NEW DESIGN FOR PREMIUM MEMBERS AREA

Having said all of the above, we’d naturally love you to come on board as a Premium Member for 2020/21 – if you haven’t already.

Only paying subscribers will get unrestricted access to all our tools and stats in our Premium Members Area plus loads more articles and insight from our ever-expanding team of elite FPL contributors, such as Hall of Fame number one Fábio Borges, Hall of Fame number three Darren Wiles, ex-champion Simon March, five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman, three-time top 200 finisher Lateriser, six-time top 5k finisher Zophar and Fantasy Football Scout’s founding father, Mark Sutherns.

You can expect another announcement or two on that front coming soon…

On top of that, we’re excited to announce a big overhaul behind the scenes.

We’ve listened to your feedback and our Premium Members Area is currently undergoing a major revamp to make it easier to use and more mobile-friendly.

You can take a sneak preview of what it will look like in the video below:

PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP PRE-SEASON OFFER ENDS SOON

Fantasy Football Scout Premium Memberships for the 2020/21 season are still available at the pre-season cost of £17.50 – but time is running out on this offer.

Subscriptions will rise to the regular season price of £19.99 after August 31 so, if you haven’t already, make sure to sign up before that point in order to secure the best-value rate.

The yearly fee of £17.50 works out at an equivalent of less than £1.50 a month (or 5p a day!) as, instead of expiring on June 1 as was previously the case, these rolling annual subscriptions now cover a full 12-month period.

That’s better value than our rivals are offering for the equivalent all-access Premium Membership package.

If you prefer to dip your toe into the water rather than plunge right in, however, we are continuing to offer rolling monthly subscriptions for just £2.99 per month.

And here’s what you’ll be getting for your money in 2020/21:

Ahhhh, here we are. My first DZ in years, how are ya chaps.

Look up on my works, ye mighty, and despair.

    Lloris (Ryan)
TAA - Doherty - Vinagre - Taylor (Johnson)
    Salah - KDB* - Fernandes - St.Maximin (Anguissa)
    Brewster - Antonio - Jimenez

All standard names. GW1 you've got at best 10, possibly 8 starters. Waste of 0.5 on the keeper situation - Lloris plays every week.

believe it or not, that fields XI assuming my subs start. which sub do you think is a sure no-start?

interesting on the GK, i hadn't even thought of it, thank you. I may go Doherty -> VVD, but i had a dream that Doherty will be Jose's new Ivanovic

i'm late to the party in terms of doing pre-season prep and finding it really difficult to come up with starting strategy, mainly due to price and position changes. thats the point right...

I see many going for McCarthy in goal. Is it an easy decision to start with 4.5m and spend the money elsewhere. Just a bit wary of Saints defence with Hojberg no longer there in midfield and they also had the worst home record in the league last season

    thoughts on this one?

    1. The Knights Template
      • 10 Years

Spend 4.5m on your keeper. Go Ryan/Button if you don't like the other options.

    2. Andy_Social
      • 11 Years
      3 years, 7 months ago

McCarthy is a fairly safe bet. He may get fewer points that a more expensive keeper, but the gap is usually less than in other positions, so many go cheap in goal and invest outfield. If you think Saints will be as bad as Bournemouth, then avoid, but really it's a question of who gets more - McC or Ryan.
You ref to 'last season' - you have to separate the pre 0-9 disaster to the new formation, new attitude second half of season.

Kind fixtures or otherwise, I'm not sold on Justin, given Leicester's absenteeism and issues at the back.

You could argue he has some goal/assist threat, but I'd be more inclined to downgrade one of Saka, ASM or Armstrong and use the 0.5/1m to upgrade one of your 4.5m defenders.

That said, you probably have a tidy rotation set up between the four of them.

I think you waste a lot of money going with three 5.5 midfielders. Especially since you have four 4.5 midfielders.

      Downgrade and spend money elsewhere.

I like that it’s got some names you don’t see very much. As long as you embrace the fact that the week you transfer Richarlison out (in frustration at his limited returns) he’ll haul and compound the misery,

More seriously, I feel like Barnes/Jota both ended up sharing minutes with others (e.g., Perez/Podence) but if they do play they’ll be great value.

My main concern is being priced out of moves for big hitters. I always like keeping 0.5-1.0 ITB at the start of season just to be safe, but Doh has a much higher ceiling than any of those other 3 players...

