Scoutcast Episode 344 – Manchester City and United players on the radar

Joe and Az are joined by 2014/15 Fantasy Premier League winner Simon March as they look ahead to Gameweek 2.

With Manchester City and United’s blank Gameweek 1 over, they are back in action this weekend. But which assets do we bring in and who makes way?

The Scoutcast team reveal how they plan to navigate an upcoming fixture run, with even more explosive heavy hitters vying for their attention.

Everton’s new-look midfield gets the once over from our Scoutcast trio, who are particularly impressed with the addition of 2014 World Cup hero James Rodriguez to orchestrate the Toffees’ attacking play.

He certainly passes the eye test and this latest episode also reveals the underlying statistics behind Everton’s renaissance.

Elsewhere, Chelsea options are considered, ahead of their kind fixture run from Gameweek 3. As a fan of the London side, Simon is particularly insightful about the options to bring in and how their defence may line up.

The crew look back at the lessons learned from their Gameweek 1 performance. Even though Simon shunned a certain expensive Liverpool penalty taker, he looks to have made good use of the spare cash he has available. Will Joe follow Simon’s risky strategy in Gameweek 2? He’s certainly tempted.

Next four fixtures come under scrutiny and the community’s roughest and smoothest scores get an airing.

Meanwhile, Az and Simon reveal a pair of intriguing differentials and the show finishes with the team’s transfer and captaincy plans for the second round of fixtures of 2020/21.

I want to keep Alli if he starts he has his chances to score but his price is falling tonight. The other one I could sell is Havertz.

Both were pretty Bad gw1 but out of those 2 I would definitely get rid of Alli.

Really depends on your wc strategy and current team If it's necessary to do before gw2 or later.

Personally would get rid of Alli now

Nah he's very much on the radar, in fact he's been in most WC squads on here. Richarlison is the one from Everton being slept on because of his price

I'll offer a few less-mentioned players to keep an eye on.

      Defence: Keane, Zouma
      Midfield: Mahrez, Doucoure, McGinn
      Forward: Maupay

Not a gooner & no idea if this is true, but I've heard a hypothesis that Arteta is more likely to play him against the bigger sides.

Theory being his work rate & ability to press from the front & energy.

Was he preferred over Lacazette in FA cup & CS ?

Again this is just gossip, no official quote.

Personally I'd steer clear but their fixtures turn after this GW so IF it is true he may start getting game time. Game time doesn't necessarily equate to points. Probably better options for not a lot more money IMO.

if there was a FREE to play *National League* Fantasy Football game which paid £20k to the winner, would you play it? (and subsequently watch more National League games?) or would you have no interest?

I'd play it and my interest would certainly increase, though I'm not sure it would extend to watching the games. I'd probably just stick a team in there and make a transfer on an hour of research every week

Istanbul. Weather’s very warm (25-30c), humid on some days. Covid situation isn’t great, certainly not here. Medical Association is complaining about the poor job the government is doing. Just need to be careful, really, do the right things and you’ll be fine. Where are you going on holiday?

Wow thanks! We're staying on the west coast, near Kusadasi, looking to visit Ephesus and Pamukkale. It's a shame to hear about the covid response, generally I've been reading that Turkey's putting up some good numbers. Then again I live in Manchester which is dragging the UK figures up... As for Turkey, I'd be delighted if places are still open for visiting tbh, preferably also with very few tourists

It’s lovely on the west coast. I’d guess the sites will be open (I’d check before you go) - great choices of places you’ve earmarked to visit, both are so impressive. Aspendos also well worth visiting, although it’s too much of a trek from where you are.

Yup, not as crowded with tourists as normal, but still quite a few around. Don’t bother getting much money changed before you go, you’ll get a much better rate at one of the local Xchange Offices (Döviz). Food’s great, booze is cheap, weather mighty fine, locals are really friendly. Have a great time!

Is it worth taking a hit on someone like vinagre before they drop in price ? Even if the replacement might only be benched or it only slightly strengthens the team ?

Its not worth it for a bench player. If Vinagre was a starter and you have no bench than probably but still don't like doing it.

It’s tricky one. I answered on one of similar posts.
For example - he drops from 4.5 to 4.4. You can only replace him for 4.0 with 1 transfer. It will take you 2 transfers to replace him with 4.5 or more. So, taking -4 before .1 drop might be good.

But there will be other defender available at 4.4 and good options elsewhere soon enough. At the beginning every 0.1 feels so apocalyptic cause it means you have to jump 0.5 up or down a price but it evens out eventually.

Also Justin will lose his place when Pereira is back. Get a long-term nailed 4.5 like KWP or possibly Lamptey (slight rotation risk but unlikely to permanently lose his place).

Looks decent. I wouldn't want to play Hendrik every week. I think that having 3 premium midfielders is too many. If you downgrade one of them you can improve your 4th mid and your bench.

Hendrick to Soucek, Hendrick has half of his annual season goals and assists already so don't expect much from him.

Honestly I hate it. James and Justin aren't nailed. Bench is weak. Hendrick is chasing points. And planning to do Aub to Salah is bad - just get Salah in now if you want him long term over Aubemayang.

    McCarthy, Martinez

    Werner, Martial, DCL

Is there anywhere I can improve?

      I would so these:

DCL > Jimi and play 4 at the back.

Mate, I wouldn’t go with A tbf (I might be wrong)
I can see on all your posts that you’re sold on him but he will be heavily rotated.
Isn’t it better to pick one that is on penalties (if he is).
I reckon Leeds might get at least 5-6 if not more + if he scores 2/3 and get few assists - Klitch might be a man.

Would you give another chance to Son and Havertz or sell them for a hit?

I had Alli so he's gone. Not sure what to do with Kai

I would definitely give them another chance. Well Son for sure, Havertz>James doesn't sound bad.

Pulled the trigger on Alli - days look numbered under Mou (said the opposite a week ago...)

Can only see James Rod at that price point and with the fixtures as being viable. Hope he will continue his chance creation to Richardson on the outside of WBA's back 3...

Also getting rid of Alli, didn't you fancy Greenwood for the same money ?

Don't think Greenwood stats is sustainable and fixtures aren't as good as Rod for next 4. Also Man U fixtures during Project Restart were amazing and think Man u were subsequently inflated.

At that price point I just bounce around every 4ish weeks for the next shiny thing which is J Rod right now.

May haul, and people will not have the funds to get him in without big changes.

Potential for big rank jumps for a week weeks if you can maintain some form.

Should I just keep this team for GW2 to save up for 2FT, or would you do any transfers now?

    McCarthy / Nyland
    TAA / Doherty / KWP / Douglas / Mitchell
    Auba / Salah / Son / ASM / Bissouma
    Werner / Ings / Davis

    Vinagre out before price drop

    Ayling or J Lewis, thoughts?

Justin has 1 good fixture before facing City and then post International break, Perreira due back, so ruled him out

    Adams Werner

I'm holding. Don't have the option to Rashford so there's no easy switch. If Havertz looks good, he is looking at wba CRY SOU in his next 3.

Surely that doesn't matter for you though because you can just get him back on GW3 WC.

I'm not fully committed to the GW3 wildcard. If Chelsea are good, I can get away without the WC. If I do Havertz out, I'm allin on the GW3 WC. Would rather keep my options open.
