Pro Pundits team up for exciting new podcast ‘The FPL Wire’

Ahead of the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season, we have added another podcast to our rapidly growing Scout Network.

Powered by DreamSetGo, Lateriser12 (three top 200 finishes), Zophar666 (seven top 10k finishes) and BigManBakar (came fourth in 2014/15) have teamed up to bring you ‘The FPL Wire’.

These experienced managers, who have loved this game for years, will be discussing FPL every Tuesday, hoping to give you all the insight, information and banter you need to make your big decisions.

All the three FPL managers featured on this podcast have very contrasting managerial styles. So we hope these personality differences lead to engaging debate, each of us analysing from three different vantage points.

Every week, they will be discussing a Hot Topic as well as an in-depth look into two to three Premier League teams. The FPL Wire’s pre-Season podcast debuted last week, where the trio discussed the top four teams, the promoted clubs and three other Fantasy-relevant sides in great detail.

In the second episode, they will be taking an in-depth look at how to tackle Blank Gameweek 1, Wildcards, Going with Mohamed Salah (£12.0m) as well as discussing Kai Havertz (£8.5m), Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United.

This podcast is powered by DreamSetGo, a sports travel and experiences platform offering bespoke travel and hospitality packages around global sporting events, and curated experiences with your favourite sports celebrities.

Soucek passed fit is great news.

For me he's the ideal GW1 punt to cover having a united mid on the bench because of his price point

Yeh, but it's going to be a constant dilemma whether to play or bench him after that.

I will play the fixtures. Meaning he will be benched after GW1 for several weeks.

I am gonna rotate him with a 4.5 def and ASM depending on fixtures and form

Not for me. His fixtures are poor for a while after. I'd not consider him until GW8. I know its .5 more than a base player but I'm leaning towards it anyway as a decent first sub since I have the budget.

Currently on B. Kind of hoping to minimise the defensive transfers this season.

TAA and Saiss would stay for a long time. However I am thinking I’ll end up wildcarding early as usual anyway so should just plan for the first 5-6

Looks like Leno - Arsenal won’t want to risk an injury to Martinez who is worth 20m to them

        Agreed

New team and think I’m now set for weekend:

    McCarthy
    TAA Digne KWP Egan
    Salah Auba Son ASM
    Mitrovic Werner

    Steer Mitchell Stephens Davis

1.5m in bank for Son > Fernandes/ Rashford then willl re-evaluate options afterwards. KDB / Sterling, Martial Fernandes/Rashford all on radar.

    1. Fulchester's New Centr…
      • 6 Years

Good enough. James might eat into Digne's points, which then makes him a bit expensive.

      1. Uns95
        • 6 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

True - think give him benefit of doubt and see how things shape up their first couple games. Other option was Dier / see how Spurs line up first couple weeks and consider Doherty. Didn’t fancy Gomez for double Liverpool.

  5. One Man

Have many ppl a plan to get Fernandes ? Surprised more don’t have him due to his explosiveness last season. Will challenge the 12m players this season.

Agree with this. Might end up with Bruno and Martial, but initial plan is just Martial from GW2.

He doesn’t play gw1 and is still already owned by 21% of players.

Fernandes points per minute are unreal and Rash has lost penalty duties to Fern.

      On my bench right now.

Considering Son as a placeholder in GW1, but can't decide if it's worth the transfer I need to use before GW2 where I want to cap Bruno

      1. One Man
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

I have no option, as also have Laporte and Ayling. But I’d be happy to hold off and leave son in if I need to put out a fire elsewhere or a 4m defender emerges.

      2. One Man

I've got Kebano at the moment. On free-kicks and rapid on the counter which they will have to reply on this season and if he's involved in the consolation in a 5-1 battering who cares about the defense LOL

It's actually difficult. DCL may either really come into his own this season or get dropped. Rich might play upfront or maybe even Kean decides to fight and proves himself better.