There's definitely a suspicion among posters that a transfer to Spurs is going to put a major dent in Doherty's attacking returns, but on the other hand Spurs have a pretty friendly set of fixtures to start the season (one tough fixture among the first eight). I'd be surprised to see Doherty lose value over this stretch, and if he takes on the role of the one attacking FB in Mou's attack (see Aurier last season) he could be set up for some good returns.

I don't think rostering him from the start with a "wait and see" kind of attitude is that major a risk - you can move him out and turn him into pretty much any other defender without having to make a second transfer to create money to make the move go.

The Spurs move has made me a lot less committed to the idea that Doherty will be on my team all season long, but I'm willing to start the season with him to see how it works out. When Spurs fixtures take a turn for the worse, I will definitely revisit. Maybe a move to AWB?

Could be a good move, the whole of our (spurs) back line could be a little suspect to rotation if they don’t perform well so Lloris is a safe bet

That said I think Doherty will do well assuming aurier leaves

In my current draft I'm going bold by including Davies and Doherty. Gonna ride that horse until around week nine. To quote the band Spinal Tap, "there's a fine line between stupid and clever."

Looks good. My only worry would be Mitchell’s minutes. Appealing as Werner is, I think a combo like Robbo/Mitrovic is going to outscore Werner/Mitchell, particularly because you have 2 x 12m mids meaning you’re unlikely to captain Werner much.

      On my watchlist.

Think he could be a future star at a big 6 team but he has not played at this level and is in a weak team with a rough start.

Easy fixture run and I will be tempted

His fixtures for the first eight weeks are all 2s and 3s. It's not a total cakewalk, but it has me thinking of rolling the dice for sure.

I dont like the Leicester and chelsea fixtures in first 3. Please dont say but they are at home, u cant surely think the colour coding is as relevant without fans. Hone games make no difference. Opening fixtures are bad brah

Set-pieces, aggressive on ball and likes a shot, can play a long ball/through pass really well which could be handy if West Brom are forced to play counter attacking football with a lack of possession in the top division.
Only doubt in my mind is he plays for west brom and therefore may be starved of chance, however if they score it's likely he'll be involved in one form or another

    For GW2:
    A) Rash + Greenwood
    B) Rash + Foden

If Messi ends up at City, I have some real concerns about Foden's minutes. With Silva's departure I had an estimate of around 2000 minutes for Foden which would make him a top end 6.5 mid with upside. Messi's arrival would demand a rethink.

Of course Greenwood is in the same boat where his apparent value could be blown up by the right (wrong) transfer.

I'd be putting that decision off as long as possible.

Who would be the most likely to sacrifice minutes if Sancho is brought on board? I'm under the impression that it's Greenwood. My top two are

      1) Fernandes (bring in week 2)
      2) Rashford (bring in week 2 or 3)

Right now I'm happy with Ings and Jimi up front every week and have Brewster in as my third F waiting to see where he might go on loan. Rashford fit a slot better than Martial did. Also feel like there's a good number of decent places where I could land if I wanted to move Rashford - definitely keeping an eye on Chelsea's attack.

My drafts were designed to start with Greenie on the bench and bring Bruno in GW2. But yesterday I looked more closely at their opening fixtures. GW2 & 3 easy enough, but then miserly defences. I can see too many 1-0 results meaning it's not worth having premium assets. For all the talk of City having bad fixtures until GW11, I see more goals in them so am now looking at KDB + one other from City and not bothering with United. I'm structured so that if I change my mind, 1FT brings in Martial or Greenwood.

Newcastle are bad though. Usually you weigh up the value of midfielders based on the potential assists but that strike force is so woeful I'm steering well clear.

      He is in my team.
If he stays in Newcastle he will play (not all games - injury prone and will probably rotate)
He may as well be on penalties, free/corner kicks.
I mean - you can’t expect much more from 5 mil player.

What do you guys think? Not seeing Rudiger in other teams, so I guess he is not nailed?
    Johnstone (Nyland)
    Vinagre, Alexander-Arnold, Lascelles, Rüdiger, Walker-Peters
    Salah, Aubameyang, Son (Gordon, Greenwood)
    Vardy, Mitrović (Brewster)

The plan is to switch Vardy into Werner if he is a success. Auba/Salah to KDB and Son to either Fernandes or Rashford. Johnstone to avoid having KWP and McCarthy.

Certainly if you look at their fixtures they are mainly mid table prem teams and below and not the top six but these arent easy games for a newly promoted team who were terrible the last time they were in the prem.
