to the last season when you could easily fit 5-6 of these same premiums

How does Kane have A fixtures and Son B for instance?

The team looks like this right now.

Gotta hope that Vinagre starts the first few games but Wolves can easily sign a new LB and throw this draft to the dogs. It is built around the double Wolves defense...

        Yes.

4-4-2 GW 1 with double Wolves.
Bench Vinagre GW 2 for MCI
Bench Justin GW 3 for MCI
Rotate Justin/Soucek based on form of respective teams.

Plan is to hold transfer GW2. Have 2FTs in GW3 to remove Auba and spend the remaining money.

But I have a rush option too of Werner > Martial if I decide I want to WC in GW3 for whatever reason...

The more I look at Fulham’s opening 5 fixtures, the less I like Mitro as an option. Sure, they will be fired up to be back in the top flight, but Parker’s tippy-tappy style plus the defences they face doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I have problems picking midfielders for GW1... Under 8.0 there aren't any standout options to be honest. Only 2 players I'm pretty settled on are Salah and Son. Who else do you have? I would like first to see Ziyech in pre season, as I'm not a big fan of him, but if he's nailed for 8.0 he could provide great value this season anyway.

    Hi guys,

Looking for some fpl money league advice. I've been running one every year for about 15 years and there is one problem. One player is super elite and has won basically every single year (top 10k finish or better every time). Over the year's I've tried to keep it interesting for everyone in the league, most of whom are just casual players by adding a range of prizes including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, furthest run in the FPL cup and monthly winner but I still lose participants every year because they feel like they are just giving money to the guy that always wins. Any ideas of another prize I can add to incentivise the casuals? It's just a bit of fun really so I'd just like as many friends involved as possible. I heard about a "millionaires club" idea where those outside the top 1m at Christmas enter a separate league for a small prize at the end which I thought was a good idea but does anyone have any other ideas for this? Thanks in advance!

just don't let the 'elite' player play, slightly unfair but a fairly obvious solution

Haha yes I've always toyed with this idea but I'm afraid it will compromise the integrity of my league. Plus I like the challenge of trying to beat him. He overtook me on the last GW of the year last season and I finished with an OR of 2.4k!! This year is my season!!

Weekly prizes. This is how my work does it:

50 to enter, 25 to the weekly winner (minus hits) and pay top 3 so the season guys still have some prize to fight for.

So some smart but casual managers could just go all out with their chips on certain weeks and still come away winning. I ended up 2nd in the league last year but only won 1 weekly prize all season because of people just randomly going all out for certain weeks.

We used to play a tournament with UCL format, will increase the work but it was fun. H2H is something where a super elite and normal player can face off on almost same level.

Another idea was something like LMS but on monthly basis. If you are in bottom 2-3 after a month, you are knocked out. Score resets every month.

You can also award for things like least amount of hits, highest captaincy scores, least number of YC/RC/OGs, best GK/DEF/MF/FWD record etc.

      Quick question....

How important is team structure and how much emphasis do you out on it when picking your initial team?

I have a team I really like with good fixtures but the flexibility isn't great to get United and City assets in quickly, or anyone that starts on fire. Keen to know people's thoughts on this. For example, I currently have both Kane and Werner up top with bench fodder, but also have 2 X 5.5 mfs in a 3-5-2. I think both mfs are great value but just feels wrong starting 2 5.5s. thoughts?

Surely at the start its better to have flexibility to bring in premiums.
There are so many, it shouldn't be difficult.

The downside with so-called flexibility is that, invariably, it is not the player at that price point you want to take out.

Say if you have Auba and you plan to swap to KDB in GW3, but Auba scores a hattrick in both opening games, you won't want to remove him, based on form. So you'd have to take other players out somehow.

Having said that, no harm in planning, and the above is still my plan.

My chips all in tragic punt draft alternative squad .

      McCarthy
      TTA Ferguson Vingare Justin
      Salah Auba Armstrong Saintmax
      Werner Kane

      Nyland-Greenwood-Brewster-Mitchell

*disclaimer I won’t start with this (**) but if Brewster(loan), fergMitchell one should start every week, and greenwood waiting (no sancho) nyland villas early keeper.

It’s a huge blag for everything to fall into place but would set me up for KDB early in and united already there . But as mentioned I will bottle it

Everyone is at this price point
        I’m unsure
I’d say ASM if Newcastle started well could be a great asset and price riser but Armstrong in a much more attacking tram imo

ASM, Richi, Leeds def, Perreira from WB, Willian are the ones I’ve considered. And Gordon as a 4.5 bench option.

So we all know that Auba, Salah, Mane, KDB , Sterling, Kane, Bruno, Bardy are brilliant..
but they are all fully priced big hitters ie they've been priced accurately and without much undervaluation.
Who are the players that you feel could be big hitters who can potentially hit near 200 but are Underpriced? For me
      1. Rashford: I paid the premium for him last year and at just 0.6. more I now get more goal points and clean sheet points.
      2. Pulisic/Ziyech/Warner: Betting on Pulisic from the start of fit. One of those will be a bargain at some point
      3. Son: Every year people ignore him and every year he does well. Priced at 0.7 less than last year and is still the same player.
      4. Mahrez: Buy him, hold him and never captain him. Let the law of averages guide you all season and you have a potential 200 points player who will frustrate but will do the business long term. Competition for spots in less than last year and unless city buy more mids he should top his score of 175 from last year.

Pepe/Willian could be gold too but there is no way I'm starting without Auba. He is probably the player I'm most excited about this year and will be my main big hitter. I don't care what fpl says.. he is a striker 🙂

If any Mahrez has more competition. Sane was injured all season and Foden was out the picture. They now have Bernardo, Foden and Ferran Torres as left footed options for RW.

Werner, Ziyech, Pulisic. All are underpriced imo. Werner's numbers last season are unmatched by anybody (34G, 13A in 45 games in all comps).

Martial is another one who can get over 20 goals with some assists. Rashford at 9.5 as well, got 17 goals and 9 assists last season in what was a bang average side until Fernandes joined. He also had a broken back which probably didn't help!

Think I'll start GW1 with this

      McCarthy
      TAA, Vinagre, Justin, Ferguson
      Auba, Salah, Ziyech, Armstrong
      Werner, Kane

      Button, Brewster, Stephens, Taylor

After that Salah>KDB, Aubameyang>Greenwood which frees up a bit of cash to upgarde Stephens to Son possiblly.

I think werner & ziy too big a gamble for £18M.
Just Wern for me as he's more likely to start every game.

Wait guys I have Auba in my GW2 team along with Bruno and Greenwood but who would be my other Premium mid? I'm using a wildcard during GW2 so I can take Auba out GW3 for free. If not KDB then who? Salah has Chelsea.
