Abraham leads Chelsea line as Jorginho drops to bench for West Brom trip

Tammy Abraham (£7.3m) has been tasked with leading the Chelsea line for their Gameweek 3 trip to West Bromwich Albion.

After impressing midweek, the former Swansea City loanee makes his first Premier League start of the season in what looks to be a 4-2-3-1 formation named by Frank Lampard.

That suggests a slightly wider role for Timo Werner (£9.5m), who is capable of operating as a left-winger, while Kai Havertz (£8.4m) gets his first chance to play number 10 in a league match since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Abraham coming into the team has forced Jorginho (£5.1m) to the bench, which should make for interesting viewing if Chelsea win any penalties this afternoon, as the Italian has taken two since the start of the season.

In defence, Reece James (£5.1m) continues to silence the naysayers worried about rotation, as he starts ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta (£5.9m) for the third match in a row.

His Fantasy credentials are boosted by a Premier League debut for Thiago Silva (£5.5m), although Willy Caballero (£4.9m) makes one last start in goal as Edouard Mendy‘s (£5.0m) came too soon for involvement in Gameweek 3.

Matheus Pereira (£6.0m) remains the only asset of slight Fantasy worth in the West Bromwich Albion side.

The mid-priced midfielder is the most popular among Baggies starters but is only owned by 2.5% ahead of a testing meeting with Chelsea.

West Bromwich Albion XI (5-4-1): Johnstone; C Townsend, O’Shea, Bartley, Ajayi, Furlong; Diangana, Sawyers, Livermore, M Pereira; C Robinson.

Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Caballero; Alonso, T Silva, Christensen, R James; Kanté, Kovačić; Werner, Havertz, Mount; Abraham.

Probably Werner. He's not involved in anything coherent yet.

Martial was poor, but he's less of an unknown.

My penultimate draft had Werner, James and Greenwood instead of Robertson, Son and Mitro. Not holding my breath, but a bit of last minute tinkering may have worked out.

Werner will be a good fpl asset one day. Not yet.

Werner will score when they can counter attack, but many will sit deep against Che. Don’t want to take a hit again but I think I have seen enough and he is gone.
Price drop surely happens now too.

    Bring on Mendy !
    Something's gotta change !
James is a lock is many sides & he can't get a clean sheet. Couple that with potential rotation & the value chelsea defender is worthless.
    As is the striker.
Still more needed from the supposed top 4 team.
Bet they're happy with their expenditure.

Especially with a relatively inexperienced manager and a major squad overhaul. Yet people were on here in pre season saying you didn’t know football if you didn’t have him.

          It's wba they said.
Plus a couple of good movements from werner & havertz in pool game, & kai's hattrick... Could have been a perfect day.
Just not anticipated the position change to accommodate tammy. Feel foolish now to captain him due to news about kdb being benched.

it was a perfect storm, werner/havertz/james were pushed heavily on scout, and then the buts...
BUT it was their first game together
when AZ mentioned low XG, BUT it was 10 men vs liverpool, surely destroy wba with worst defence
I'm not sure what positives the scouts can take from this.
They should stop pushing chelsea till there's data to support their case

This one wasn’t about not having data really. It’s common sense given the uncertainties around Chelsea that this was possible. Not saying it was likely but always a possibility.

To be honest there is so much content on here that I bet you could find most teams are pushed. Chelsea more than most as they have the big names, but so much of it is just to fill the website it’s not really useful.

              & it happened. 3 goals.
Just not from werner who's pushed to the wing.

Agree WBA looked like his game to be sure. But the position change was foreseeable because Frank doesn’t know his formation yet. Not saying it was likely, but always a risk.

              • 9 Years

I do believe that his formation is 4231 or 433.
What the problem is that he's very stubborn.... he always play with that formations, even if his available players not suited to that formation.
He's not flexible in tactic & can't maximize his players potential.
Why play with wing formation when you only have 1 recognizable winger & your starting 11 doesn't have naturat wingers?....
