The latest content and updates from the Scout Network

It has been a busy week in the Scout Network as content creators around the world turn their attentions to Gameweek 3.

Every week, we bring you all the updates from those enlisted in the Scout Network and Scout Academy.

This features anything you may have missed, as well as an in-depth look at one of the Scout Network’s key personnel.

Ahead of Gameweek 3, the spotlight falls on a recent addition to the network: Mini League Mate.

SCOUT NETWORK

We Are Brighton

We Are Brighton’s partnership with Fantasy Football Scout has been working wonders this season. After tipping Leandro Trossard (£6.0m) and Tariq Lamptey (£4.5m) ahead of their attacking involvements in the Seagulls’ Gameweek 1 defeat to Chelsea, their key Brighton assets for Gameweek 2 were Lewis Dunk (£5.0m) and Adam Webster (£4.5m). The two centre-backs both kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win at Newcastle, Dunk stealing a bonus point too. There will be a new FFS Brighton article over on the We Are Brighton website ahead of every Gameweek this season.

FPLNymfria

Nymfria featured on Glen Kightley’s YouTube Channel – Everything Arsenal.  She celebrated passing 4,000 subscribers on YouTube last week. Nymfria will be live again on Thursday with her Dream Team Stream, and will host the next FPL Wildcats stream, which features FPL Dave.

FPL Family

The FPL Family broke their record for most-watched live stream last weekend, which has so far been viewed over 32,000 times. They have also been recording episodes of Sam v Lee – The Points Predictor, for the FFScout YouTube channel again. Each week they each choose a defender, midfielder and forward to see which will return the most points. This season one of them will pick a team of highly owned (over 10%) players each round and the other a team of differentials (under 10%).

Ted Talks FPL

Ted has updated his fixture difficulty charts and investigated average positions of a number of key players

El Statto

This week El Statto launched a new partnership with stats provider FPLDackel which has enabled him to update his website.

Fantasy Chat with Karam Tayser

Fantasy Chat reached a new milestone of 2,500 YouTube subscribers last week, excellent growth in its first three weeks.

FPL Take The Hit

Mick and Joff have been busy discussing whether or not to take hits this week as Wildcards loom large for the Fantasy community.

SCOUT ACADEMY

The boys at Americans Talk FPL officially joined Twitter this week. They also added a Player Spotlight section to their weekly videos to enable them to dive deeper in to their top watchlist players.

David from FPL In The Dug Out collaborated with Sam Bonfield on the role of the Dream Team in FPL, which has now had over 5,000 views. Much like American’s Talk FPL, FPL In The Dugout also launched their twitter platform

Meanwhile FPL Talkings Points have just launched a new interactive map feature on their website so that FPL players from around the world can connect with content creators near them geographically. This map will include the content from members of the Scout Academy and the Scout Network.

Spotlight: Mini League Mate

Mini League Mate is a service that focuses on one of the most important parts of FPL: winning your Mini Leagues!

Mini League Mate gives a weekly data update on your leagues, including points scored and other key developments.

This service is divided in to two parts. Firstly the ‘Deadline Day’ mail. This is an email sent straight after the Gameweek deadline passes and ahead of kick-off in the opening fixture of the round.

The mail allows you to see exactly how each member of your Mini League has lined up for the Gameweek, including information on the most transferred-in and transferred-out options, most captained and average starting XI/formation.

At the end of the Gameweek’s final match, Mini League Mate then emails out ‘The Dossier’, a stat-packed breakdown featuring whose captain picks came off, whose did not, and how to plot through subsequent rounds.

The Dossier also contains charts and statistics such as:

  • Leaderboard Deep Dive
  • Mini-League vs the world
  • Points breakdown
  • Manager of the week
  • Biggest riser and faller
  • Best players in the league this Gameweek
  • Best and worst transfers made
  • Bandwagons
  • Squad value tracker
  • Chip tracker
  • Mini League template team and more

One of the great things about Mini League Mate is not everyone needs to sign up. The Deadline Day mail and The Dossier can be shared throughout the league via email, social media, messaging services. Alternatively, you can keep this detailed information to yourself.

