Fantasy Football Scout to partner with Football Index for the 2020/21 season

Sponsored by Football Index

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ll be joining forces with Football Index in the upcoming season.

We’ll be producing weekly articles throughout 2020/21, while there will also be regular segments on our Scoutcast and plenty more coverage besides.

If you’re new to Football Index, think of it as a revolutionary betting platform that works a bit like a virtual stock market.

Similar to player prices in Fantasy Premier League, the aim is to bet on the future value of the players when the price is low and then sell on when the value is high – the key difference here being that traders can profit from their ability to spot a bargain who is about to hit the big-time.

Fantasy managers can use their expertise to anticipate the on-field success of their assets in question, with dividends awarded for goals, clean sheets, assists and a whole host of underlying stats, from shots on target and accurate crosses to aerial duels won and tackles.

This is where the data in our Premium Members Area can really come into its own and give Fantasy Football Scout subscribers the heads up on which players could prosper on match days.

But that’s not all: along the way, traders win media dividends for positive headlines written about their players, so it’s worth keeping an eye on off-the-field events as well.

Like all betting platforms, the rules are fairly straightforward, and the nuances become more familiar with time.

We’ll be back over the weekend with a more detailed guide on how to play Football Index but head over to their website now for more information and tips on how to turn Fantasy prowess into a successful portfolio.

And don’t forget: this is trading with real money, so always gamble responsibly.

    McCarthy, Button
    TAA, Davies, Vinagre, Taylor, Dallas
    Salah, Auba, Pereira, ASM, Stephens
    Mitrovic, Kane, Werner

    Thoughts?

Pereira and Mitro are the ones I'm not sure about.

I'm kinda jealous that you've got Kane. My only dislike in there is ASM

Reckon of you're having both Kane and Werner maybe downgrade Mitrovic to a 4.5. and upgrade elsewhere. Get rid of him and ASM if you're not happy.

Ryan instead of McCarthy in a ‘set & forget’ for the season

Down grade either or both of ASM & Pereira and upgrade defence in a 523 or better still rotate with 433 depending upon fixtures

Are the Manchester clubs player's prices locked until GW2 kickoffs off ?

        Are you sure?
In what circumstances are player prices locked then?
I think it is crazy that their prices can change before they have had a fixture.

Because the game is underway and their prices will change in accordance to transfers in just the same. Prices don't freeze for blank gameweeks at any other point in the season.

I get that. But I think they should be treated as 'new players' as they haven't played a game week. Therefore prices should be fixed until GW2 starts.

Maybe they'll be nice to us. They just haven't clarified that they will be so I assume not.

Nope, first kickoff means the stock exchange is open. This will be the opportunity for us who hates to gamble with Manchester boys early on. As soon as some injury concern or Covid quarantine arises, people will dump them like crazy and we can buy them cheaper.

Price probably locked when a game is suddenly cancelled due to weather/riot/etc and rescheduled later, but definitely not blank.

It’s clear that they manually manipulate the price changes to a fair degree.

I would be surprised if they allowed a player, like Bruno, to rise .3 before the GW2 deadline.

Had the same doubt. Is there any chance to get 100% confirmation? i read the rules, and it says: „ Player prices change during the season dependent on the popularity of the player in the transfer market. Player prices do not change until the season starts.”. This would mean - their prices will start changing since Saturday, Sept 12th, right?

GW2 will be full of Wild Cards any way and players that rise will be players that hauled in GW1 who are not massively owned already, which excludes the Manchester bunch

I 100% see the argument for using your WC for GW2. It has it's positives such as planning squad to maximum GW1 points and getting in early on players that will rise in price.
I'd argue waiting until GW3 is better as you have twice the data plus we then know more about both Manchester team's starting XI's (using WC GW2 is still gambling on Greenwood, DVB, Foden etc).
I have no problem with doing either as long as this is your starting plan. Knee jerking your WC GW2 or 3 stinks of desperation and insecurity.
Personally am planning on saving my WC until xmas time to work a double GW BB.

I agree. The first IB after transfer deadline could be the best time to WC if necessary, and if not, the second IB is great too. Early WC also means potential profits down the line and good time to build TV fast

Foden, Traore, Eze, ASM, Armstrong, Soucek. Maybe Rice! Maybe even Lundstram! That would be a good plot twist if he became a great midfield option after his epic season as a defender.

Cheers, I do worry for Lund & Foden's game time little out of that list but some very good shouts. Soucek seems a popular pick

Soucek is a bit awkward because ideally he'd be a fifth midfielder but his fixtures after gameweek 1 are a nightmare. However, that could work in his favour as West ham's likeliest route to goal in those tough games could be from a set-piece. As long as you have four other good options in midfield you can probably weather that shitty storm and get some decent returns.

Is it likely that utd and city assets will end up overvalued this year given that all of their players will likely start with very low ownership and then go through multiple price rises? This is a problem with the pricing algorithm in my view.

It happens the other way too, with Wilson being massively owned at the beginning this year and then dropping in value fast despite a decent enough start. I expect the same will happen to Auba as well who will become very nicely priced.

