Late registration open for FanTeam’s €1m season game – start on 46 points in GW2

Sponsored by FanTeam

Missed the Gameweek 1 deadline for FanTeam‘s €1,000,000 FPL-style Fantasy game?

Fear not, as you have a second chance to enter ahead of this weekend’s action – and you won’t be starting from zero points.

Late registration is now open for FanTeam‘s season-long game, which carries a guaranteed prize pool of €1m.

Finishing in the top 5,659 places ensures a cash prize, with €200,000 of the kitty going straight to the winner.

Weekly and monthly prizes are also awarded.

New teams registered before the next FanTeam deadline at 11am BST on Saturday morning will be handed 70% of the average Gameweek 1 score (which equates to 46 points), so will immediately have the edge over circa 7,000 Fantasy managers who were involved from the outset.

In case you needed more persuading, here’s how you can turn your late entry into an advantage.

Unlimited Transfers

Those entering a new team in FanTeam‘s €1m FPL-style Fantasy game will get unlimited free transfers between now and the start of Gameweek 2.

While those who registered teams before 2020/21 got underway will only have one free transfer (and the precious Wildcard) in their locker, managers of newly entered teams will get to tweak their sides as much as they like until the next deadline.

Gameweek 1 eye test and stats

Picking a squad ahead of Gameweek 1 relies a lot on gut instinct, with the knowledge that last season’s performances and statistics may now be immaterial.

Fantasy managers entering a FanTeam squad ahead of Gameweek 1 will have the benefit of having seen 16 Premier League clubs in action on the opening weekend of 2020/21, so will be armed with line-up information, eye test observations and up-to-date underlying stats when creating their teams from scratch.

Manchester United and Manchester City Players

Both Manchester clubs, along with Aston Villa and Burnley, were without a Premier League fixture in Gameweek 1.

All four of those sides begin their league campaigns this weekend and Fantasy managers entering a team in FanTeam‘s €1m game using late registration have the advantage of being able to include the likes of Kevin De Bruyne (£12.5m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.0m) from the off, rather than attempting to navigate a tricky blank on the opening weekend.

I would change Havertz, looked too far off the pace for me. Will come good later in the season I'd imagine

Pondering it myself with similar squad. Unsure of what to do with Kai right now, if anything. Think it's Greenwood or James Rodríguez, but kind of would want that United Cover for this run.

Price changes are part of the game and fun but it's funny how much they can affect you

If there's no price changes I keep Alli and think he'll start vs Southampton

With price changes I am moving him onto James rodriguez- who I thought did very well from a non fpl perspective but am still unsure about his point getting credentials and don't want to assume Everton can perform like that every game

I am considering shipping Alli as well, but haven;t seen enough yet of Rodriguez. Need to see him play at least 3 games - Spurs might just be utter poo and making other teams look good

Really? This is very interesting. Any chance the reason would be that he is going to Madrid or something else that would suggest him not starting in both EL and PL?

Prices won't be locked imo. They must increase threshold for price rise but they will definitely rise once before GW2 deadline.

I guess that's wishful thinking. They've been transferred in by loads already. They must have increased threshold for price rise but they will surely rise 0.1m each before GW2 deadline imo.

Wait in my opinion. One game week of data so don’t panic transferring between Ings to Wilson. Every chance Ings scores And Wilson doesn’t this week.

Only excuse to transfer is if players didn’t play / got injured imo. No huge surprises in GW1.

You know Ings is good - otherwise, you wouldn’t have him. If your plan was Ings to Martial - I can understand that. If you want to sell Ings for Wilson after 1 GW - you should have Willy from the start.

Harrison to Soucek and save 0.5 then spend the 1.0 in defence and play 4-3-3, Soucek first on bench. All midfielders, under 7.0 mill are rubbish

I think I’m more tempted by double City from GW3 than having a United mid/fwd, not convinced their fixtures are as easy as has been made out. Their run in was extremely favourable after the restart.

The two nailed City options are way too expensive than Martial.

Martial + 2.5m over double City mids. I wouldn't consider a City striker just yet.

Yeah true there is a price difference, but it depends on structure. In my team id likely be moving Mitro on to get Martial whilst downgrading Son. The alternative is downgrade a defender (TAA to Saiss maybe) to do son > Sterling and get KDB for Auba. I think I prefer the latter.