Good point as always Camzy. It’s only a matter of time before your cover is broke and you’ll be writing these articles. On a positive note, DLC could easily be moved to a cheaper alternative.

Now I’ve just gone completely left field after tinkering too much.

    Johnstone
    Egan, Vinagre, Justin, Saliba
    Auba(c), Havertz, Soucek, Ceballos
    Werner, Ings

    Button, Shaw, Fernandes, Martial

😆 and I just said yesterday I wouldn’t bench a player over 7m... after fw1 it would be 343/433 playing one of Soucek/Ceballos/4.5def

    Time to log off?

    1. Fulchester's New Centr…

I had a Martial and Bruno benched draft a week or so ago, but it looked better than that one. Defence is an eye-sore.

      1. FPL Blow-In
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

To be fair most drafts on here include all those defender, just not all together as they are risks. Egan, Shaw and one of the three 4.5’s should be ok I guess until I get Trent in gw4

    2. Pegboy

      Soucek + Ceballos... No way

      Justin not 100% nailed

      Saliba not 100% nailed

Look at Man u transfer to be sure Shaw will be nailed

In a Covid year, you want 15 nailed players

      1. linkafu

        Vinagre not 100% nailed

      2. FPL Blow-In
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

I only need Justin for gw1&2 and bench him gw3. He will become Trent in gw4. Saliba is a risk but David Luiz is injured supposedly. Shaw, I will wait for PC, could also be Lindleof.

For a no-liverpool team, i dont think its pretty good, it looks like 90mil team. Here is one version which i find more appealing:

      McCarthy
      TAA/Coady/Davies/KWP
      Auba/Havertz/Son/ASM
      Ings/Jimenez

      Bench: Nyland/Martial/Mitchell/Bissouma

I am stuck between 2 set ups- which do you think more sound and why-A or B?

A I think more flexible. Plan would be
Week 2 Ings to Martial and/or Salah to Bruno or Pulisic/Havertz
    Week 3 Auba to KDB/Sterling

But- Not sure I want a 4.5 attacker on bench

    McCarthy

Salah Aubameyang (c ) Alli ASM Soucek
    Werner Ings

    Button KWP Brewster Brewster

    B Loose plan would be
Week 2 Martial off bench and carry transfer
Week 3 Auba to KDB/Sterling and free transfer elsewhere if needed

But- Would be difficult to get Bruno

    McCarthy
    TAA Dier Justin
Aubameyang (c ) Son Havertz Soucek
    Werner DCL

    Button KWP Taylor Martial

If money no problem, would you pick Armstrong or JWP?

Debating a defending trio of TAA, C Taylor and Steven's of SHU. Maybe another 4.5 to rotate with taylor but I dont mind the 3 to stay. 3,4,3 or 3,5,2 at times.

Seems to be a big topic just now. But how are people (preferably spurs fans) thinking the defence will line up?

I've had Doherty since draft one but now I'm worried with Aurier around. Mourinho has said about him being clumsy but he did seem useful in his system.

Thinking Dier is the safest bet

Dier, Toby A & Davies all pretty nailed.

Still think it's likely Aurier is sold by the transfer deadline, but very possible he starts first game. I doubt we'll have time to integrate Doherty properly, particularly as we'll have to shift the formation slightly to accommodate him.

Perfect. I'll shift the budget then and get dier. I was tempted by Davies but he always seemed to tuck in as a third CB to allow Aurier to get forward?

That's right. Dier and Davies both offer v.little going forward at the moment.

Is Ramsdale + Button still a decent 9m combo ? Consensus a while back seemed to be this. Are there any better options ?

Is Douglas (Leeds) a starter? Or close to being one?

I've got Adams as thrid striker. Although I'm not really sure I want to spend 6.0 on him. Worth it?

bench is going to have a little bit too much on it for my liking, unless you've got some epic rotation I don't know about - pretty good team though