If you have a cool tool that you’d like to share with the world, a social or video channel that you’d like to work with us to grow and monetise, some amazing tech skills you’d like to contribute, or just some great insight that you need to share, we want to hear from you!

I was just thinking that by getting Thiago Liverpool will improve possession and thus defence.

They should have conceded on Sunday (from the penalty), and that was during the most comfortable half of football they’ll have all season. All about staying Switched on, rather than possession.

Yes I know, I watched the game. Not owning Liverpool defenders and Werner not getting points costed me at least 10p

I actually saw both Chelsea games but the first one just the second half. And he was subbed in the second half vs Liverpool so I dont have some strong opinion on him. I thought there are some Chelsea fans on here who analysed him better than I did. But ye I dont have the time to watch all the games unfortunatelly 🙂

Once Ziyech and Pulisic are fit and the front 4 have clicked, he'll likely explode. Could be this weekend with a bit of luck, probably a couple of games later.

Jamie Carragher made interesting point couple days ago that Havertz is great no.10 and there's where he should play, yet he was thrown on the wing in BRI game and then at false 9 against LIV. Lampard have used 4-3-3 system most of the time last season and in it there's no place for Havertz really, I guess Chelsea playing sort of 4-2-3-1 against BRI was a sign of transition to that system of play but it might take time for them to learn it.

I would advice to wait and see with Kai, there are better, well-known options at the moment in FPL.

    Morning folks

Can I get an opinion on the following WC draft?

    Martinez/ Steer

    Lamptey, James, Mitchell, Saiss, TAA

    Foden, Salah, KDB, Podence, Bissouma

    DCL Jesus Jimenez

My big question is whether Jesus is a better option than Werner

    1. JONALDINHO
      • 6 Years

Like Jesus pick but don’t like James. Chelsea defence shaky and he’s not scoring screamers every week

      1. CostaCoffee

But he is delivering lethal crosses week in week out, when we're not playing Liverpool that is

Could backfire. Werners looked sharp so far and could do damage against WBA. Also I've just never rated Jesus as a footballer, but he does get plenty of clear cut chances every game so could easily outscore Werner

Do you like Jesus over Werner? Chelsea defence should improve with Mendy in the side. James' underlying stats are great. He might not score a screamer every week but he likes to have the odd shot on goal and his assist potential is great

        1. JONALDINHO

For me I’d try get Sterling over Jesus by downgrading the defence a bit. Jesus is better long term than Werner but I’d fancy him against wba this week

Excellent. The Werner, Jesus (v Son too perhaps) is a tricky one. Inclined to roll the dice on Jesus. City's attack is incredible and they've been settled for years, doing it for years

    Midfield of
    A) Salah + KDB+ Son+ Hamez+4.5 (Current squad)

or take a -4 and get,
    B) Salah + KDB+ Hamez+ Foden+Podence

Think i need more city and wolves players for their good fixtures. Thoughts? is the change worth the -4 .

Going to make a conscious effort to not look at rival's teams this season. Am sure the urge to get Son in would be greater if I actually saw 24 points in their team(s).

My rival buddy barely puts any effort into this, but he beat me in a breeze last season, despite what I thought were some crazy decisions. This season already he's shot ahead of me with Son, Mitrovic and DCL. I mocked him for his choices. Perhaps I should be looking at his team and copying him more.

One feature touched upon in FPL Wire is that we become a bit too consumed by the game, overloaded with too much info and overthink and so when a so called "casual" has the clarity of mind to think clearly and concisely they're often more effective, certainly in the shorter term

        1. Deulofail
          • 8 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

Yeah it's hard to sift through the noise, but I actually played more casually last season and made decisions based on watching games and highlights. Rival basically just watches Chelsea and logs in to make transfers twice a month. It's a nightmare! 😆

I never look at rivals, not even if there are 1-2 gws left. Do what you think is best for your team and you'll end up better than copying someone else

    Is this worth WC?

    McCarthy
    Trent • Taylor • Vinagre • Mitchell
    Salah • KDB • Mane
    Werner • Mitro • Adams 1FT
    (4.0 / Justin / 4.5 / 4.5)

Would like another week of info and the fact Werner is against wba. Thoughts?

