Everton unchanged as Eze makes first Premier League start for Palace

Carlo Ancelotti has named an unchanged side for Everton as they travel to Crystal Palace in Gameweek 3.

The Toffees’ key players have been highly sought-after in the transfer market over the last seven days; hardly a surprise given that Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.3m) already has four goals in two matches.

The mid-priced forward arrives at Selhurst Park currently sat in 27.5% of Fantasy Premier League squads, the most of any Everton asset.

James Rodríguez (£7.6m) is not far behind his colleague. Following his 12-point haul against West Bromwich Albion, the Colombian is now owned by 25.1% of Fantasy managers.

Richarlison (£8.0m) is currently the slight differential in attack, currently sat in 11.4% of Fantasy squads for Gameweek 3.

There is also plenty of interest in an Everton clean sheet today, as 14.1% have hold of Lucas Digne (£6.1m). The left-back was unfortunate to blank in Gameweek 2, hitting the crossbar and targetted by more final-third passes than any colleague against the Baggies.

While the majority of the Fantasy community will be siding with the visitors today, Crystal Palace are hardly short of support.

After finding the net three times in the opening two matches of the season, Wilfried Zaha (£7.1m) has already accrued 17% ownership. With Luka Milivojevic (£5.9m) still on the Palace bench, the out-of-position FPL midfielder, deployed as a centre-forward once again, may get another chance at spot-kick duties for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, 24.4% of Fantasy managers remain invested in Tyrick Mitchell (£4.1m), who is yet to register a blank this season. The young left-back kept a clean sheet in his last Premier League outing at Selhurst Park, and provided a Fantasy assist when Palace won 3-1 at Old Trafford last weekend.

There will be plenty of interest from Palace fans and neutrals alike as Eberechi Eze (£6.0m) makes his first league start for his new club. The former QPR man has been restricted to substitute appearances in the Premier League thus far, but replaces Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.5m) on the left-hand side of midfield in Gameweek 3.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita; Mitchell, Sakho, Kouyaté, J Ward; Eze, McArthur, McCarthy, Townsend; Zaha, Ayew.

Everton XI (4-3-3): Pickford; Digne, Keane, Mina, Coleman; Allan, Gomes, Doucouré; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Rodríguez.

Son could be in triple captain territory next GW.

AWBs awareness of what’s behind him and his positioning in them situations is awful, Brighton could have scored 5 from the LW spot.

Spurs are not a good attacking team

Son will never score 4 goals again.

Spurs wont score 5 again in the PL this year.

You need to back teams with consistent stats. Spurs last week was random variance driven by crazy soton defending.

Its never going to happen again.

More likely City , Liverpool or Chelsea who have longterm proven ability to create and score multiple goals per match will be the most likely team to get 5+ goals

Nope, spurs have terrible underlying creative stats. Middle of the pack for PL.

Son maybe decent ish pick based on price, but never a triple captain choice in a random gameweek.

What an appalling example for Man U and the Prem to be setting for refs and games down the country and the world. When does the game end? Can the game be rewound for every decision for as long as you can keep the two teams there? There's going to be so much more harassment for refs at semi-pro and amateur games now. Absolutely disgusting record and a shambles of a club. Hope to god that they lose out on the top 4 this year.

I played my wildcard last week and, 1 game in, I actually still like my team but I'm starting to think I should have targeted penalty takers.

Something like Salah, KDB, Zaha, Klich, Maupay, Ings Jimenez should do well this season.

As a Rashford owner, who is firmly anti Bruno (overpriced and only pens) the last minute pen make be decent longterm

Keeps Rashford low profile , people with Bruno will keep longer term.

Still think people are sleeping on Rashford, he was CF in and out at times today and was a few cm from a 15+ point haul , on a bad united performance

the only reason of having Bruno in your team is pens, just pens, nothing else.

i mean from an FPL POV, amazing, but irl that just makes him look bad as a player, I hope he can start commanding plays like he did post restart, not a UTD fan but looking at a club with such a history playing like this is sad.

How can people be so confused about the penalty being given after the whistle was blown?

You can't compare it to pre-VAR for a start, absolutely pointless comparison. The ref blew the whistle because time was up. Yes, correct. However, the ref had missed an incident that had happened while the game was still going on. VAR made him aware of this and the game is brought back...as it is throughout the game.

It is harsh but there is nothing wrong with it. It would have been unfair if the ref had not given a penalty that should have stood.

Refs discretion, as it always had been

coz it takes time to reset from the goal. 5 mins is the minimum added time, there can be further injury time added onto the 5 mins

It's like saying once the ref blows the whistle when someone scores a goal that it can't be reversed... some people need a lesson of common sense I think

Think people are more frustrated about how undeserved the win was after United played like utter crap.

Still, I think VAR was spot on today.

It's not like that at all. If the ref blows the whistle that's the end of the game. If someone scores a goal after he's blow the whistle then it won't stand. At all.

The penalty was given because of something that happened before the whistle was blown.

Only the law is that once the referee has blown the whistle, the game is then over. No ifs, no buts. Sheff didn't get a goal at Villa last year bc Hawkeye's technology failed that would have seen Villa go down and Villa stay up. That was only seen and confirmed after the game. The result was not changed to reflect the fair proceedings of the game.

It's difficult to overstate the importance of the laws of professional football being changed to suit one club without saying that United have set a record for the most corrupt decision in the history of the game.

You are truly dense, if it was that corrupt don't they give utd the decision in the first place? Why would a corrupt ref not award a blatant pen

                Think please

That's not the rule, at all. The ref is explicitly allowed to do what he did.

Think it’s more the fact that brighton score with the last kick of the game... if Brighton miss that chance at the other end the full time whistle goes but United are allowed to kick off and have another chance then the full time whistle is blown and a penalty is given. There’s a reason why decisions shouldn’t be made after the full time whistle, where do they draw the line. Say the ref and players are walking off and United don’t kick up a fuss (which I believe they have every right to do so by the way because it was clearly a pen) how far can it be taken before a full time whistle decision is reversed.

So at what point is there a time when you cannot return? If the whistle is not adhered to, then why not go back to every decision that occurs throughout the game? once the half time whistle is blown then why not go back to something that happened in the first five minutes?

I don't know. I don't know the ins and outs of VAR but there prob is a time frame. The incident happened just before the whistle though...not 10 minutes before

I think it needs to be clarified, for me the biggest flaw of modern day reffing in the premier league is the absence of information provided by refs, like in rugby and nba etc, why are ref's not mic'd up?? They're so protected, don't see why they're not interviewed like the players to explain decisions

I love the idea of mic'd up refs. Think it would stop a lot of the disrespect that refs get from players too
