Hall of Fame number one Fábio Borges joins Fantasy Football Scout for 2020/21

We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

Full-year subscriptions are available for the pre-season price of £17.50 until August 31, while rolling monthly Memberships can be purchased for £2.99.

Same. The Ev game will be very low scoring so I'll probably have Ziyech and sell him for Bruno ahead of GW2.

        1. Karan14
          • 8 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

I think Ziyech or Pulisic could definitely be better 1 GW punt. Even considering keeping Bruno on the bench now.

That's not a bad shout and something worth considering. He's going to get a price rise ahead of GW2 anyway.

If I can get one of the 4.0m starters from Palace or some cheap 4.5m def with a good fixture in GW1 I'll probably bench Bruno for one week.

I see lots of people have the McCarthy / Nyland GK combo.
What are you thinking for GW2?
Can't expect a McCarthy clean sheet against Spurs. Are you banking on Nyland playing at home to Shef Utd?

      McCarthy set and forget.

Set and forget on McCarthy. Saints stats are very good. At home to Spurs they can absolutely get a clean sheet. Their fixtures are really nice too for a while. Might reconsider the keeper on my WC (which hopefully won't be super early)

    4. Jay Jay Okocha

Why not? Spurs aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut under Mourinho

    5. Valar(Keith)

I'm thinking of owning 4.5 Keepers in blocks of good fixtures.. will start with McCarthy.. will swap to Ryan/Some one else post GW 12 when I usually WC and then switch again for the last WC end of season to DGW keepers etc. Realised that it's better to just play your keeper every week instead of rotating. Most of them end up with 130 to 150 anyway. Can catch the next Pope on WC later if he shows up

Saliba & Magalhães could potentially be our CB partnership for a decade, in the best-case scenario of course.

4G, 8A, 12CS last season. Wolves started poorly as well due to Europa League and Doherty was in and out of the side back then. So he had 24 returns in something like 31 starts last year. I like Mitrovic as a cheap forward but for what we know Fulham will be dross and he's got no chance of getting anything like the numbers Doherty got last season. No Europa League this season for Wolves either.

    Thoughts on this lot?

    McCarthy
    TAA Tierney Fergie Egan

Plan to get Bruno or KdB is to potentially remove Armstrong and Kane.

Except they didn't really over-perform. They just exceeded expectations.
They performed consistently throughout the season to a standard that gave them a deserved top half finish

            This is a fair assumption.

          Anecdotes are not facts.

Salah scored 233 points. Mane 221.
          Salah 6.9 ppg, Mane 6.3
          Salah 19.4 value, Mane 18.4

I too owned Mane more than Salah last season. But there was a 1.0m price difference. There is no difference this year. Picking Mane is straight up an inferior option to start the season.

Salah = 6.9 points per game, 233 total

Because they are at equal price this season. So Salah is easy choice right now. Similarly this time I will start with sterling instead of KDB for the same reason. This could cost me but I have made my mind

      The trends are

      Minutes
      - Salah: 2900 > 3300 > 2900 > ???
      - Mané: 2200 > 3100 > 2700 > ???

      Points
      - Salah: 300 > 260 > 230 > ???
      - Mane: 150 > 230 > 220 > ???

      Prices
      - Salah: 9.0 > 13.0 > 12.5 > 12.0
      - Mané: 9.5 > 9.5 > 11.5 > 12.0

Might be do to not having a picture. Would be my best guess 😉

Think it is a nice team, but going Werner & Kane makes it too hard to bring in the ManU and City you want from GW2 and GW3.

I think 3x 5,5/5 mids are too much, but it does look fine 🙂

Im guessing vinagre and dallas swap for gw2. Id suggest monitoring armstrong during pre-season, a good player when he plays but is prone to rotation.
Was on ASM myself but opted to downgrade to ritchie to enable Fernandez in def with that extra 0.5m.
The 6-7m price point is a punty blackholenor id have suggested dropping mitro to 4.5 and upgrade asm/arm but id say stick wiv him until someone looks better in mid. If you do feel liking taking a punt barnes and moura could be good options but otherwise stick.

With so many bid hitting midfield options this season I personally think Werner with a 6.0/6.5 and a 4.5/5.0 forward line is the way to go. As others have pointed out you really need to be keeping options open to bring in Man U /City Mid's from GW2

    Choose:

    A) Doherty, Armstrong, Bruno & Mitro
    B) 5m Def, Ziyech, Martial & Mitro
    C) 5m Def, Armstrong, Martial & Jimenez

B or C means 2 premium mids so I'll be using more of my tranfers there to have two of Salah/KDB/Bruno whoever look best for captaincy.

Been mentioned already, but I keep seeing so many teams with Werner. Do you think Chelsea will start all the new players immediately? Seems unlikely. I can see Ziyech starting, but with Giroud & Tammy, I expect Werner to be eased in, and let’s face it, most of us are really only planning our big hitters for the first week or two - these are the positions we’re most likely to be using transfers on.

Or are you all convinced he starts every game from the beginning?

I agree. We've seen this happen many times. Depends on your strategy and approach to the game I suppose and how aggressive you like to be. I might go with one of the above but definitely not both

Personally I think he’ll play a lot, he’s a proven goal scorer in the bundersliga and exactly what Chelsea needed last season, they created the second most chance after city in the league. However Abraham and Giroud both were too wasteful with these chances which many people think werner will be more clinical with. Plus with Willian leaving pens are up for grabs and werner did take a decent amount of pens at Leipzig.

    5. Marmalade Forest
      • 6 Years

Ideally he’ll be a Morata-esque player. Plenty picking him as the Chelsea number 1 striker. Failing to return regularly.

But I can see him starting and scoring lots, and me coming, tail between my legs after he’s risen to £9.9m.

    6. Third Eye Vision

Okay. Thanks for all the replies. My strategy is to always start with players whose minutes are secure. I’m benching one Man Utd player and the rest of my bench is weak.

Obviously, the Chelsea attack potentially has some real bargains to jump on early.

Injuries and form changes. Ferguson lost his place at lb when it was clear he was leaving. It’s a real wait and see as this is an area where we’ve been linked with a few players in the transfer market.

      I'll get KDB from GW3.

Pereira plays for WBA, who are a rubbish team. He has no PL form.

For cheaper you can get ASM, Armstrong, Soucek and Saka who all have shown a level of form in the PL and play for better teams (= more goals = more likely to get points).

Similar story with Ziyech (unknown quantity), particularly given the team also has Werner.

Thanks for the reply. I’m set on Ziyech as I expect him to score well from the start, but I’m wavering between Periera and ASM, partly because I would like the extra 0.5 itb. Nyland, Ferguson/Johnson, Dallas/Ayling, Brewster(should he go on loan)

2.0 in the bank, gives me room to bring in Bruno for Son GW2 and a bit more. Many difficult GW2 fixtures though.

    Thoughts?

      Personally I would consider

      Kane > werner
      Justin > aurier

But otherwise its very solid and Kane could be good differential.

Same as my team really, am torn between Vinagre / Adams or Doherty / Davis.
