Doherty makes Spurs debut as Everton hand starts to three summer signings

Following on from Leicester City’s 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion, the second Premier League match of the day sees Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton.

Kick-off in north London is at 16:30 BST.

The headline team news is that all five major summer signings from these two clubs are handed their full debuts today.

Matt Doherty (£6.0m) makes his Spurs bow at right-back, with Serge Aurier (£5.5m) relegated to the bench.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£5.0m) also slots straight into central midfield, as expected.

Having not featured for the Lilywhites in pre-season thanks to self-isolation and international duty, Harry Kane (£10.5m) is back to lead the line.

Son Heung-min (£9.0m), Dele Alli (£8.0m) and Lucas Moura (£7.0m) will support the England international in attack.

All of Everton’s three summer signings make their full debuts, with central midfielders Allan (£5.5m) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.5m) selected in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI.

James Rodriguez (£7.5m) also makes the cut, despite having started just one league match in the last 11 months.

Son and Doherty are the most-owned players on show here, with both players boasting double-digit ownerships.

Kane was the fourth-most-popular captaincy pick in Gameweek 1, with just over 300,000 FPL managers handing him the armband.

Richarlison (£8.0m), who may well be occupying a wide-midfield role based on Everton’s starting XI, is the only Toffee with an FPL ownership of over 10%.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies, Hojbjerg, Winks, Dele, Lucas, Son, Kane.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne, Allan, Gomes, Doucoure, Rodriguez, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

I suppose the aggressive play if Chelsea look good is the triple up week 3?

Kane and Ings to Martial Werner to add to Havertz

Get the benefit then if the worldy Auba will score as well 🙂

If Havertz looks good then I’m earmarking him post Liverpool.

Yep those look good. See how Chelsea do first .
My planned transfer is Vardy or Werner >> Martial.
      Hard to do now.

Vardy surely worth holding for the first 5? Captain material GW4 and 5.

Possible but probably not. With triple up and very light data the risk is so much higher than spreading to good teams City United and maybe an emerging Everton? They will not blank easily with their fixtures.

        You're right of course

Played a very aggressive week 1 team and need to draw my horns in a little. Kind of dubious about Chelsea as it happens right now - think it may take some time.

Leave Ings alone if you have Alli

He was perfectly fine and that fixture isn't so very great for United.

Consider James instead perhaps. Better fixtures for sure and much more central to team play

I’m willing to keep Salah long term, Auba surely goes for City mid before GW3, that leaves me with Son and Ings out - one of them to be should become United player.

If you could have one, who is the pick from Bruno, Rash and Martial?

Could be also Ings to Martial and Auba Son to KDB Rashford -4 the week after.

Ooh, exciting about James. Going to try and find the full match somewhere then. Highlights might not do it...

Richarlison was dangerous, bar his goal DCL was invisible, and James Rodriguez will do well. Everton will be so tough to beat with Allan and Doucoure patrolling the middle of the park.

Spurs were toothless, lacked imagination and didnt look arsed.

Everton very good, richarlison in particular (though wasteful today).

Doherty attacking and had one super chance (great save). Son on set pieces and quite involved but spurs looked off the pace. Alli and Kanr anonymous

Richarlison has never convinced me as a finisher. Terrific player, but doesn't own any shooting boots.

Doherty could be dangerous then... not sure I trust Spurs defence though...

    Ings to Martial as planned.

Think I'll scout chelsea players tomorrow and if Spurs look that bad next week I'll need to move Alli to one of them or JRod

Also doing Ings to Martial but think I'm selling Alli for a hit as well. If I was convinced he was going to start maybe I'd give him another week but he could easily be benched. Rodriguez at home to West Brom looks so tasty.

Really don't get the Martial move for a minus 4. Spurs defence poor Palace defence good and you're going in the opposite direction?

Rather hasty on that planned transfer if you have Alli - you're picking Palace defence 2 weeks in a row. There'll likely be a score but only a couple of goals that could anywhere, Is Ings against Spurs bad?

Undo if you can and just fix Alli

19 points from two players in 1st and 2nd place on my bench (Digne and Jamal Lewis). Let's hope for a wee Werner knock in the warm-up tomorrow... 😀

not with his potential attacking returns. totally agree with camzy below no point owning a premium defender and benching him. imo 🙂

So horrified to hear so many benching Digne stories. Never bench a defender that costs over 5.5m. You're buying those guys for their attacking returns.

Crikey. I'd only have a £6m Def if I was going to start them every week.

Think it was Leeds first goal
Winger burns TAA, cuts in and puts it in the far side.
A real classic Chelsea Torres goal.
    Who scored that one?

Harrison. Former Real Madrid player apparently.

Ooh, interesting. I do like him as an FPL asset...

Original plan was to do son to Bruno. Although I did know before about the Sons fixtures, they are too good to transfer him out, he looked involved today and on set pieces

So I would like to go Egan to Digne, any help with the decision would be great

Yeah it's not that Egan is bad, I liked Evertons defense so much and digne would get attacking returns too

Ings must have been pretty bad ?? Loads on here are getting rid. Work weekends so rarely see these players Sat or Sun.

He was almost invisible, I think he had one header on goal, easily saved. The whole team was hopeless.

He wasn't bad - lots of knee jerking going on with people taking him out for a minus 4

The game was a poor match up for him in the end. Very few goals ever get scored at Selhurst anyway
