Pro Pundits - Darren

Why I’m lining up for FPL Gameweek 3 without any Chelsea players

A Fantasy Premier League veteran of 11 years, Darren Wiles has an incredible track record with three top 1k finishes in the last four seasons.

With so many favourable match-ups in Gameweek 3, I am feeling confident about the next round of Fantasy Premier League.

It has been a positive start thus far, anyway, with 80 and 90-point hauls in the first two Gameweeks taking me to a total of 170 and an overall rank of 29k.

The goals have been flying in so far and I have been lucky enough to capitalise on the early glut of double-digit returns. But all of that is in the past, and it’s what happens this weekend that matters now.

Here is what my team looks like for Gameweek 3 and the reasons behind some key decisions.

    Martinez
    Trent - Saiss - James
    KDB - Sterling - Foden - Podence
    Jimenez - Werner - DCL

    Forster - Burke - Mitchell - Ferguson

      Bench is very very weak.

But it's got a very strong XI overall. I like it as long as you're an aggressive, proactive manager unafraid of taking hits to cover absentees.

Don't you agree that Everton's upcoming fixtures aren't as good as many think?

Palace is solid this season, Brighton is always better away, then Liverpool.

I'm on WC and really consider Ings over Everton strikers as his next 3 fixtures seems easier. Easy to swap afterwards.

Everton have looked great, but James Rodriguez if not one gets close is utter class. The question for me is how soon/how often teams make his life harder. If they can shut him down, Everton's goals dry up. But will they? Palace is their first test. If this is 3-0 Everton, well.

Which to captain and more importantly why?

    A) Salah
    B) KDB
    C) Son
    D) Werner

Son - feel like he got his major haul last week, risk his minutes are managed given fixtures congestion & Newcastle will defend deep in large numbers

Werner - away game. Chelsea not convinced yet and main supply lines in Pulisic and Ziyech are out. Yet to score a premier league goal - but West Brom are abysmal and Werner is Chelsea main attacking outlet

Salah & KDB - both proven point machines both at home. Leicester with Ndidi out seems more appealing.

So I’m currently on KDB (head) but I’d love to be convinced to captain Werner (heart)

I would exclude Son as he plays for the least trustworthy attack and Salah because he has the worst fixture.

Which leaves KDB vs Werner. Werner has the better fixture, KDB is the better player and an established quantity in FPL terms. Depends which of those qualities you favour in a captain.

Just have a feeling that McCarthy could be dropped.

Would be shrewd, but not surely a manager don't usually chop and change gk's unless really required.

Pep claimed he was g2g. I'm having doubts if I should switch to sterling, am on WC.
      Would lose 0.1 though

No doubt KDB is the better option long term IMO but if on WC it’s a tough one
