Traoré up against Mendy as Wolves host Man City in Gameweek 2

Adama Traoré (£6.5m) remains in a wing-back role for Wolves as they host Manchester City, his favourite team to face last season.

In two meetings against Pep Guardiola’s men, the FPL midfielder registered three goals, one assist and six bonus – all for a total of 29 points.

That accounted for 22.3% of his 130 points across the whole of last season, no Premier League offering up more Fantasy fuel to Traoré than Manchester City.

He might be fancying his chances once again this time around, as the wing-back will have the chance to double-up with right-winger Daniel Podence (£5.5m) on adventurous left-back Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m).

Pedro Neto (£5.5m) staffs the other side of Wolves’ front-three, joined there by talismanic forward Raúl Jiménez (£8.5m).

With Manchester City losing a number of key personnel to injury, Guardiola’s latest line-up was easier than normal to predict.

Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) leads the line in the absence of Sergio Aguero (£10.5m) while Phil Foden (£6.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) make use of Bernardo Silva‘s (£7.5m) muscle problem to start on the left and right-hand side of the front-three.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m) and Joao Cancelo (£5.5m) are out with muscle and foot injuries respectively, hence the start for Mendy, while Aymeric Laporte‘s (£6.0m) red flag means Nathan Aké (£5.5m) makes his Premier League debut next to John Stones (£5.0m).

Owned by 33% of FPL managers worldwide, Kevin De Bruyne (£11.5m) is this game’s most popular asset, as he makes an expected start in central midfield.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m) on the chopping board for many of us, all eyes will be on how the Belgian compares with Sterling tonight.

The last time Manchester City visited Molineux, the Englishman scored twice while De Bruyne failed to match up, mustering just one assist and no goals…

Wolves XI (3-4-3): Patrício; Saïss, Coady, Boly; Marçal, Neves, Moutinho, Traoré; Neto, Jiménez, Podence.

Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Mendy, Aké, Stones, Walker; Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Fernandinho; Foden, Jesus, Sterling.

    Would you WC?

Ones marked with * could be out

    McCarthy*/Steer
    TAA*/Davies*/Vinagre*/Justin/Mitchell
    Auba*/Salah/Bruno*/ASM*/Bissouma*
    Werner*/DCL/Brewster*

-McCarthy had a shocker but it isn't crucial for him to be gone.
-TAA is expensive, doesnt need to be gone but probably should be gone when wildcard is activated - can keep at the moment.
-Vinagre, hes gonna be in and out of the team. I think you have enough cover to avoid wildcarding.
-Davies is fine at the moment, Reguilon wont be in the side till after the internationals same as Bale i think.
-Auba ... The only arsenal assest whos fixture proof. 12m is a lot though and you can definitley spread the money better.
-Bruno ... its 1 game week for united, dont knee jerk.
      -ASM ... yeah.
-Bissouma ... 3 match ban annoying but if you have 11 starters its not essentiall to get rid.
-Werner ... give the man time.
-Brewster ... dead weight unless he moves.

I don't think you need to Wildcard. Take a -4 and Get rid of Aubameyang and ASM.

Rash + Jimi to Kdb and wood (-8)

Wood may match Jimi, both have nice fixtures,
KDB v Rash is not debate

    Gives me this
    Mesiler
    Keane TAA Saiss Ayling
    KDB (C) Sterling Salah Hamez
    DCL Wood

Yep, could go sideways for Sterling to KDB instead.

Wood also has some lovely fixtures.

Ultimately I like having 2 to 3 of DCL, Wood and antonio for the season based on value and stats.

Not sure if the midfield is too expensive. Nice captain options for Liverpool against cannon fodder and city capt rotation for home and away

FT transfer was Auba to Salah yesterday before his price rise

-8 not terrible at times, have worked for me in the past. KDB would be the easiest player to justify such a hit.

General consensus is that Foden/Torres/Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling, KDB, Bernardo will not match the heights of Sane, Sterling, Aguero, KDB, D. Silva of 17/18 right?

  13. F_Ivanovic
    • 8 Years

Too many players I want but I don't know if I can justify a WC just yet. Everton + Wolves players lacking from my team (really like the look of Rodriguez and Podence) but at the same time I don't know if I can justify a hit either to get them in.

Yup. Semedo will play RWB and Podence and Neto will rotate.

Also Wolves will play 3-5-2 in many games with Dedoncker instead of Podence/Neto with Traore and Jimenez upfront.

And there is new guy Fabio Silva also. I would avoid

Nothing wrong with Son out, I had him this week as well but there is too much risk with Moura/Lamela/Bale/Bergwijn and Mourinho's unpredictability now. I am taking a gamble on Auba/KDB not being tooooo much difference next week so I will have made my mind up vs Leeds GW4.

Im trying to take a longer term view. Ultimately i agree, i see both KDB and Sterling as both potentially in a best 11 fpl team come year in. So wouldnt like to make that sideways move.

Jimi to wood is an interesting one. Wood is clearly underpriced and someone id like longer term ( had planned to get him gw 4 already) but this may just kill 2 birds with one stone

You answered it yourself. Despite the goals their attacking numbers are very poor.

You could argue he is still value for 9.0 but id much rather a Sterling + Podence, than a Son + Zaha.

I feel like Sterling will explode at some point, and not sure double Eve worth it, Leeds atm look like they can score against anyone. Zaha is a Striker with good fixtures (but playing for a not so offensive team).

          Just my opinion tho.

I dont understand why people are generally against big in midfield

Past few years multiple big options would have been best template set and forget team

    Salah KDB Mane last year
    Hazard Sterling Salah before
Sanchez Salah Sterling 2 years ago

I may just roll with Salah KDB Sterling this year and maximize the City attack.

Because it messes up the team balance and makes it harder to get the rest of the team right.

But each year the best 11 still has it. Just matters to find those underpriced type players ( Hamez DCL potentially and more).

Pulisic back next week do we think?

WBA = most big chances in the league conceded (8), joint most goal attempts in box conceded (24), worst xG conceded (6.8, next worst is 4.5)

Werner the 3rd most transferred out player in the game ahead of it!

Stats can be misleading sometimes. Chelsea have looked awful recently
