Scout Network

Two more names join the growing Scout Nework

We are delighted to welcome both Transfer Algorithm and FPL Poker Player to the Scout Network.

These new entries are just two of many content creators doing great work for the Fantasy Premier League community this season.

You can read more about what they are getting up to in our weekly Scout Network round-ups.

Transfer Algorithm is a personal project by creator Tor Mikkel Tokvamm which uses underlying data to determine expected FPL points and value within the budget restraints for his team.

This fast-growing tool uses over a dozen key statistics to consider each potential player, considering both recent and historic form.

Some of the metrics that the Transfer Algorithm draws on are minutes played, big chances, goal attempts, chances created, shots, key passes and touches.

By combining these data points with fixture ratings alongside the budget and pricing restraints the algorithm is then able to rank players in tables by play position.

The Transfer Algorithm is also able to consider individual fixtures to generate a weekly captain calculator to help managers make the best captain choices.

You can find Transfer Algorithm over on Patreon by CLICKING HERE.

FPL Poker Player can be found both on Twitter, as well as on his website.

He uses the skills and tricks of Poker in an FPL setting. By applying the transferable skills of things such as expected value and probability to FPL, FPL Poker Player creates tables which inform the planning and decision making for Fantasy managers.

The tables make use of score predictions, clean sheet probability, expected goals and other factors to work out the xFPL points for the coming Gameweeks.

FPL Poker Player’s view, much like that of many other FPL managers, is that, much like his favourite card game, sometimes you have to go all-in.

And if you like Poker analogies, stay tuned for an excellent Pro Pundit article by former FPL world champion Simon March very soon…

It does look good and the risks of Bamford, Foden, Podence are backed up by a good bench. People will say they don't like it with too much money on the bench but I love it!

agreed, i do like rinseboys idea of downgrading bamford tho, leeds fixtures are pretty tough too, and am i likely to play him?

You've got a benching headache. I'd pick one attacker you want out and go for Brewster/Davis/Anguissa and then upgrade elsewhere. If I was you, I'd go Hamez to Son and Bamford to Brewster.

      Great team!
Only thing I'd point out is having 8 playable attackers.
Personally, attacking rotation never worked out for me.
I would downgrade either Bamford or Podence to fodder and bank the cash for future use.

Also, You could start with Jesus and then switch him to Jimi after a couple brilliant fixtures for Jesus.
      Jiminez rarely hauls.
Jesus could get double digits in the next 2.

I like it. Template for this week, but thinks change rapidly so who knows long term. Think Robertson & trent double up is the one long term.

People who have been playing FPL since a long time..
I was checking Vale's history and he had massive 50 Bonus points in his last season.

Was the bps system around by then? Or was it based on some panel's decision on who the best 3 players were in a match ?

When did they change to an automated way of calculation of BPS?

    1. FPL_Hazards
      • 11 Years

It was man in stand bonus points in Bale’s day. Changed 3 or 4 seasons ago to BPS.

Im 90% sure there was bonus points system. It was my first or second season and I have always played with bps

      1. Sanchit

        I'm sure there wasn't!
Remember Charlie Adams playing for Blackpool? Blackpool would lose without scoring and Charlie Adams would still get 3 bonus points!

I googled and found the 2012/2013 winners (Matt Martyniak, familiar name) article.
This is in the article: "You have to look at which players are going to attract bonus points, those who shoot on target more, dribble more. Such as Jose Enrique, the Liverpool left back, who likes to dribble."

They changed it from the 2011/2012 season.
Before that it was 'man In the stand'

I'm done and dusted with...reverted back to my old team after fiddling with Son and Werner, but happy to move forward with this team, and .7itb to allow for a little wiggle.

    Ryan
    TAA Robertson Saiss
    Salah KDB Barnes Podence
    Jiminez Calvert-Lewin Wood

    Forster; Anguissa, Lamptey, Ferguson

Cheers all, I may be in for a rough first WC week if Son/Chelsea explode.

Best 7m midfield option? Deciding between Mount, Barnes and Zaha (but open to other options?).

Current thinking is Mount this week v WBrom and then move him on for Barnes for his upcoming fixtures post City.

    Team below:

    McCarthy
    VVD Saiss Digne
    Salah KDB Son Mount Podence
    DCL Jimenez

    Steer KWP Mitchell Brewster

Any other thoughts would be much appreciated!

    Which to go with?
    A:
    Ryan (Nyland)
Digne / Taylor / Saiss (Castagne / Justin)
    Son / KDB / James R / Salah / (Podence)
    Jimenez / DCL / (Brewster)

    B:
    Ryan (Nyland)
Digne / Taylor / Saiss (Castagne / Justin)
    Son / KDB / James R / Zaha / (Podence)
    Jimenez / DCL / Werner
Werner > Jesus after this GW

    How’s she looking on WC:

    Martínez
    VVD Justin Taylor
    KDB Salah Son Podence
    Jesus DCL Jiminez

    Steer Burke Mitchell Dunne

    Last decision for me:

    A) VVD + Jesus
    B) Lamptey + Sterling

Either way I’m going super light on defence

    1. schlupptheweek
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

A will likely score more points and with KDB and Salah you don't need Sterling unless you captain him. The bench might need an upgrade of Dunne to a 4.5 but then you'd have to sacrifice Son, Jiminez. Jesus or DCL so I'd stick with it because it looks very good but slightly risky.

    2) Grealish
    3) Zaha
    4) Hamez

Daft going Jiminez instead of DCL? No way DCL keeps up that form. Actually considering no Everton

Certainly not daft, best way forward imo

Remember Vardy last season just kept on going?

Vardy is a fantastic player though. DCL I’m not so sure

I’m no Everton since day 1. Can’t bring myself to trust them.

    5.0 Goalies

Id love to hear your thoughts, I like Guaita, but will Palace be solid for a while? or maybe Leno, Pickford, Ramsdale?

Anyone brave enough to captain Timo instead of KDB?

Going Salah myself. Liverpool love scoring against Arsenal.

Still playing him. With Mahrez and Torres playing, it doesn't change anything for me.

It helps that he cam play as one of the front 3, or one of the midfield 3 / no. 10.

Been watching Spuds first half but got no skin in that game. City kids kicking off - I'm sticking with that match.
