Vardy the most-owned asset on show as Leicester take on newly promoted West Brom

The first of two Premier League matches to take place on Sunday sees newly promoted West Bromwich Albion entertain last season’s fifth-place side, Leicester City.

Kick-off at the Hawthorns is at 14:00 BST.

Much of the Fantasy interest in this fixture, unsurprisingly, is in the visitors.

Four of the Foxes’ assets boast double-digit Fantasy Premier League ownerships at the time of writing.

By contrast, just one of Albion’s starting XI, Matheus Pereira (£6.0m), features in more than 1% of FPL squads.

There were no huge shocks upon the release of the teamsheets, with James Maddison (£7.0m) only match-fit enough for a place among the substitutes.

Jamie Vardy (£10.0m), the most-owned player in today’s game, leads the line for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

A whopping 80% of his attacking returns last season arrived against sides who finished 10th or below.

Timothy Castagne (£5.5m) is handed his Premier League debut, while James Justin (£4.5m) also gets a start at the back.

Pereira is joined by Grady Diangana (£5.5m) and Callum Robinson (£5.5m) in the hosts’ attack, with all three players hooking up with the Baggies again after successful loan spells in 2019/20.

Just five of West Brom’s 14 Championship clean sheets last season came at the Hawthorns – the first not arriving until February.

West Bromwich Albion XI: Johnstone, O’Shea, Ajayi, Bartley, Furlong, Livermore, Sawyers, Gibbs, Pereira, Diangana, Robinson.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Justin, Ndidi, Soyuncu, Castagne, Mendy, Praet, Tielemans, Perez, Barnes, Vardy.

Im afrsid the pricing of big hitting mids (which i like) has totally killed of players like vardy and kane as options for now

Maybe later in the season when team values are high and lei or sours have a strong fun of fixrures/dgw

I don’t think I’d get Kane even if he was 8m. Martial and Werner should outscore him.

I’ve got him. He looks the best of the 6.5m bunch. One eye on DCL today.

Hmm 8m is a bit of a stretch i think. I wouldnt want kane atm even with good fixtures but at 8m i would

      We’ll see

On last seasons form Vardy absolutely crushed it for value on this years prices. That form stretches back into last 50 games actually

The 12.0s are overpriced strictly in terms of value

Comes down to captaincy which justifies the 12m as shown yesterday

        1. Nightcrawler
          • 4 Years
          3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah id say the most overpriced in terms of value is probably auba. Just not captaincy material apart from may e 4 or 5 home games all season

Salah for sure underpriced imo. His hauls are very predictable which is worth an extra 1m if not more

Lots of hard luck stories with Mo C last time out I recall. A bit of recency bias I suspect.

Part of the trouble is Liverpool hauls May be predictable but Mo Mane isn’t.

This is his 4th pool season and the only time he was disappointing as a captain was a period last year...not always but sometimes. I wouldnt read too much into it. His hauls over the past 4 years have largely been very predictable

Lost me right there I’m afraid when you say 4 years

In the last 18 months he and Mane have been almost exactly point time point until yesterday. I simply don’t believe you if you can say which ones Mo hauls in

Fact - they have only hauled once together in the last 18 months - they were also until yesterday within one of each other on hauls

Not sure whats mane got to do with this now all of a sudden.

During his time at pool, salah at home has been very reliable in terms of attacking returns. Salah at home has been the best captain option since arriving at pool. Obviously there will be a blank every now and then and u could cherry pick some games from last season but overall its the most predictable thing going on

Vardy is proper old now. All the wear and tear he avoided by only playing sunday league for years will catch up with him, predicting a quiet season with a couple of consolation hauls against crap defences.

    Mccarthy (Nyland)

    Salah - Auba - Havertz - Alli - Soucek
    Werner - Adams (Brewster)

Massively declined. He’s one of our “8 wingers” at the club. All of who can’t beat their man. We were desperate for lazio to come in for him but I don’t think they’re interested. If he goes we want to replace him with benrahma but looks like we’ll miss out on him too because we’re moving way too slowly.

How nailed are Charlie Taylor and Mitchell for Palace? Both dependant on injuries? If so, which injuries should I monitor?

    1. Klaren

Taylor is 1st choice. Mitchell is backup for Van Aanholt.

Mitchell is a short-timer providing cover for an injured van Aanholt. Charlie Taylor got the starting job about halfway through last season and held it. You'd probably want to see Burnley play before declaring that Taylor is nailed, but I'm thinking that's a pretty safe assumption.

The most likely long-term 4.0 defensive starter at Palace is the currently-injured Nathan Ferguson.