    Off topic

Some Second World War dramas to binge on with lockdown and autumn brewing

Generation War - 5 parter that was on Netflix but now on Dailymotion. Set on the Eastern Front from the German perspective. This tops Band of Brothers imho. Just switch the subs on

World on Fire BBC - came out last year. Haven't watched all the way through, but was excellent

Life and Fate - Amazon Prime - hold on that Prime account for a bit longer. Stumbled upon this earlier and so far is fantastic. Eastern Front and Stalingrad emphasis, but this time from the viewpoint of the Soviets

Not so much Second World War but have heard the Ken Burns ten part Vietnam War documentary is one of the best ever created...

Was on Netflix until recently but was removed, will definitely have to watch it next time it is added.

I found that to be very frustrating. And seems to be the model for all Netflix docs nowadays: taking heads which back up one side of the story 10-1, stitching interviews together thematically instead of forming a more accessible, chronological and objective narrative for the audience to follow. It's an attempt to access the more human side of stories but I'd rather hear experts tell me how things are, following all the voids left by lay people's rambling personal perspective, and use interviews to give weight to the actual story rather than as endless material to make a series out of what could be a single feature-length film, or otherwise could have much more information and engagement per minute. Hmm seems I'm more passionate about it that I realised. Good doc. 6/10

I dearly recommend the movies Glory(civil war) and Enemy at the gates(Stalingrad)

And for reading my alltime favourite on that subject, I escaped from Auschwitz by Rudolph Vrba. Never gonna read a better detailed true story book about the matter I guarantee!

    Mini-leagues Update, GW2:

FFS Head-to-Head leagues (https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/head-to-head-leagues/): Over eight thousand FPL managers have now been allocated to appropriate twenty-team Divisions within a pyramid structure of nine Leagues. Six managers in League 1 have started with two wins, the highest ranked being Simon Vazquez at 8,973rd overall after he captained Son Heung-Min and also owned Harry Kane for a game-week score of 106 (less a 4 point hit). Simon, in his 10th FPL season, is 141st in the FFS Career Hall of Fame, with two finishes in the top 200.

The FFS Community Members mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/584/standings/c) (code available on Members page) is open to anyone who has registered an FFS account, paid or free. The new leader is Moataz Zuz, who is 161st overall after triple captaining Mo Salah for 101 points in GW1 and then playing his Bench Boost for 106 in GW2, with double-digit contributions from Son, Calvert-Lewin, Zaha, Mitrovic and Rodriguez. This is his first FPL season.

The Fantasy Football Scout mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/111864/standings/c) (code: 5u05vz) is open to all. The new leader is Hossam Ahmed, who is 218th overall but only 44th in Egypt after playing his wildcard and scoring 107, with double-digit contributions from Son, Calvert-Lewin, Bamford, Mitrovic and Rodriguez. This is his 4th FPL season, his best previous finish being 122k last season.

TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/33020/standings/c) (code: 48n69x) will be open to anyone who has passed all previous safety scores until GW18. The safety score for GW2 was 34 and at least 187 managers were eliminated.

My Top 10k Any Season mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/348/standings/c) (new code: 8kcvzq) is for teams that have finished the season in the top 10,000 at least once. New leader Caslav Savic is 4,722nd overall. This is his 9th FPL season, finishing 9,704th in 2014/15.

PDM’s Top 1k ANY season mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/40728/standings/c) (code: 2agvvx) is for teams with at least one top 1,000 finish. Martin Cuttler still leads but has slipped to 8,018th overall; Simon Vazquez is now level with him on points but has made 2 transfers compared with none for Martin.

Chaballer’s Top 1k Hall of Fame mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/74508/standings/c) (code: mr8dyh) is for teams in the top 1,000 of the FFS Career Hall of Fame. Henry Rawlins is the new leader and is 17,109th overall. In his 14th FPL season, Henry is 233rd in our Hall of Fame with four top 10k finishes, the best of which was 117th in 2014/15.

The Fantasy Football Scout Network mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/693919/standings/c) is for the Scout Network, which includes the Pro Pundits. Raymie Equi (FPL Talking Points) is the new leader and 55,336th overall. This is his 7th FPL season, finishing 3,042nd last season.