It's certainly different! You have reasonable flexibility too as long as you plan to stick with your two big strikers. I'm just concerned about your Southampton double-up in defence. Don't like McCarthy. Would rather try to find another 0.5 and have Ramsdale.

Yh the issue I have is i need to play 4 at the back and there aare no other appealing 4.5 fodders (well there is Taylor but hes got a blank gameweek) so I had to choose KWP. Once I take out auba for KDB i will have 0.5 to work with

I agree to a certain extent with his comment. I wouldn't double up in SOU defence but I like McCarthy, I think I read somewhere he only conceded 8 goals post lockdown. I would rather up that 0.5 on an attacker

lol im an arsenal fan and am having mixed feeling about him. Hes still very young and I believe last season he got alot more gametime because of the injuries. With the signing of Willian I feel he will play less. During the 60th minute mark he gets really tired and arteta subs him off...this is another problem I have. I believe there will be more signing in that attack department also. Dont get me wrong hes a brilliant player but I feel like arteta is building a team which will have alot of rotation

Really like Saka but with the possible of Pepe - Willian - Auba to start, Saka could be bench or dropped to LWB.

ASM might be better to start but if Saka can prove his minutes after 3-4 games, he should be the best pick

I like the look of Willian but I don't think he's worth the risk when you have more assured starters like son and Alli at around the same price. Very much wait and see with arsenal.

It's possible if DDG made some consecutive mistakes, Henderson takes his place like Kepa in Chelsea when he's replaced for several games, but for now, most likely backup and cup keeper

I expect sheff utd to be pretty similar. Ramsdale was Bournemouth's player of the season (not saying much considered they got relegated, but still). Sheff sold him to Bournemouth so it looks like the local boy returning which will help his confidence etc. I think Ramsdale should do well and they have good opening fixtures to see how it all goes. I have both him and egan

Yup agree. Last season Henderson enhance their defence indeed but Ramsdale is still young and talented. With a good Goalie coach and experience shared by the team, SHU could still maintain lots of CS at home

Also, sheff are a team that relies on their defence to keep them up. They're not known as an attacking team, so they would've done their research on any keeper they bought to ensure he could maintain this.

    Which option to choose:

A)Ziyech(keep long term) + TAA from the start

    OR

    B)Son(keep long term) + Robbo
because I have no founds for TAA and then do double free transfers in gw 3: KDB + TAA in place of Auba + Robbo

    Need help thanks a lot!

    Ryan (Button)
TAA / KWP / Vinagre (Johnson / Mitchell)
    Salah / Auba / Son / ASM / Armstrong
    Werner / Ings (Brewster)
    0.5 itb

The plan at the moment is to have Ings, Son and Auba out for Martial, Rashford and Sterling by week 3

      1) Milivojevic. he's only 6mil and i expect Palace to win more pens this year if as expected Zaha plays up front, with Eze winning some too with his dribbling trickery

      2) Trossard, another 6mil player who i really like, but i'm just scared of Harry Potters tinkering

During pandemic, no one is guaranteed starter, they can be sick anytime so benching GW2 players is not a wise move.

Sorry about Ings/Davis, you're right, i assumed earlier if you eventually drop Greenwood (and maybe Salah for Robbo etc), can pick Ings/Davis, you can spread the fund

If looking at Football Index do not expect quick easy money. Pick the right players and hold for season picking up dividends will likely make you profit but don't underestimate the emotional and psychological factors which leads to most investors losing money.

My main issues with it are unlike with stocks/crypto one is unable to set buy/sell orders and have to just market sell. This means there is a spread which FI control and use to stop players selling at certain times. For example, the spread of buying and selling Sancho at covid lockdown was greater than any spread previously. It is in their interest to keep money in and benefits all players too but that level of manipulation is too much for me.

    Non-Werner owners - whats your alternative - Kane/Vardy/Jimi/Ings?

As much as i'd like to go with Werner, his high ownership is putting me off when there are proven options with good fixtures in a similar price bracket.

Ings is the one for me. I'm currently set on a front two of Ayew and Barnes but once I've come to my senses I'll probably remove one of those and VVD for Ings.

Kane - difficult to squeeze in at that price with all the great options in midfield.

Vardy - similar to above plus Leicester had a poor finish to the season and are minus Chillwell; overpriced slightly.

Jimi- similar to Vardy in that losing Doherty can only have a minus effect, and he's the same price as Ings but tends to pick up less bonus from what I recall.

don't gamble early on, i have watched Werner for the past 2 seasons in the Bundesliga and he's truly a quality and a prolific goalscorer and he only needs 4 minutes to score in the preseason, Werner - Ings is the right way to start IMHO

Vardy is too expensive, Jimi need to find form and maybe GW4 is best, while instead of Kane, you can pick Son or Alli

      Good luck

The trick is to spot which newbies are gonna settle in quickly like Bruno and which ones are gonna fail like Di Maria. Werner is quite obviously gonna hit the ground running and you will need him. If you really don’t want to start with him you’ll need Kane, Aguero or Vardy to downgrade if you don’t want to end up taking a -4.
