Team Reveals

Fantasy Football Scout’s best FPL team reveals ahead of Gameweek 1 deadline

As Fantasy Premier League managers search for the best players and best combination of assets for Gameweek 1 of the 2020/21 season, we have collected our Team Reveals all in one place.

The clock is ticking down and everyone in the FPL community is desperate for some answers. Thankfully we have them in abundance.

Fantasy Football Scout will be running exclusive weekly Team Reveals on the site throughout the season (which you can ACCESS HERE), but as it’s the last day before the Gameweek 1 deadline we are publishing a bumper edition.

We wanted to do something special, by sharing insights from a whole team of leading managers together in one place. Welcome to the best Gameweek 1 Team Reveals…

1. Lateriser12

Three-time top 200 finisher and India’s reigning champion, Lateriser12 is going without Salah, but how has he spread the funds? Premium Members can find out!

2. Simon March

Former FPL winner and four-time top 7k finisher Simon March is also going without Salah. Premium Members can find out why!

3. Darren Wiles

Currently sat third in the FFS Career Hall of Fame, Darren Wiles is going light up-front this season, but which mid-price forwards have taken his fancy?

4. Az

Co-host of the Scoutcast and FPL Black Box, Az has gone for a 4-3-3 formation in light of Blank Gameweek 1’s awkward nature.

5. Andy

With six top 20k finishes to his name, Andy Mears, our video manager, is eyeing up a Chelsea double-up for the start of 2020/21.

6. Zophar666

Recorded before Ziyech’s pre-season injury, this team reveal video from a seven-time top 10k finisher reveals a Chelsea double-up combined with lavish spending elsewhere.

7. Gianni Butticè

Author of Fantasy Premier League: Unlocking the Secrets to a Top 1% Finish, Gianni is going for the bold approach of a triple-up on Arsenal this season.

8. Karam

Karam has gone for the rather bold approach of tripling-up on Liverpool… in defence!

9. Sam Bonfeld

Fresh from a 3k-finish in 2019/20, Sam has somehow managed to get FOUR players priced £10.5m or higher into her team.

10. David Munday

Fantasy Football Scout editor David is toying with the inclusion of Harry Kane this season.

11. Neale Rigg

Fantasy Football Scout’s deputy editor Neale has considered going with a 4-4-2 formation to accommodate investment in Manchester United from the start.

12. Stephen Harrap

Meanwhile, the second-placed FFS Career Hall of Famer, Stephen Harrap has opted for a decidedly puzzling line-up (see what we did there?), choosing to semi-reveal his intended starting squad in cryptic crossword style.
The first person to correctly identify the squad in the comments will earn a Premium Membership (and our eternal admiration!)

I really enjoy this moment, less than a day before the season starts. The storm before the calm ... before the next storm. More than 5 million teams out there right now. The hopes and dreams. "... is this just Fantasy?"

I do have Werner. Choosing Son would give the bigger spread across teams. Surprised there's not much love for Mane and Salah double up. Easy to move one out for any Utd player next week too.

Auba being so popular is one reason. Salah and Mane rarely hauling in the same game might be another reason (especially for those planning a GW 2 transfer with Utd mids in mind).

Can't help but feel it's a small risk starting with Utd players. Do you not worry he might get injured? Or drop in price? Why not just get a better player in this game week and make a transfer next week?

I'm on a PC now so hopefully I can make my point a bit better and understand your point of views and arguments for including Son.

Can I start by saying that I 100% rate Son; he is an excellent finisher, dynamic dribbler at pace and would be nailed in my team if Kane was injured. But I don't think people are making the distinction between Son and the amount of goals he scores when played centrally, and Son when asked to play on the left.

Since lockdown, GWs 30 to 38. All with Kane.

    1-1 Man Utd (h) - 0g 0a xG 0.16
    2-0 West Ham (h) - 0g 1a xG 0.08
    3-1 Sheff Utd (a) - 0g 1a xG 0.00
    1-0 Everton (h) - 0g 0a xG 0.16
    0-0 Bournemouth (a) - 0g 0a xG 0.10
    2-1 Arsenal (h) - 1g 1a xG 0.94
    1-3 Newcastle (a) - 1g 0a xG 0.07
    3-0 Leicester (h) - 0g 0a xG 0.15
    1-1 Crystal Palace (a) - 0g 0a xG 0.02

I don't know if that reads well, but it's a return of 2 goals and 3 assists over 9 games. Son's average position in 7 of those games is on the left. In those games, his xG is practically zero. Look in the member's area and there are 20 midfielders that had a higher xG since Lockdown.

Interestingly, Mourinho tweaked his tactics vs Arsenal, instructing Sissoko to double up on Aubameyang and played Son through the middle with Kane. Son returned a goal and an assist in that game and his xG far exceeds the other matches.

This pre-season Son has been in the goals again. But he's playing through the middle in the absence of Kane. Maybe Mourinho will make a tactical tweak this season - I really hope so for all those putting their faith in Son.

Ings offers no value this season. At 8.5 he would meet to match his output for last season and I don’t see that. He over performed his xG and there are too many better options at that price point

    Ryan, 4.0
    TAA, KWP, Saliba, Dallas, Taylor
Salah, Sterling, Son, Greenwood, James Rodriguez
    Ings, Rodrigo, 4.5

Thoughts? Fancy a 352 this year rather than my usual 343.