The FFS Mods & Cons mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/581/standings/c) is for FFS Moderators and Contributors. Chris Atkinson (RMT’s Professor) is the new leader and 62,615th overall. This is Chris’s 12th FPL season, with four top 10k finishes, the best of which was 61st in 2010/11.

Skooldaze’s FPL Vets mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/440874/standings/c) is for veterans who have been playing FPL since 2006 or even earlier. Baz Zahathevan is the new leader at 166k overall. His best finish was 1,361st in 2006/07.

Simon March’s FPL Champions League (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/1367/standings/c) is for former FPL Champions. 2017/18 champion Yusuf Sheikh is the new leader at 175k overall.

My Multiple Top 10k Finishes mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/473582/standings/c) (code: 8t42p6) is for teams with two or more top 10,000 finishes. Matthew Bigley is the new leader at 255k overall. This is his 9th FPL season, with two top 3k finishes. Emil Gustafsson is level with him on points but has made 2 transfers while Matthew has made none.

Greyhead’s The Next Great and The Good mini-league (https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues/143783/standings/c) is now closed to new entrants. Rami Sameh is the new leader and 9,079th overall (1,796th in Egypt). This is only his second FPL season. There are currently 228 Egyptians in the top thousand and 1,968 in the top 10k, including the current world number one, compared with only 156 and 1,930 respectively from England. This is probably because FPL has become extremely popular in Egypt ever since Salah joined Liverpool, and many Egyptians probably captained him in GW1; some of them have also been deploying early chips.

Let's get this out in the open. There are so many Egyptians in the top 1k because they are MULTI TEAM CHEATERS.

There are many huge mini leagues full of multi-teams.

How would you finish off this WC team?

    Martinez, Steer

    TAA, Saiss, Taylor, Lamptey, Mitchell

    Salah, KDB, Son, ______, ______

    Jimi, DCL ______

    17.9 ITB

I'm thinking steer clear of Podence if the Costa transfer has legs.

Also don't want Foden unless I have a decent option to fill in from the bench.

    Currently on: Zaha, Anguissa, Mitro

A- Burke (started up front recently for SU)
    B- Vinagre following Marcela injury
C- Take a -4 of ASM to Podence and start him

Anyone considering Crystal Palace players for their nice run of fixtures till January? Currently on Zaha and Guaita
Zaha is hitting some fine form, Guaita an option or any other palace defenders?
Or is it mad to include two palace players in a wildcard squad?

    1. NielsvanDelft

If zaha stays playing up top he’s a hell of an option. Palace defence is always solid too. Nothing wrong with including 2 of them imo.

Yeah, would really like to give Zaha a chance for the upcoming fixtures. When Palace scores, he will most likely be involved. Can easily swap him out for other options at that price point aswell.

    0.3ITB
    Martinez / Steer
    TAA / Saiss / James / Justin / Mitchell
    Salah / KDB / Son / Foden / Podence
    DCL / Jimi / Brewster

Think i might regret going Werner-less but dont know how i find the 0.6m to upgrade him for Jimi once he drops tonight

It's not for the season. For the next few games, double Wolves defense can get you a big lead. They have one of the best defenses.

Meh. With this Semedo signing I'm slightly less keen on Podence.

    Pondering some more wildcard options...

    A) Boly + Havertz
    B) Robertson + Wood
    C) Werner + Ayling

Havertz to STAY on wildcard? Is this mad? He allows a straight swap to Pulisic or Ziyech with ease, differential status now. His past stats are really really good and I don't know why I keep doing this...

Here is an interesting question -

Scenario- I took a 4 point hit to bring in a player last week, which in hindsight I should have brought in this week.

I have taken a 12 point hit this week to bring some more players in this week and am generally happy with my squad.

Question - should I play the wildcard to remove the 12 point hit. What annoys me is that I should have delayed last weeks transfer into this week as it would have given me a benefit of regaining 16 points by playing the wildcard.

    Any thoughts or comments please

In other words, what is the effective benefit of me using the wildcard? 8, 12 or 16 points ?

Im not on a wildcard but looking to bring one of those. Jimenez for now, proven FPL asset, scored in the first two games and the best run of fixtures in the next 5.
