£4.0m FPL defender Dunne makes first Premier League start in Tarkowski absence

The last of four Premier League matches to take place on Sunday is the late kick-off at the King Power Stadium, with Burnley the visitors to Leicester.

Play gets underway at 19:00 BST.

Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) is the most-owned player on show in this game, with almost one in four Fantasy Premier League managers owning the Leicester City striker.

He is part of an unchanged starting XI, with James Maddison (£7.0m) again having to be content with a place on the bench.

After blanking in Gameweek 1, Burnley finally get their 2020/21 league campaign off and running.

As was the case at the end of last season, the Clarets are down to the bare bones.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.5m) picked up an injury in midweek, joining Ashley Barnes (£6.0m), Ben Mee (£5.0m) and Jack Cork (£5.0m) on the sidelines.

James Tarkowski (£5.5m) has also failed to recover from a “bruised toe”, so budget FPL defender Jimmy Dunne (£4.0m) is handed his first-ever Premier League start.

Robbie Brady (£5.0m), rather than an ‘out of position’ Erik Pieters (£4.5m), gets the nod in Gudmundsson’s absence.

Nick Pope (£5.5m), the leading FPL points-scorer among goalkeepers last season, is between the posts and is the only Burnley asset who boasts a double-digit ownership.

No goalkeeper kept more clean sheets away from home than Pope (seven) in 2019/20, although six of them came against clubs who finished in the bottom half.

Vardy registered 17 attacking returns at home last season, which no other FPL forward could top.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Castagne, Ndidi, Soyuncu, Justin, Mendy, Ayoze Pérez, Tielemans, Praet, Barnes, Vardy.

Burnley XI: Pope, Bardsley, Long, Dunne, Taylor, Brady, Brownhill, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Rodríguez.

looks like last season's classic Ings / jimi / DCL trio may be favoured again

My GW1 team scored 82 points (largely thanks to Salah captaincy). WC for GW2 and scored 45 so far with two to play. My GW1 team would’ve scored 34 all out. Relatively happy with that.

There are some pretty high scorers this week so obvs it could’ve been better but you can’t have them all. I have DCL on my WC team but no spurs for example.

No, as he won’t hurt you too much as few will captain him and he is unlikely to get a hattrick or so, but he is good value

Fair enough, but you might be interested to know that Bruno has more passes received in the final third, 40, than any other midfielder in the league. And that's in only one match (!), when almost everybody else has played two. On the other hand, only 1 touch in the box wasn't a lot to write home about.
In the end, of course you might be right, but be careful with "not looking good" statements. That's what everybody was saying about Spurs this past week...

His underlying stats are extremely solid so far. 5 shots on target and 31 touches in the final third in only 117 minutes of play. He's a hold for me as upcoming fixtures are good. But I'm not sure I would buy him with other great options at Forward these days: DCL, Jimenez, Werner (playing WBA next). Kane has a great run of fixtures too.
But at his price range, underlying stats would say Mitro is a very solid option

    Ryan
    Walker-peters, Lascelles, Doherty, Dallas, Saliba
    Aubameyang, Salah, Ward-Prowse
    Mitrović, Kane, Vardy

    Bench: McCarthy, Saliba, Bissouma, McNeil

Thoughts? I've got 2xFT. I need to get rid of Saliba (4.4) , Bissouma (4.5).

Should I take a hit. Transfer out Vardy for cash to upgrade them?

I'm not interested in him anymore as long as we don't see any evidence of him moving back to his previous position when VDB is in the team. 10.5 is too much for someone who plays as one of the 2 mids in 4-2-3-1.

      1. Big boy Bowen
        • 7 Years

Will VDB start most games, is there a chance VDB plays in the pivot instead?

He was playing attacking mid at Ajax and that's where he played when he came in with Bruno moving to Pogba's position.

I'm not sure if he'll start most games but Pogba didn't look very good so VDB might get a lot of minutes. Re. positioning, I don't know, it could change of course but I'd rather wait and see. MUN fixtures aren't very good anyway for a while.

Ok, only reason I’m suggesting this is it would be quite moronic and bizarre to change where Bruno predominantly plays given how effective he was there last season.
            Just food for thought

Assuming Ziyech and Pulisic isn't back by then, I think Chelsea is lacking creativity so I'm not so sure about captaining anymore. Going with KDB or Sterling might be a better option.

    2. Danstoke82
      • 9 Years

I’m not sure. I don’t think we can really gauge Werner until Pulisic and Ziyech are back which will hopefully stop Werner from drifting out wide and stop Lampard playing him there. I’m really not sure what to do with Werner as I want DCL- Jimenez plus a strong midfield.

    Draft for my WC:

    Guaita-Ryan
    mitchell - digne - lamprey - VVD - castagne
    Son - Zaha - Rodriguez - KDB - Costa
    Werner - Mitrovic - DCL

    ItB: 0.9

    my doubts:
    1) werner vs WBA or Jimenez for long plan?
    2) GW4 --> Werner out - Jimmy in?
    3) guaita-ryan for rotation or ryan-martinez/McCarthy for rotation?
    4) son or fernandes?
    5) castagne or james?

    any other suggestions?

Just watched Spurs-SOU highlights and learned two things in addition to the internet's recency bias rearing it's ugly head again (against Son, in this case):
    1. Kyle Walker-Peters is a shockingly bad defender. Needs to be shipped immediately. He just let Son run completely free all game. (Were they roommates at Spurs or something?)
    2. Che Adams is amazingly good at blasting wide open shots directly at the goal keeper