                C) someone else? Zaha, Barnes, Grealish, Foden

Everton fixtures are too good to pass B here I think.

Could also then move Rodriguez out for Zaha to play GW5.

Maybe plan for a 6.5/7m forward bracket instead, and use any funds you spare there to increase midfield.

I think it's more the WCs at play that prevented rises last night. They weren't red-flagged, just had blanks. And players having a blank GW have never been price-protected. Time will tell if I'm wrong, but there's no real reason to price protect them.

It's not happened before, though. All options are still on the table. New players added to the game have to obtain a 'base' ownership which is why they're price protected so this base has a time to build. Its not inconceivable that those without a game in GW1 will have been treated similarly.

But I don't know - it's just a hypothesis. My expectations are that they can rise/fall as normal because people could transfer them in before GW1 if they wanted.

Just watched some EFL Cup highlights. Things that stood out for me: Debut goals for Fraser (New) and Watkins (Villa). Watkins also missed a sitter tho but he'd be happy to be off the mark. Grealish and Haller looked good.

And how wonderful penalties can be: Bournemouth - Palace went on forever with only the goalkeepers missing (probably didn't feel confident after letting in 10 penalties). And even Milivojevic can miss, since his second one was saved to ensure bournemouth go through. Because opposition isn't like the PL you can't take away too much from it, but Grealish, Fraser, Haller and Watkins will feel confident at least after their performances.

Villa only play on monday. Enough time to get their 20m pounds goalkeeper up to speed i think. So i think at best 20% chance Steer starts

Arguably Nyland could still be ahead of him in the pecking order. Just because he turned out in the carabao doesn’t mean a huge amount imo

That's not at all why he's considered first choice.
                    https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2020/08/22/the-best-budget-fpl-goalkeepers-for-2020-21/

"While Nyland played more Premier League minutes than any other currently priced £4.0m goalkeeper in 2019/20 (537), and is currently in 17.3% of teams, he did not exactly impress during Project Restart.

Meanwhile, when Heaton was first injured, Steer was the man Smith turned to instead of Nyland after he helped Villa to an impressive run of wins and clean sheets en route to the Championship play-off final in 2018/19. The only reason Steer did not feature more often last season was because he himself got injured eight minutes into deputising for Heaton and missed the rest of the campaign. Mostly recovered from that knock now, Steer could be one to consider as bench fodder in the event he features in some pre-season outings."

On top of that, he was amazing against United on the weekend. Steer is almost certainly preferred over Nyland!

But Martinez will probably start at the weekend...

Given the new Villa signings (Watkins and effectively Grealish), which option would you go for:

                A) Start Soucek (ars), 1st bench Egan (avl)
                B) Start Egan (ars), 1st bench Soucek (avl)

Is he, though? Looked great in the match when he came on. Don't you think he'll displace Elneny?

I heard Elneny played great too (Jenas or someone on MOTD). Besides that, he will hardly get any attacking returns from that position, yellow cards more likely.

Elneny was good compared to the way he usually plays--didnt give the ball away much--but Ceballos was more direct and forward-looking.

He will displace Elneny but did next to nothing after his debut brace of assists last season. Go for Soucek if you want a 5.0

The problem with Soucek is that so many people own him, as soon as he goes a few GWs without a goal his price is going to drop when they all sell. Also, I don't trust West Ham players in general.

Despite the perception that everyone owns him, Soucek is only 5.5% owned.

Thanks guys, I have the perception that Ceballos can be a more forward player with the ability to assist or even score a goal, I know Soucek could be an option, but I think I will go with Ceballos this week Over Soucek or Keita from Liverpool.

But if you have other options I'm all ears

I would lean to A as rumor is - he is on penalties.

Klich probably most safe pick and supposedly on penalties. I haven't seen Wolves game but if Podence did well besides his assist i'd be willing to take a punt on him, did well end of last season too and Wolves fixtures after City become great

You’d imagine so, providing they don’t sign someone, it’s a risk to being him in now given the window is open, but fine for this week you’d think

Obviously there’s a chance one of them plays.
And a chunk will be wildcards.

But I love the fact that 50,000 have bought Steer and Nyland this week already and Villa have gone and signed Martinez.

Issue is given I already have Steer, he now might drop before the international breaks when I may wildcard him out.
